Black Lives Matter statement from the Pride Center of the Capital Region

The Pride Center recognizes that we are living in challenging times which have the potential to effect great change.

The Pride Center of the Capital Region stands firmly with the Black Lives Matter movement. Systemic racism, institutionalized poverty, ongoing violence, repression, and murder of Black and Brown people – these atrocities have been going on in this country for hundreds of years. We stand in support of the protesters who are loudly calling us ALL to action. This unrest will not stop until real change comes to our policing laws and policies. We must work together to unravel the web of inequities that plague our society.

The Pride Center of the Capital Region is committed to working with other social justice organizations to support all efforts to eradicate these inequities. We will continue to provide ongoing support groups as well as free mental health counseling services.

During this extremely challenging and difficult time, don’t be afraid to ask for help.
