PRICE GROWTHS PREDICTIONS FOR PERTH It´s been quite some time since Perth´s property market has boasted positive pricegrowth predictions. For the last few years, at least, these types of forecasts have usually been reserved for our capital city counterparts to the east. That´s all changing in 2020, with economist Trent Wiltshire from Domain predicting an end to Perth´s long-running downturn. He expects median house and unit prices to rise by 5 per cent by the end of the year, saying that Perth "is likely to see the fastest price growth since the mining boom ended in 2014 welcome news for those looking to sell." "Buyer interest has also risen, with ’views per listing’ up 40 per cent over the year and home loan commitments increased 15 per cent between December and March 2019." As the new year charges on, our team at Caporn Young has
certainly seen evidence of a strengthening market, including a big uptick in buyer interest. Domain data shows that ’views per listing’ is up 40 per cent over the year, and the level of stock on the market is shrinking, creating the strong supply and demand fundamentals required for property price growth. Perth experienced its first rolling, quarterly increase month on month since May 2018, reports Tim Lawless from CoreLogic another positive sign for the Perth property owners. It was only 0.1% growth, but that´s still a step in the right direction. In the week ending February 9th 2020, the city recorded a 22% increase in sales, alongside a 2% increase in new listings hitting the market. At this rate, demand will soon outweigh supply, which is a great indication that prices will increase further.
