Stakeholders plant seedlings in time with SLP’s 10th anniv celebration To celebrate the Sustainable Livelihood Program’s 10th Anniversary, the DSWD Field Office Caraga’s Sustainable Livelihood Program-Regional Program Management Office with the different participating sectors converged for the tree-growing activity in Barangay Mandamo, this city. Through the commitment of the Butuan City Environment and Natural Resources Office, a total of 100 Mahogany and Acacia seedlings were provided and planted during the activity. DSWD Caraga OICRegional Director Ramel Jamen and SLP Regional Program Coordinator Mary Ann Manla led the planting of the seedlings. “Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to instill the spirit of volunteerism and be

an active advocate in the development and protection of our environment by planting more trees which will soon benefit our younger generations. As we take care of each other’s health during this pandemic, we should also take good care of our environment,” cited Dir. Jamen. The Barangay Local Government Unit of Mandamo also showed their support to DSWD by providing the Agency with a designated area to plant the seedlings. A few members of the barangay council also

joined the activity and assisted the FO staff. Further, the FO eyes to officially adopt the area provided by the barangay and conduct more tree-growing activities in the future. For now, discussions regarding this partnership project are still ongoing to ensure that the project will sustain and grow. The FO initiated the tree-growing activity to increase its participation in the protection and restoration of the environment. (DSWDCaraga/PIA-Caraga) Caraga INFOCUS
