EDITOR’S
NOTE
Bringing Carbon back with a brand new Beauty Edit. We have worked in a much smaller team to create and produce a single topic version of the student orientated magazine, including content to cover all things beauty: makeup, skincare, trends and reviews. Working as Editor for this issue of Carbon has allowed me to take control and allow my creative mind to take over whilst working and editing each part of the magazine to fit the criteria of the Beauty Edit, producing a polished, well designed magazine for the Carbon collection. Each section has been carefully thought about and designed along a similar criteria of colours and layout to create an extremely ‘girly’ and feminine orientation to the magazine. As the editor, I worked with the art team to produce the cover, mastheads and alongside the deputy editor, to edit and improve our team’s articles to fit perfectly into each section. Being the Editor, has given me an amazing opportunity and chance to understand how the whole magazine works, and the effort it takes to produce a full magazine, with all work of the art team and sub-editors. It’s allowed me to put in my own ideas and create a series of works that I as Editor and as part of the team can be extremely proud of. It’s given me an amazing insight to how production works for Carbon Magazine. I hope you enjoy the issue and see how the hard work of our team has paid off, I have enjoyed working on this magazine and am proud to see the end result with everything pieced together.

Makeup Tips for Spring Now that we have finally waved goodbye to Winter, we also wave goodbye to dull, dry skin and rainy, cold days. It’s time to rejuvenate yourself and celebrate the sun with a new makeup routine, as light, soft and glowy as the seasons ahead!
1) Always use a moisturiser with a high SPF SPF should be worn everyday, even in winter. With the sun creeping it’s way back in, it’s even more important to be protecting your skin from those harsh rays, nobody wants wrinkles by the time they are 30.
2) Prime your face Priming your face is a must, it helps not only to achieve a flawless base for your foundation but also helps your makeup last longer! Investing in a primer that’s suited for your skin type can make a massive difference to your everyday makeup routine!
3) Keep it light There’s not much worse than carrying round a heavy, full face of makeup in the sun all day. Find a foundation that works for you and feels light on your skin. No need to cake your face, just a light layer and some concealer is just enough to give you that fresh, Spring face.
4) Glow, glow, GLOW Liquid highlighters are the way forward in the sunny seasons, find one that suits your skin tone and apply to your cheekbones, brow bone, cupids bow, chin and the tip of the nose for an eye catching, irresistible shine! Take it one step further and apply to shoulders, collar bones and shins on a sunny day and achieve an all over glow!
5) Wispy lashes, always Nobody wants their eyes being weighed down or their lashes getting caught on their sunglasses in the springtime by having big, heavy lashes. Save those for the night time and throw on a light, wispy pair of lashes and let your eyes do the talking.
6) Glossy gloss Carry on the glow with a nice, shiny lip gloss. Either apply over your favourite lipstick or just by itself for a more natural, fresh look. Keeping your lips full of moisture is important so avoid matte lipsticks that will feel dry and crack under the sun.
7) Ready, SET, Go The most important tip of them all! Don’t put all the work in to get your face looking flawless and then let it flop! Use a setting spray to lock it all in place before you take on the day ahead. Setting sprays not only save the day but can also be refreshing and bring a bit of life to your makeup throughout the day.
8) What not to forget A few things you might not want to leave behind! Eyelash glue for that pesky inner corner and lipgloss to top up throughout the day are vital! If you are prone to oily skin or if its a hot day, bring some powder to make sure your full face stays the full day.

HOW TO GET YOUR EYES POPPIN’
GREEN EYES
If you are in the 2% of the population who have been blessed with green eyes, you are definitely going to want to make them stand out. The colours that will do the job and make the green really pop are purples and red/bronzey tones. They contrast beautifully with green eyes to intensify the colour for a hypnotising look. The reason behind using these shades is based on colour theory, which uses contrasting colours in the spectrum to enhance the colour of your eyes. When choosing the eyeshadow you will be using on your eyes, it is best to steer clear of blue shades. Blue will make the green in your eyes appear dull.
Hazel eyes can shift between the prettiest shade of golden brown to an ever so slightly green, depending on the light. While all shades of gold, purple, and even a subtle yellow will complement your hazel eyes, pink and rose gold work beautifully to intensify the colour. You can go for a full-blown eye shadow look or keep it simple with a coloured liner or a mascara. If you are wanting to bring forward those subtle green tones in your eyes, then an olive or emerald green, can really make those non-dominant shades in hazel eyes, pop!
BR OW NEYES EYES BROWN
EYES BLUE BLUE EYES
You may think that there are no colours that could make brown eyes ‘pop!’ However, blue and purple look amazing as they contrast with the brown. Brown eyeshadow shades can also bring out brown eyes, even though they are the same colour! The combination of the two intensifies your eye colour. Brushing your favourite shade along the lower lash line as well as across your lids will give you the best results!
grey eyes If you have grey eyes, then you’re in luck. Grey eyes can be paired with several different colours, in order to bring out certain tones in the eye. If you are wanting to make your eyes look more blue, then you need to use subtle peaches, rich bronzes, and coppery shades, as they can all help bring out the blue colour in grey eyes. If you are wanting to make your grey eyes appear more green, you can choose from colours in the orange colour family, or the purple colour family, such as lilac or plum tones. If your grey eyes have a hazel or brown undertone, turn to eye shadows that would be used for brown eyes. Purple shades, for example, will complement your eyes well.

HAZEL EYES
CARBON MAGAZINE | MAKEUP
Blue eyes don’t need much help standing out. But, you can really make them pop when considering basic colour theory when picking your eye makeup. To brighten up your blue eyes, you should opt for warm shades, such as coppers, oranges, reds and corals. All of these shades are opposite blue on the colour wheel, therefore they will contrast and make your eyes appear very vibrant. Just like with hazel eyes, if you have blue eyes and you are looking to make them stand out on your face then it is best to steer clear of bright blue shades, as they will most likely make your eyes look dull.
amber amber eyes eyes Just like green eyes, amber eyes are more of a rare occurence. This means you will definitely want them to stand out when you are wearing eyeshadow. Plum and purple shades work amazingly on amber eyes and highlights them beautifully, as the two are on opposite ends of the colour wheel. The contrast between them makes both colours pop! Copper and bronze eyeshadows also complement amber eyes. As the shades are so similar, they work together to really enhance the amber colour.

HOW TO START A S 1
WORK OUT YOUR SKIN TYPE Understanding your skin type is an important first step in discovering the most effective way to take care of your skin. Once you work this out, you can find the right products that will work the best for your skin, and give you the best results! Your skin type could be : Normal, Oily, Dry, Combination or Sensitive.
NORMAL: is well-balanced - not too dry or too oily. Those with normal
skin are not typically prone to breakouts or flakiness and tend to have a balanced t-zone.
OILY:
refers to skin that has excess oil, most commonly throughout the t-zone of the face. Oily skin tends to feel greasy, and is often prone to blemishes and breakouts.
DRY: skin feels rough and flaky, overall appears dehydrated. COMBINATION: has areas that are both dry and oily. For example, skin
is typically shiny on the forehead, nose and chin, while appearing dry or normal on the cheeks.
SENSITIVE: often
characterized by visible redness and dryness. Sensitive skin may not always show visible signs and may simply have feelings of discomfort.
2
APPLY YOUR CLEANSER The first step in your skincare routine is to apply your cleanser. Cleansers dissolve daily dirt, grime, impurities and make-up, gently clearing the skin to leave it ready for the next step of your routine. If you have oily skin, try out the Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser, for only £14! It “dislodges the thick sebum that leads to spots and blackheads without upsetting your skin’s pH balance.“ If you have dry skin, the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser is your best bet! It has a pH-balanced daily cleanser with five skin conditioners that won’t leave your skin irritated or feeling tight.

SKINCARE ROUTINE 3
USE A TONER Most people choose to skip toners, however they are an important step towards that perfect skin you are wanting. Facial toners work to remove environmental toxins such as smoke, smog and other chemical residues from your skin. This helps your skin to look brighter and healthier, and long-term benefits may include less acne, less severe acne scarring and fewer wrinkles. If your skin is particularly sensitive, prone to redness and discomfort, the PIXI Rose Tonic soothes and hydrates your skin, restoring its natural pH to reveal a glowing, even complexion. It’s packed full of skin-loving ingredients such as Elderflower and Chamomile, the PIXI Rose Tonic is perfect for sensitive skin.

MOISTURISE! Moisturising is probably the most important step in your skin routine. Moisturising everyday can reduce the chance of developing extreme dryness or oiliness. It also helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles! You may think that moisturiser would not be the best idea for those with oily skin, however many people confuse oil with hydration, and the role of moisturizers is to improve skin’s hydration by adding water to it. If you have oily skin, a moisturiser you should definitely give a go is the ‘Origins Original Skin Matte Moisturiser.’ For £28, it delivers long-lasting hydration without overwhelming the skin. If you have combination skin, the ‘Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturiser’ will hydrate your skin where it needs it and simply refreshes oily areas. Skin is left feeling supple and radiant.
After completing each of these steps, you should finish by using an SPF to protect your skin against UV damage. UV damage causes signs of premature ageing such as wrinkling and pigmentation. A good face SPF to try is the ‘Invisible Shield’ from Glossier, retailing at £20. It is a lightweight SPF 35 water-gel formula that feels like a serum and protects against sunburn. Know your skin and How it works FOREHEAD
Breaking out here is an easy way to find out that you’re dehydrated, eating too much processed foods or it could be that you’re experiencing high stress levels. Ways to try and tackle this would be evaluating your diet, drink more water and to find ways to destress. Solutions to this include drinking more water, eating more food which have a high water content and trying to maintain a healthier diet. To target stress you could, exercise, meditate and take time to pamper yourself, all of which can help.
BROWS If your skin is suffering here it’s highly likely that it’s down to a high sugar diet, too much consumption of alcohol or your eyebrow hair follicles may be clogged which are causing a break out. To tackle these issues obviously means cutting back on the amount of sugar that you’re eating and reducing the amount of alcohol you drink. These two could be a combine issue if you’re someone who enjoys alcohol drinks that contain a lot of sugar such as cocktails or ciders. For the clogged follicle issue, getting a deep cleaning wash and face scrub is your best way to try and clear up your skin.
NOSE Being the main part of your face that you’re likely to touch, your nose can be prone to a lot of bacteria, grease, dry skin and dirt causing clogged pores. Hormone imbalance can also lead to a break out in this area meaning that sometimes it can’t be prevented. However, if it’s not the latter then a set skincare routine including face washes, scrubs and exfoliators will definitely reduce the chances of breaking out on your nose.
CHIN
Bacteria from your phone can be a huge cause of acne here due to your phone resting there when you talk on the phone. Trying to prevent this can include taking phone calls on speaker or through headphones to reduce the skin contact onto your screen. Another issue cheeks tend to be prone to is dry skin which can be a cause of acne. This is through dry skin usually meaning damaged skin therefore it is more like to pick up dirt and excessive cosmetic products, causing clogged pores that create break outs. Moisturising and deep cleansing is the best solution to stick to for this.
Another place that is highly influenced by hormone change from within the body, it can be hard to tackle. Over indulging in greasy foods can also be a major cause for chin breakouts which might mean going to McDonald’s might be something to think twice about if you want to maintain clear skin.
EXTRA TIPS 1. Drink more water and your skin will bless you 2. Vitamin C can be a lifesaver in face products, always try to buy things that include it

STAY HYDRATED

Make sure to drink lots of water to keep your body hyrdated and more importantly, moisturised. It’s crucial to mositurise because it keeps the ink from fading faster than it should be. It also keeps your skin healthy not only for tattoo care reasons but many other healthy factors that come with drinking plenty of water. A healthy body and mind means a healthy and well looked after tattoo.
SUN SCREEEN It is normal for your tattoo to lighten up because new layers of skin are growing and your skin is still accepting all the ink that was introduced to it. To keep the solid color of your tat, always wear sunscreen when going outdoors. An SPF of 45 or higher is great. Even sunscreen for kids will do just fine. If possible, choose sunblock brands that are specifically designed for tattoos.
BEWARE OF WHAT YOU WEAR If you’re going to be outside, sun-protective clothing is another way to keep your tattoo protected for the long run. Even if the tattoo is under your clothing, if the clothes are loosely knit — like linen or loose-weave cotton — the sun’s rays can still penetrate the cloth and result in fading. Look for sun-protective clothing with a UPF of 30 or more and you’ll be protecting both your skin and your tattoo from harmful UV rays.

FACE TATTOOS The Controversial Celebrity Trend of 2020 Tattoos have always been a controversial topic amongst the generations, especially on those in the public eye. But the most commonly criticised are those placed upon the face, however this painful extremely exposed placement has become ever popular, predominantly amongst celebrities, who feel as though they need to create a statement in their own lives. Originally facial tattoos were used as punishment in the 17th century to criminals, who would commonly get ‘Prisoner’ engraved across their forehead. Explorer James Cook was the first to discover the Polynesian Tattoo in 1769, which was commonly stitched onto high social class Polynesian and Maori citizens. In recent times they have become less of a stamp of punishment but are now a fashion choice, in 1971 Charles Manson arrived to his trial for the Tate-LaBianca murders with a hand carved swastika between his eyebrows which caused a strong controversy. We all know facial tattoos to be predominantly part of Gang and Prison culture, which heavily influenced 80’s/90’s rappers ie. Tu32

pac, and also encourages modern day celebrities such as Post Malone and Chris Brown to continue the trend. Musician Post Malone, famously known for his mixture of facial tattoos, explained that his choice of tattoos including barbed wire across his forehead, a Playboy bunny on his cheek and ‘Always Tired’ written underneath his eyes, that they aren’t there to be a fashion statement, he uses them as a defence strategy in response to being unhappy within himself and with his appearance. He felt that if he put something cool on his face that it would make him see himself as a ‘cool guy’ rather than this ‘ugly’ persona that he gave himself when he looked in the mirror. It gave him confidence, the same way people undergo plastic surgery to enhance and change themselves to feel better. Another celebrity who has turned to face tattoos is model and actress Amber Rose, who recently got the names of her children ‘Slash and Bash (Sebastian) tattooed across her forehead. Apparently her main influences to encourage the daring tattoo were the death of Kobe Bryant, which made her
reflect on her life, as well as her father’s cancer scare, it made her feel ‘You know what, life is so short just do it. Just live your best life, I’ve been wanting this tattoo for a long time’ People criticised saying she was too pretty for a face tattoo are the same people that would tell her that she was ugly. Most recently criticised is Presley Gerber, Cindy Crawford’s 20 year old son, who decided to permanently tattoo ‘misunderstood’ underneath his right eye, he supported his choice by commenting “You don’t know how I feel” to the mixed range of critique and support, directly quoting that his upbringing encouraged him to take the step to getting the tattoo. Many other artists such as Justin Bieber and Chris Brown also have various tattoos that they have decided they wanted inked on their face, which has received a lot of criticism. But everyone has a right to make a decision and just because others don’t support it doesn’t mean it’s not the right decision for them. If that’s the way they want to express their personality and appearance then that is their choice, not anyone elses.

You like my hair? Gee thanks, just bought it.. For hair even Rapunzel would envy! Long hair has always been something that most girls either aspire to or envy. However, the long hair trend has really outdone itself this year, with the likes of Ariana Grande inspiring not only Gen Z but also hair extension companies, what did you expect? Having extensions as long as 26” is just the norm now. So, we are here to fill you in on what extensions are hot right now and will help give you that signature Ariana pony.
Clip ins These are the best option for those who are looking for a less permanent look. Attached to clips, this method of hair extensions are easy to put in and easy to take out and also leave no damage to your natural hair. They can be used to add length to hair or just to add thickness and volume. The clips are made to match the colour of the hair which makes sure they aren’t visible. Clip in hair extensions can be made from synthetic hair which are a cheaper option, however aren’t easy to style as heat and synthetic hair aren’t a duo we would recommend. This type of extension can also be made with human hair which allows customers to wash and style extensions as they would their own hair.
Tapes Tape in extensions are 1 inch panels of hair that are attached to natural hair by using a medical grade adhesive. They take around an hour for a hairdresser to apply, making this the quickest of permanent hair extensions. Due to the application process being shorter, the price for these extensions are slightly lower which make them ideal for those staying on a budget. The maintenance for these hair extensions is fairly easy, it is recommended to get these extensions refitted between 10-12 weeks after application. Tape ins are very lightweight and do not pull on your own hair. They grow out with your natural hair and therefore do not tug or pull. They are flexible and almost invisible in the hair which is vital when it comes to hair extensions. Tape in extensions can last for up to a year if looked after and pushed up when needed. Heat can be used on this hair although treat it like your own, therefore use heat protector spray to help it stay healthy and last longer!
Nano rings Nano rings are single extensions that have a keratin tip and are attached to the natural hair with a tiny metal or plastic loop. Each one is attached to a few strands of natural hair. The rings used are a similar size to a ball point pen making them very small and not visible, they also lie flat in your hair making it even easier to hide. This gives you the ability to style your hair as you please. This particular method is best for those who have thinner hair to begin with as they are the easiest to hide. Maintenance for these extensions is recommended for around 6-9 weeks after application. The hair can be used for up to a year if cared for in the correct way. This method uses no heat or glue or chemicals so is therefore not damaging on the natural hair and often allows your natural hair to grow while they are in. The tiny rings used are lined with silicone which also prevents damage to the natural hair. These extensions can be styled, washed and dried just like your own hair.

Festivals are at the top of the agenda when it comes to the summer, and the main priority is what outfits to wear and what makeup and hairstyles are trending to match. We have devised a list of the top hair braid hairstyles to wear to the biggest festivals this summer.
TOP 5 FESTIVAL HAIR BRAIDS STYLING GUIDE
1.Coloured Cornrows: Coloured hair in recent years has been one of the biggest festival hair trends, whether you go all out and dye your hair multicoloured or stick to adding in hair extensions, take the look a step further by braiding into cornrows additionally accessorising with glitter and bright colours to create the ultimate festival goers look.
2.Braided Spacebuns: If you’re looking for a style that will stay intact all day, without the fear of coming loose, wear your hair in budge proof spacebars and decorate with hair rings and glitter throughout the buns and roots, for an all over glamourised festival statement.
3.Unicorn Braids: Why not be creative with a loose hair look by adding in a central parting braid with wavy hair, a cool but contemporary, easy way to style your hair. Why not add in temporary hair colour to give it a real ‘magical’ look mixed with lots of glitter covering the braid.
4.Boxer Braids: Worn both with short and long hair, the festival hairstyle favourited by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Karlie Kloss, simple, cool braids styled both simply or complexed, remains top of the favourites for a tactile, stylish festival hairstyle. Why not add in glitter down your central parting to create a simple, festive style.
5.Party-Hard Plaited Buns: The best way to take space buns to the next level with a half up half down look, styled with tight braids over long wavy hair, creates a durable, long-lasting stylish look to wear everyday of the festival season. Why not take it to the next level, by dying your hair a pastel shade with neon glitter roots.
Use this trending looks to update your festival looks for this summer

Glossier.
BRAND REVIEW
“Glossier is a new approach to beauty. It’s about fun and freedom and being OK with yourself today. We make intuitive, uncomplicated products designed to live with you.” Glossier was founded in 2014. Over the past six years, the brand has taken the beauty community by storm with its light yet effective formulas, alongside its perfect, instagrammable packaging. The brand is used by millions of people over the world, including the likes of singer, Beyoncé and models, Elsa Hosk and Rosie Huntington-Whitely. With such a large following, and aesthetically pleasing image, it’s easy to spend all of your money on the website without knowing if the products even work. That’s where we step in. We’re here to give you the low down on some of Glossier’s apparent best sellers, and help you decide whether it is worth splashing your cash! Introducing ‘Cloud Paint’; arguably the most iconic Glossier product to date. This gel-cream blush glides over the skin leaving a seamless and natural finish. It has a lightweight formula, allowing this product to be buildable, so you really can’t go wrong! Apply one layer for a simple everyday look, but add a couple more layers and it’s the perfect pop of colour on your cheeks for your evening out. Once applied, this product doesn’t budge, and I can honestly say I have not reached for a powder blush since trying it. There are six shades available, perfect for every skin tone. I would definitely recommend Glossier’s cloud paint, worth the £15 for sure!

The ‘Milky Jelly Cleanser’ is the best selling skincare product from Glossier. It is a gentle gel facewash, suitable for all skin types. This product left my skin feeling so clean, and also soft. It did not dry out my skin like a soap would do, and it has a very light and fresh scent. Easily removed mascara and any other makeup or dirt that was on my skin. Other reasons to love this product is that it’s vegan, cruelty free, hypoallergenic, paraben free and sulfate free. The milky jelly cleanser would cost you £15 for a full size bottle, or only £8 for a mini! Treat your skin and give it the cleanse that it needs.
The next product we will be talking about is the ‘haloscope.’ This is a highlighter stick that provides a dewy and hydrated finish on the skin. The best thing about this product is that it is formulated with genuine crystal extracts; this gives an all-day glow that’s not glittery, for £18. I love how natural this highlighter looks; it is perfect for those ‘no make-up days’ as it gives the skin a subtle glow. The only down side to this product is that it can feel slightly sticky on the skin, but once blended well this isn’t an issue.
‘solution’ is an exfoliating skin perfector. It’s a gentle way to get rid of dead skin to reveal a fresh, smooth complexion. Daily use of this product is said to help improve the appearance of blemishes, visible redness, and enlarged pores. Since using this product, my skin feels smoother and softer. My complexion has improved and I can honestly say I feel happier with my skin. I love using this product before I use the milky jelly cleanser; together they are the perfect skin care combination. This product retails for £18, more on the pricey side however it sure does work!
The Glossier ‘lipgloss.’ is another top rated product. It claims to give a ‘glassy shine’ without the stickiness that a gloss can sometimes have. For me, this lipgloss is my favourite one that I have tried so far. It made my lips look plump and full and it has a stunning shine. It is also pretty long lasting! I only had to re-apply a couple times during the night. However, the gloss can feel slightly sticky if I haven’t applied a lip balm on to my lips beforehand, but in comparison to other glosses I have tried, it’s a really good product, retailing at only £11.
This is the ‘boy brow’ grooming pomade. A brushable, creamy wax that visibly thickens, shapes, and grooms brows into place. Probably one of my favourite products from Glossier, and the only product I use on my brows. It thickens and darkens my eyebrow hair in the most natural looking way, whilst keeping them in place all day. Eyebrows can be a tricky step in some people’s make-up routine, but in my opinion boy brow saves the day. It is quick, effective and won’t break the bank; retailing at £14. For sure a must have in my make-up bag.

“My grandma, a medicinal chemist and toxicologist, always taught me that, like our bodies, our skin needs feeding with healthy, nourishing and, most importantly, natural ingredients. Growing up in Cairns, Tropical North Queensland, Australia, I was surrounded by an abundance of natural ingredients, including fresh aloe vera plants and exotic fruit trees. The environment I grew up in has had a huge effect on the products we create at Tropic.” Susie Ma, Founder and CEO
“Plants and fruits that grow in tropical climates soak up an abundance of sunshine, which helps them to flourish. We believe that these plants are the most nutritious and beneficial for the skin. That’s why our ingredients are sustainably sourced from the Amazon rainforest, Polynesia, Australia and many more exotic regions brimming with powerful botanical actives.” “In an industry that often overlooks animal welfare and the environment, we promise to never test on animals, nor use derivatives that cause them distress. That’s why we stand with Cruelty Free International, The Vegan Society and PETA as a 100% cruelty-free brand, now and always.” -Tropic Website So there we have it, all the latest on the new and upcoming brand. Our planet and our rainforests are important, and we love the fact that more brands are getting on board with a more environmentally friendly way to live. Susie is a success story inspiration and someone for young creatives to look up to!

MARIO BADESCU review DRYING LOTION
*****
£13.50 for 29ml Magic in a bottle! This little bottle of pink can (and will) clear your blemishes overnight. Those annoying little spots you get under the skin or over, will disapear with a little touch of this. Just dip a cotton bud into the pink magic at the bottom of the bottle, and place it on top of a clear, clean base and your blemish. Be ready to say goodbye to pesky problems with this. But, no matter what you do, make sure not to shake it! The solution is meant to be seperated, so keep it that way.
whitening mask
****
£21 for 56g A face mask ready to actually make a difference. Full of feel good qualities, this mask is similar to a mud mask in texture and the way it dries. It’s pink (so we love it even more) - and also helps make those dark little nasties go away. This mask helps to balance skin tone, and even pigmentation. Making you feel much more ready for those no makeup days.

SILVER POWDER
***** 9.50 for 28g
A tub of blackhead magic. This honestly is the answer to your problems. Wet some cotton wool, and dip it into this magic powder. It feels funny, don’t say I haven’t warned you! But, altough it’s a saviour in a bottle just be careful. It is extremily messy, the powder can fall as its drying, and it is a weird feeling on your face - just hold it out. It is worth it.
ENZYME CLEANSING GEL
***
10.95 for 236ml A face wash with a punch, this not only washes but cleanses your face. A little green bottle of amazing-ness! It makes your skin feel super clean, and hydrated. Altough, if you have sensitive skin, I would stay away from this. It is kinda strong and ca dness if irratation occurs. So if your skin is still baby soft, maybe opt for a different wash.

A magic mist, ready to refresh and revitalize your face! Perfect for summer or hot weather, this little bottle is wonderful. Alough perfect for refreshing, I’m unusre if its properties are actually *that* beneficial. Defenitley not one to discount, because it is a bottle of brilliance which smells like heaven. But I’m unsure if this is your skin saviour.

BEAUTY SPY Say goodbye to dr y skin, hair and weak nails and say hello to a new, healthy fresh you. This oils nourishes, conditions, softens, this truly exotic oil is rapidly absorbed providing superior moisturisation. Firstly the smell. Heaven. Now the oil itself soaks into the skin quickly and does not leave a greasiness or sticky feeling behind. It leaves the skin beautifully soft. I personally have thick, dr y hair. I’ve tried so many conditioners and hair products, but this oil is perfect. It is a body/skin oil but I find it works perfectly on my hair to add shine and make it nice and soft. Therefore if you need to tame your mane like me this is the product for you. I add a drop while it’s damp and then another for shine after ivr blow dried my hair. This is a none fuss easy to use all round amazing product for men & women.

Oils are naturally replete with vitamins that repair and protect. Elemis, though pricey, is especially concentrated in vitamins A and E, which work to smooth fine lines and soften skin, respectively. There’s up to four times more vitamin C in marula oil, an antioxidant that fights hyperpigmentation, than in an orange. Sunflower oil is also high in vitamin E. Another great option: rosehip oil, which is padded with vitamin C. It’s great for protection against environmental damage. Even if your hair is fine, a tiny amount of oil can dramatically boost its luster. If your hair is thick and dr y, consider this: Coat your hair from mid-shaft to ends before stepping into the shower. Shampoo and condition like you normally would. The oil will protect your hair from the dr ying effects of shampoo. You can buy this oil online: @elemis.com

PRODUCT REVIEW Here at Carbon we are all about saving money, but we are also all about looking and feeling good. Luckily brands like NYX Cosmetics understand the need for both. NYX is known for it’s low price and high quality products but if you are still hesitant about getting on the NYX hype, then look no further. We’ve done all the hard work for you and reviewed some of their most talked about products.
1)Soft Matte Lip Cream This lipstick is the favourite to many Youtubers and beauty bloggers, and we can see why! Available in 38 different shades, this lip cream has an irresistible, sweet smelling formula and is extremely lightweight. For those shuddering at the word ‘matte’ right now, snap out of it because this product is completely non-drying and is long lasting, meaning you don’t need to pack on the layers and watch your lips crumble like other matte lipsticks.
£6
2)Butter Gloss Butter gloss is more suited to the guys and girls who swore once they went gloss, they’d never go back, and haven’t. This gloss is true to it’s name, it glides on smoothly and is buttery soft! With 26 shades, this product is a must for many. The formula is totally non-sticky, lightweight and also sweet smelling. The butter gloss is ideal for dry lips as it is extremely hydrating and moisturising, you can upgrade your basic lip balm now.

3)Pore Filler Primer This is the perfect base coat for your foundation if you suffer with large or visible pores. This primer saves lives by smoothing and filling any problem areas on the face. It is oil free and vegan which makes us love it even more, however this doesn’t mean it helps oily skin. If you suffer from oily skin you may find a mattifying primer works better and will help control the oils throughout the day. This product can also be used alone, without the application of foundation, as it reduces unwanted texture and leaves your face ridiculously soft and smooth.
£11
4)Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray Doing your make up and not setting it is quite frankly, a crime in this day and age, not to mention a waste of make up. This setting spray is a God send for those who need a little extra moisture throughout the day, alongside setting their makeup in place. It helps makeup last longer and gives a gorgeous, all over, healthy glow. For those with oily skin NYX have a Matte Finish Setting Spray which is just as good, just minus the extra dewiness.
£7
5)Total Control Drop Foundation If you often switch up between wanting a full glam look and a ‘no-make-up-make-up’ look then this is the foundation for you. This foundation gives you the freedom to customise your coverage with just a drop. It is extremely buildable and easy to blend without giving the dreaded ‘cakey’ look. NYX have blessed us with up to 30 different shades making it appealing to pretty much everyone.
6)Micro Brow Pencil Brows are make or break, but with this product, it’s make or make. A foolproof way of bringing your brows to life! This product is so easy to apply with a very defined tip for those life like strokes of hair. If you are all about the natural brow then this pencil is for you, however if you are into the more dramatic look then perhaps a pomade will be a better suited product.

HOLY GRAIL OF LIQUID HIGHLIGHTERS: ICONIC LONDON ILLUMINATOR DROPS High cheekbones are the holy grail of beauty: classically beautiful and instantly youthful. Even if you havent been blessed with a naturally sculpted complexion, its easier than you think to cheat your way to model-esque cheek- bones. All you need is a bit of con- touring make-up, using bronzer and a shimmering highlighting pallet. A few good make-up tips to help you to lift and define what youve already got. To spice up your ever yday look add a highlighter on top of your cheekbones. It will add dimension and create beau- tiful reflection, it only will be visible when you turn. This trick will help you to look younger and more fresh. With this tip you can easily make your nose look thin- ner and smaller, but be careful when you use it during the day, remember to blend ever ything ver y well, so that nobody can spot any lines along your nose. All this should look smooth and well blended, just like natural shading of the face. Here is an easy and simple make up trick to quickly neutralise dark circles around your eyes: mix your creamy highlighter with an under eye concealer in proposi- tions that you like and apply it (sparingly) under your eyes, this will lighten and brighten your eye area. Use a highlighter under your eyebrows and above them after you filled them in, this makeup trick will give you a visible lift, will emphasise the shape of your brows, give them clean look and accentuate your eyes. Only, pay atten- tion to use the highlighter sparingly, no need of big brush. Use a tiny thin brush to get more sophisticated result.

If you would like to correct she shape of your nose, make it smaller or thin- ner, you don’t need to make a plastic surger y, just use the makeup. Apply a highlighter down the bridge of your nose and a matt colour that is 1 or 2 shades darker than your skin tone on the sides of your nose. In these pictures. The model has used the highlighter “Iconic Londons illuminator drops” Blinding! (Check!) Long lasting (check!) Price point (check!) The only thing that sucks is that you have to buy it only via Iconic London’s website and because it’s from the UK, it does take a little while between buying and shipping and receiving! This was probably the first liquid highlighter I ever bought, and IG made me buy it. I love blinging highlighter, I love being seen from miles away. If that is not your type of highlighter this may not be the best product for you. I also love using it in my foundation. Drop 2-3 drops into my foundation, mix and apply and my foundation looks so smooth, and flawless! I highly recommend [prod u c t : i c o n i c - l o n d o n - i l l u m i n a t o r- d ro p s , - o r i g i n a l ] !
