Welcome to cardiff We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Cardiff. To help you get to know your fellow postgrad students and find out a little bit more about the city, we’ve put together a range of events for you to get involved in. The events highlighted have been developed specifically for postgrads so make sure you come along to those!

Volunteering is a great way to gain valuable employability skills and experience as well as helping to make a difference in your new local community. Come along to the Volunteering Fair to find out more and sign up to our projects.

Sports Fair / 10:30-17:00 Venue: Great Hall and Y Stiwdio / Free entry

The Athletic Union is the body that supports all sporting activity at Cardiff University Students’ Union. There are over 60 sports clubs including individual and team sports, outdoor and water sports and martial arts. It’s your chance to meet members of each sport and sign up.

Challenge your new postgraduate acquaintances at a quiz with some delicious pizza from The Taf!

Pure House and Garage Tour 2017 / 22:00-03:00 Venue: Y Plas night club / £5 entry

Wales has its own native language, which you’ll see displayed and hear spoken around the city. This is a great opportunity to learn some useful phrases when you arrive in Cardiff.

The home of dance music goes live and heads to Y Plas. Pure has taken the legendary album series on tour throughout the UK, Europe & beyond and now they are coming exclusively to take over your night.

The Senedd is the main public building of the National Assembly, the main centre for democracy and devolution in Wales. Have a tour of this sustainable building, built of traditional Welsh materials such as slate and Welsh oak, located in the vibrant Cardiff Bay area.

St Fagans Trip / 11:00-14:00 Venue: Meet at GIAG Bus Stop / £5

St. Fagans is one of Europe’s leading open–air museums and Wales’s most popular heritage attraction. Since 1948 over forty original buildings from different historical periods have been reerected in the 100-acre parkland, among them houses, a farm, a school, a chapel and a splendid Workmen’s Institute.

The Guild of Societies will be taking over our Freshers’ events on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th September, giving you the opportunity to find out more about our student groups from the students who run them.

The BIGGEST Wednesday night in Cardiff is back. Scott Mills and Chris Stark headline the club to kick us off for the term.

thursday 28th September Societies Fair Day 2 / 10:30-17:00 Great Hall and Y Stiwdio / Free entry

With over 200 societies to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice! Come along to day two of our Societies Fair to meet the students who run our societies and to sign up.

Walk in the footsteps of famous footballers like Ryan Giggs, see where Madonna stood, and where Welsh rugby star Shane Williams laced his boots. You will get to see where all the action takes place on event days with a Principality Stadium Tour.
