A gift of a whole year to learn about GOD, about YOURSELF and your place in the WORLD
intermission whakatere te tawhātanga
Do you want to live a life that’s full on for Jesus? A life where you can apply your faith and be all God has called you to be? Intermission is a one year full-time programme for those at the quarter life stage (17-21). It’s packed with adventure as you learn more about God, the world, and your place in it. 2020 has been a messy year. Why not take a year in 2021 and journey alongside a small cohort of other students like you and • Re-evaluate your direction in life • Rethink world views • Refuel for discipleship • Order your priorities for the future.
Fees Free! If this is your first year of tertiary study you may be eligible to get your fees paid for via the Fees Free scheme. See feesfree.govt.nz for more details.
Intermission has been a life changing experience. I joined Intermission thinking I will simply learn more about God and the Bible but I have also learned so much more! I have learned how our society and worldviews are shaped. A highlight would probably be all the different contexts that we get placed in and then having to reflect on what we learned from our experiences. Knowing what I know now I can’t not live my life differently after this year

What do you get? We focus on discipleship, vocation and study. Students learn through a process of action and reflection, you learn something, try to apply it, reflect on it and try again! Part of this is serving a local church or community group to apply your learning over the year, while checking out ministry or vocation opportunities through group placements and field trips. You also do academic papers (just like Uni or tech) looking at a range of topics from social issues, worldview, theology and Te Ao Māori.
A Level 4 Certificate in Christian Ministries (NZQA Accredited)
A positive transitional tertiary learning experience to set you up well
Useful transferable skills for your next season—top-up your tool kit
A significant journey with a small group of like-minded peers

Academic learning Intermission provides a spring-board into future academic study with an introduction to tertiary level tools of learning while developing skills in research, critical thinking, writing and presentations. You do a range of Level 4 and Level 5 papers—some are just for Intermission and some are with the wider Carey students and staff. It’s a good mix! You will be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Christian Ministry (NZQA Accredited) which is recognised by other tertiary institutions. SEMESTER 1
