CODE OF ETHICS OF THE ENGINEER IN VENEZUELA
PROFESSIONALISM The term professionalism is used to describe all those practices, behaviors and attitudes that are governed by the established rules of respect, restraint, objectivity and effectiveness of the activity carried out .
Professionalism
is
the
direct
result
of
being
a
professional, an individual having a particular profession and exercise it according to the guidelines established for the same socially. Patterns of professionalism can be very varied and range from physical appearance and aspects (such as clothing) to moral and ethical attitudes (such as the line of duty in any situation and reality). The notion of professionalism relates, needless to say, with the profession. The profession is a type of job legitimately acquired by a person after a career of study or
work that gives the skills, knowledge and skills specific to the chosen activity. The attitude of professionalism, to act as a professional means that when exercising or actividd that task, the person performs according to the parameters established specifically for it as well according to moral behavior and general parameters.
Professionalism can exist however in the case of people who do not have an official legal profession but still demonstrate important traits of respect, commitment, dedication and professionalism in what they do. Professionalism is without doubt one of the most sought when establishing job traits, but at the same time can be difficult to measure in quantitative terms. Obviously, there are some elements that can be clearly identified as lack of professionalism, such as tardiness, aggressive language and forms of communication or improper handling, lack of commitment to the activity, inappropriate appearance, establishing emotional ties with colleagues or clients when this is not allowed. PROFESSIONAL ETHICS
Professional
ethics
seeks
to
regulate the activities carried out within the framework of a profession. In this sense, it is a discipline that is included within applied ethics since it refers to a specific part of reality.
Notably, ethics, overall, is not coercive (not impose legal or regulatory sanctions). However, professional ethics may be, in a way, in the codes of conduct governing an occupation. Ethics is part of what is known as normative ethics and presents a set of principles and rules binding.
Arguably, therefore, that professional ethics studies the binding standards set by professional ethics. Ethics suggests what is desirable and what sentence should not be done, while ethics has administrative tools to ensure that the profession is exercised ethically. AUTOR: ANTONIO TIELVE
