ABOUT THE WORK
The vulnerability of this text is one I wanted to express in my music. Setting Away in a Manger has been an adventure of understanding how fragile can we be if we let it happen. It reminds me of the love that family and friends share during the holidays, asking the little Lord Jesus to keep us safe and the ones around us.
ABOUT THE COMPOSER Carlos (b. 1992), recent University of Houston Affiliated Fellow at the American Academy of Rome, is an award winner composer of several international competitions, including the International Choral Composition Competition Japan 2018 (Ave, Regina Coelorum); Inversion Ensemble’s Emerging Composer Competition (Nada Te Turbe); Vox Populi winner and Special Mention in the I International Choral Composition Competition Alberto Grau (Nada Te Turbe); The Uncommon Music
