Dear Neighbor, On behalf of the City of Carlsbad, it is my pleasure to welcome all of you back to TGIF Concerts in the Parks! The last two years have been challenging and required the City of Carlsbad to postpone the 2020 and 2021 TGIF concerts, but now we’re back and thrilled to present the 35th Anniversary concert season. TGIF Concerts in the Parks have grown into the one of the most beloved and highly anticipated concert series and community events in Carlsbad; this year will be no exception. The Cultural Arts staff, responsible for planning the concerts, have been hard at work to provide a concert going experience reminiscent of years past. This year, we are offering a variety of musical genres that pay respect to the rich history of TGIF concerts and its humble roots as “Jazz in the Parks.” While enjoying the concerts we invite you to bring the whole family to the Pop Up Art booth, formerly Family Open Studios, where you’ll enjoy free, hands-on-art making activities. If you’re feeling lucky, swing by Carlsbad Friends of the Arts booth for opportunity drawing tickets and to purchase fun TGIF merchandise. We encourage all of you to take advantage of the free shuttle service. More information about the shuttles can be found on page 20 of this program. TGIF Concerts in the Parks would not be possible without our community partners. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Carlsbad Friends of the Arts, who have been, and continue to be, a major support. A big thank you also goes out to PCH Litho, Inc. for printing this commemorative 35th anniversary program. And lastly, our gratitude goes out all the businesses and individuals that have provided financial support to TGIF Concerts in the Parks by advertising in this program. We encourage you to support these organizations. Recognition must also be given to all our city partners who helped bring these concerts back: Cultural Arts, Police and Fire departments, Public Works, Parks & Recreation, Human Resources and Environmental Sustainability. A special acknowledgment to the City Council for its continued commitment to the arts in Carlsbad. TGIF Concerts in the Parks is just a portion of the offerings of art programs and art experiences offered to our community. We can’t wait to see you this summer!
