ENJOYING THE JOURNEY SINCE 1996, CARMEL MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL (CMI) HAS SEEN STEADY GROWTH AND INFLUENCE IN BRISTOL, THE UK AND BEYOND...
With both a clear vision and a focussed mission based on biblical values, the ministry has been able to go forward from strength to strength, fulfilling its mandate despite the increased hostility to Christianity from the secular and non-Christian world.
MISSION: In line with the Word of God and God’s purposes in the world today, CMI’s Mission Statement is clear and concise: He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. Luke 9:2
VISION: Vision is a practical and purposeful necessity for believers in today’s world: If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; but when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed. Proverbs 29:18 (Message) Paul’s vision on the road to Damascus became the captivating force behind his success in ministry. It helped him focus his attention and energy on that which was purposeful and productive in the sight of God. I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should
repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance. Acts 26:19-20 We see that vision comes from God and with this He gives a strategy for its fulfilment. CMI’s vision is rooted in four basic instructions which align with our Lord’s word to Paul. OUR VISION STRATEGY:
• COVER OUR CITY (DAMASCUS) • BLESS OUR NEIGHBOURS (JERUSALEM) • SEND TO THE NATION (JUDEA) • TOUCH THE WORLD (GENTILES)
The vision is facilitated by the process of Share, Care, Prepare and Dare. We see this as the circle of life. Undergirding everything we do is the Welfare part of the process, where CMI meets the governmental requirements. All of these are explained further in this booklet. You can view the Vision Presentation online at vision.carmelcentre.org In the middle of this booklet there is a form. Please complete it and hand it into reception so we can help serve you better as you SHARE get further involved. (COVER OUR CITY)

THE MEANING OF DISCOVER: The word ‘discover’ goes back to Latin dis- and cooperire, meaning ‘to remove the covering; completely uncover.’ By 1553, it was used to mean ‘seeing or gaining knowledge of something previously unknown’ and ‘finding out; bringing to light.’ You discover (‘uncover’) something that is already there, something that has existed but is generally unknown.

NEHEMIAH 8:6-8 And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. Then all the people answered, Amen, Amen! while lifting up their hands. And they bowed their heads and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground. Also Jeshua... and the Levites, helped the people to understand the Law; and the people stood in their place. So they read distinctly from the book, in the Law of God; and they gave the sense, and helped them to understand the reading. After Israel’s return from captivity to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, Ezra the high priest brought out the book of Moses and began to read to the people to help them understand all that was contained in it. If we are going to rebuild our city and nation, then we need to help the people understand what the Word of God says about doing life together. The Word of God helps us re-establish the moral values of our society, expose the deception of this present age and bring healing to broken and bruised people. Ezra read the Word of God publicly and helped the people discover what the commands of God are, and the promises of God to those who keep them. Ezra helped uncover the wisdom of God’s Word for the people. It was a like William Tyndale, who holds the distinction for being the first man to ever print the New Testament in the English language so that the ordinary man could read and understand. I believe this is what made Britain great when it came to the truth of the Word of God.
‘The Week’ magazine published an article in their 22nd of December issue about ‘The State of the Nation’:
“The 2011 census was published last week, providing a snap shot of the changing makeup of England and Wales. The census reveals that, for the first time, fewer than half of adults are married, and that only 59% of us describe ourselves as Christian, down from 72% in 2001.” These are very disturbing statistics that need addressing to change the state of our nation. We are now considered to be a secular society where redefinition of biblical marriage is strongly contested and we have seen the church in the UK continually compromise in areas of biblical leadership and moral values. I believe that the church is responsible for allowing our nation to slide into moral deprivation and it is the church that needs to once again discover the importance of God’s Word to lead us back to moral integrity.
PREPARE YOU READY?
VISION 2013
This is the mission I believe that God requires of us in 2013. Yes, the walls are coming down to allow us the opportunity to once again speak out responsibly about the truths of God’s word in four key areas:
God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
LEADERSHIP • Leading Self Successfully • Leading our Family Relationally • Leading our Church Purposefully • Leading our Community Morally • Leading Business Righteously
The New Living Translation says it this way: All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realise what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
LIFE • Living Life Selflessly • Living Family Generationally • Living Church Educationally • Living Community Socialy • Living Business Ethically LEGACY • Establish a Script of Morality • Establish Vision for Family • Establish Church Vocationally • Establish Community Self Sufficiency • Establish a Business Charitably LAND • Independently Free Financially • Family Established Unitedly • Church Influencing Morally • Community Healed Socially • Business Expanding Influentially These are explained more fully in the presentation of the 2013 Vision. 2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of
We cannot rebuild the broken walls of our society with broken people. Our focus this year is to help people discover the wonderful truths in God’s Word that will empower them to do life and to live that life more abundantly. We are carrying a life-message, which involves bringing divine order and godly foundations into people’s lives, families, and homes. This has great power and anointing to bring freedom and release to others, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2013 Vision will help us SHARE the truths of God’s Word, CARE for the individuals and families, PREPARE them to properly lead their lives and families into wholeness, and DARE them to live it out every day successfully in their communities.
SHARE The first stage of the journey is SHARE. This essentially is sharing the love of God through the Gospel. Primarily for an unbeliever (seekers), this is their first point of contact with Carmel. Our audience is split into three areas:

From the car park to the Coffee Bean coffee shop, facilities must be clearly mapped out for visitors and friends of Carmel, so as to make their time with us a wonderful experience as they encounter the presence of God. Connecting with friends, family and visitors must be our highest priority to make their journey of faith an enjoyable and meaningful one.
Every time the Church gathers together it is an event: to present people with an opportunity to encounter God as Father. From inspired worship to the preaching of the Word, everything must be meticulously planned with the intentional goal of allowing the Holy Spirit to touch the heart of the people. Without a meaningful encounter with God there cannot be purposeful change brought in lifestyle.
YOUTH MINISTRY
CAMPUSES
Preparing this present generation of young people to be the leaders in tomorrow’s Church and nation through related and relevant gatherings and activities.
One Church with many locations across the city where people can readily receive and participate in the events planned to have an encounter with God. The strategy God gave us was to ‘Cover our City,’ we do this through the active participation of partners in the different locations.
Training them to boldly take hold of their future through the biblical principles contained in the Word of God, being doers of the Word and not hearers only.
The move to Hengrove will see the establishment of Carmel City Church South with other sites following.
CHILDREN’S CHURCH Helping our children to have their own spiritual encounter with God so as to live successfully for Christ. Teaching children about their heavenly Father and helping them to discover the gifts that God has placed in them to become world changers. Supporting and undergirding parents in the responsibility to bring up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

FAMILY LIFE GROUPS
Meeting the needs of the body of Christ is as important as seeing the Vision accomplished. Without the partners, the Vision is only a dream. Taking care of the partners at Carmel involves spirit, soul and body that encompasses our social, economical and relational responsibilities.
Home Groups will evolve into becoming Family LIFE Groups which will centre around the nucleus of the family unit. Families gather at convenient times in homes around the city to discuss the Word of God and fellowship together. Family Life Groups will have an outward focus of evangelism and outreach.

LIFE GROUPS
RECREATION
Doing life together through social activities helps the believer find their place in the purpose of God.
Family fun time together is important in any family, for both purpose and play, helping each other develop the social skills to do life. Activities that contribute to this are movie nights, barn dancing, concerts, picnics and many similar activities that involve the whole Church family.
Mentoring for all ages and genders, which is the maturing arm of the Church, extending from study of the Word to the more social and activity base of relationships found in interest groups.
HUMANITARIAN Providing a place where there is material provision for those who really need such support, through The Storehouse and the Good Samaritan Fund. Helping the partners take control of the resources God has given them to properly manage their lives and live debt free to empower them to become contributors towards the needs of others.

Providing further education in a variety of subjects. Reaching out to the wider community through education, whether knowledge based or of a more practical type, serving the community, commending the love of God.
Meeting the ongoing demand for books, CDs and DVDs which in turn promote the growth of the believer, especially in the practical application of their beliefs both in Church and in the community that they live.
CARMEL BIBLE COLLEGE
PRACTICAL MINISTRIES
Providing courses of instruction based on God’s Word that prepare students for service and ministry, developing godly character in an environment which enables the life changing power of God to do its work in each student. The first year course is to establish the foundations of life, a second year to better function in service to the body of Christ. The third year program is for those who believe they are called into full-time ministry.
Training the believer in short-term courses through the ‘Basics’ for foundational doctrine and understanding of the Church and its function. Further teaching the Church to flow in the anointing through prayer helping, counselling, healing and other practical ministry opportunities.
CARMEL CHRISTIAN SCHOOL Following the ‘Accelerated Christian Education’ system of education, which centres on the Word of God, a child is equipped for life in every area of their development. By providing individual instruction and group activities through the Christ-centred programs of the Christian School, children are prepared for the responsibilities ahead of them, educating them for now and into eternity.
