Join us for wildflower identifying at CCPR’s very first public park! There is rich history to be found at Flowing Well, featuring an artesian well and a 1-mile trail through the woods along Cool Creek. Learn about how the well became a beloved recreational and natural resource for the community while exploring the beauty of Indiana’s spring flowers.

SAPPY SATURDAY!

Freezing nights and sunny days cause the maple sap to flow through the trees. Together you and your family will learn how to tap a maple tree, make maple syrup and maple sugar candy. You will get to taste real syrup made from trees right here in Central Park. Registration is per family.

Learn the fine art and science of birding with expert naturalists from CCPR. BEESWAX CANDLE MAKING

Bees are one of Indiana’s most common and most important pollinators. Come learn all about bees, what they produce, and their significance in human lives. Beeswax candles will be made to take home, showing just one of the many ways bee products are utilized.

INDIANA MASTER NATURALIST

The Indiana Master Naturalist (IMN) program offers hands-on opportunities to learn about our natural resources. The mission of the IMN program is to bring together natural resource specialists with adult learners to foster an understanding of Indiana’s plants, water, soil and wildlife while promoting volunteer service in local communities. To complete the IMN program, you must attend at least six of the eight classes and complete 24 volunteer hours within one year of taking the class. At the completion of the course, you will receive an official IMN certificate and pin. No class 4/4 and 4/25.

Join Us for Our Annual Adaptive 5K Event!

The Adaptive 5K is a sensory-friendly event that encourages people with and without disabilities to participate and have fun together. All proceeds go towards CCPR's continued effort to provide low-cost recreation programs for individuals with disabilities.

HOLIDAY TREE RECYCLING DAY

Thinking of getting a live tree this holiday season and wondering what to do once the festivities are over? We would love to take it off your hands! Come by the Central Park Westermeier Commons parking lot to drop off your decorationfree holiday tree and enjoy a warming beverage on us. Your tree will be recycled into mulch and put to good use here in the community. A sustainability event that is good for you and good for the planet!

Become a part of CCPR’s 3nd annual Parks Beautification Month. Throughout the month of April, join us for a project as we restore and appreciate the natural beauty found in our parks. WEED WRANGLE AT FOUNDERS PARK

A Weed Wrangle is a one-day volunteer effort to remove invasive plant species from our public parks and green spaces. Staff and volunteers will be helping remove invasive bush honeysuckle from Founders Park and create valuable habitat for our local wildlife. Come and learn about invasive species, how to identify them, and how to remove them!

Go Sea Dragons! The Sea Dragons Swim team works on endurance and speed on a competitive level for all swim strokes. We will be having two swim meets this season, and purchase of the team swim suit is required. There is an additional $18 fee outside of the registration fee to access the Swimmingly app which will keep track of your swimmer's times and scores at each swim meet. YOUTH FITNESS SWIMMING

Designed for experienced swimmers who are ready to take their skills to the next level. Instructors will help swimmers perfect their technique in all four competitive strokes, while guiding them through workouts to build their endurance in the water. Swimmers should have some knowledge of freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly and be able to swim at least one length of the pool independently.

AMERICAN RED CROSS CLASSES

LIFEGUARDING, BLENDED LEARNING

Learn life-saving skills, in and out of the water. This blended learning course combines online learning and in-person skills training. Completion of this two week-long online course and two-day in-person skills training will earn you an American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certification. Participants must be able to attend all scheduled classes for the session and complete the online portion before the start of the scheduled class dates. Join us on the first Friday of the program for and optional skill development and test-out session from 5:00-8:00pm.

ADULT AND PEDIATRIC FIRST AID/CPR/AED

Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to act in emergency situations. Led by our experienced staff, this American Red Cross course teaches you how to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants. Participants will be able to give care in an emergency, help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until medical help arrives. Those who successfully complete this course receive an American Red Cross certification in First Aid, CPR and AED.

LIFEGUARDING RECERTIFICATION, BLENDED LEARNING

This hybrid course includes online modules and in-person skills training for those who currently hold an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and need to recertify. This class will review the course skills and knowledge taught in the lifeguarding course. Successful completion of this course will include a renewal of the participant’s American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification for two more years. Participants must have a current ARC Lifeguarding certificate and be able to attend all scheduled classes.

The perfect art program for any artist who wants to have a ton of fun while using plenty of colors, textures, and paint! 5K TRAINING PROGRAM

Have you ever dreamed of completing a 5K, but thought it would be too difficult? Join us for our Saturday morning 5K training program! It is designed to help you complete our very own 5K! The Indiana Master Naturalist (IMN) program offers hands-on opportunities to learn about our natural resources. The mission of the IMN program is to bring together natural resource specialists with adult learners to foster an understanding of Indiana’s plants, water, soil and wildlife while promoting volunteer service in local communities. To complete the IMN program, you must attend at least six of the eight classes and complete 24 volunteer hours within one year of taking the class. TAI CHI STRENGTH

In this class you will learn Tai Chi ball exercises using one larger and two smaller exercise balls, appropriately sized for each person. The exercises are done by moving the balls in gentle circular patterns closer to and farther from the body. Tai Chi ball exercises are used to tone and strengthen the body, improve balance, and reduce stress. No experience needed.

PROGRAM REFUND POLICY (excludes ESE)

If a class is cancelled by Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation, a full refund or a make-up class will be given. For any other reason, a Refund Request may be filled out and submitted a minimum of three weeks from the respective start date to receive a 100% refund, less a $10 service charge. All refunds are subject to the State Board of Accounts claim procedure and may take three to four weeks. Refunds may be issued in the form of a check. If you were transferred into the program you are requesting to cancel, you will receive a refund via check.
