La Pedrera, Casa Milà 3) Read the following text and translate the underlined words into Spanish or Catalan. The roof-terrace The visitor will find the roof-terrace exactly as it was in 1912: with six staircases, two ventilation towers and seven chimneys. Each of these components is finished in a different way, covered with trencadís (broken tile shard mosaic) which combines Ulldecona stone, marble and ceramics. The staircases and chimneys have long fascinated artists, writers and filmmakers, who have seen in them phantasmagorical figures, warriors, megalithic monuments, dream landscapes and sea ornamentation. The roof-terrace at La Pedrera offers visitors a panoramic view across the city of Barcelona and vistas of three essential features of the Gaudí route: the Casa Batlló, the Sagrada Família and the Parc Güell. 4)The text describes some features of the house using literary metaphors:”dream landscapes”, etc. Try to write a literary metaphor of 3 monuments you have visited in Barcelona; You can use the following sentence, or any poetical image: “....... is like ..... “ 5) Self check: read your work and give yourself marks out of ten for: • Handwriting • Spelling • Punctuation • Grammar • Interesting ideas • Design
