CRISTO Quinto trabajo de la compañía que, al igual que sus proyectos anteriores, se caracteriza por ser el resultado de una larga investigación escénica donde el estudio teórico, la generación de una dramaturgia desde el interior del proceso y la experimentación con el lenguaje audiovisual fueron fundamentales para concebir la puesta en escena. ¿Qué viene a la cabeza cuando se nombra a Cristo?, ¿una imagen o “millones de diversas representaciones que encadenadas entre sí que forman este ser concebido como realidad al que llamamos Cristo”? El elenco se pregunta cómo representar una cadena de representaciones y si eso que llamamos realidad no es más que una acumulación de representaciones. Cristo participa en la deconstrucción de Cristo sin plantear una lectura histórica ni religiosa, sino poniendo en escena a cinco actores y tres técnicos frente a la dificultad de representar a Cristo. Con este trabajo, Teatro de Chile reafirma su trayectoria en la escena teatral chilena, obteniendo una excelente recepción del público y la crítica especializada, y recibiendo invitaciones a múltiples festivales en Europa y América Latina. En 2008, la compañía participa con Cristo en el Festival de Dos Mundos en Spoleto (Italia).
CHRIST Millions of ideas can emerge when Christ is mentioned. What comes to mind when it is mentioned? Just a image or “a million diverse representations that chained all together form this being conceived as reality that we call Christ”?, are the main preoccupations of this play. The cast thinks about how they can represent a chain of representations and what is “real” in this cumulus of representations of representations. Christ participates in the deconstruction of Christ in the set, without the intention of suggesting an historic or religious point of view, but installing on stage five actors and three technicians in front of the challenge of representing Christ.

MANUELA INFANTE / Dramaturgia & Dirección Manuela Infante es Licenciada en Artes de la Universidad de Chile y Magíster en Análisis Cultural de la Universidad de Ámsterdam. Trabajando como directora y dramaturga ha montando con su compañía Teatro de Chile las obras “Prat” (2001), “Juana” (2003), “Narciso” (2005), “Rey Planta” (2006) “Cristo” (2007), “Ernesto” (2010), “Multicancha” (2010) y “Loros Negros” (2011). Todas financiadas por el FONDART (Fondo Nacional de las Artes, Consejo de la Cultura y las Artes de Chile). A estas obras se suma el montaje “Fin” (2008), producido y estrenado en Italia en coproducción con el festilval de Modena. Recientemente Manuela montó la obra “What´s he building in there?” (2011), como residente del centro de investigación teatral de Bob Wilson, The Watermill Center. Este mismo año dirigió “Don´t feed the Humans”, estrenado en Schwankhalle, Bremen, Alemania. Tres de sus obras han sido publicadas por editoriales en Chile y el extranjero. Manuela se desempeña también como docente en distintas escuelas de teatro en Chile.
Manuela Infante / Playwright & Direction Manuela Infante holds a BA in Arts from the University of Chile and a MA in Cultural Analysis from the University of Amsterdam. Working as a director and playwright with her stable group “Teatro de Chile” Manuela has staged “Prat” (2001), “Juana” (2003), “Narciso” (2005), “Rey Planta” (2006) “Cristo” (2007), “Ernesto” (2010), “Multicancha” (2010) and “Loros Negros” (2011). All works have been funded FONDART (National Fund for the Arts). Also, independently, Manuela has directed “Fin” (2008) coproduced and premiered in the festival of Modena, Italy. “What´s he Building in There” (2011) created in residency at Bob Wilson´s The wtermill Center for performance research, premiered and shown in several stages in New York, and “Don´t Feed the Humans” (2011) premiered in Schwankhalle, Bremen, Germany. Three of her plays have been published in Chile and abroad. Manuela also works as a professor in several theatre departments in Santiago, Chile.
