Director of Communications San Francisco University High School was founded in 1973 with the intent of offering innovative, co-educational, independent education in the Bay Area. Since its foundation, UHS has created a vibrant learning community that values strong academics, while also nurturing the interior of the student through collaboration and creativity. Located on four campuses in the beautiful Pacific Heights neighborhood, UHS fully embraces its home in one of the world most innovative cities from day trips to many of the cities’ museums and creative spaces, to an impressive community engagement program that helps student gain a deeper understanding of San Francisco’s diverse neighborhoods. Grounded by its strong foundation, UHS is also looking forward with a new strategic design that aims to create an innovative and flexible plan for the school’s future. Director of Communications: The Director of Communications will work collaboratively with the Director of Development, Director of Admissions, the Head of School and the strategic design team on crafting strategy, vision, concept, and content of a range of communications and possess a dynamic scope of storytelling capabilities -- print, graphic, social media, video, and web. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Communication will report to the Head of School and serve as the school’s media contact as well as a member of the crisis management team. The “Communicatorin-Chief” is responsible for leading all communication efforts between the school and key constituent groups to communicate all aspects of the School’s mission, culture, and programs as well as the unique and ambitious goals of its strategic direction.


Experience and Skills:  Ability to articulate mission, vision, and strategic design in a compelling way to diverse audiences.  Outstanding written and oral communication skills  Ability to work with outside designers, edit content, and coordinate timely production of projects, particularly the school semi-annual print magazine.  Experience with website content management  Familiarity with InDesign, Photoshop, and iMovie a plus  Deep appreciation and understanding of the School’s mission and the ability to articulate its values and vision internally and externally.  Proactive, independent, strategic, and creative thinker who is a strong team player and creative thought partner, willing to enthusiastically take on additional responsibility as necessary  Bachelor’s degree.

Compensation and Benefits: The appointment is a full-time, year-round, administrative position and the compensation package will be very competitive nationally and commensurate with experience, degree attainment and the national independent school and college markets.
