Marketing Strategies Guest Articles

The easiest way to build a platform in today’s world is to start a blog . You will get the most control by using self-hosted WordPress. This is what I use and what other serious bloggers are also using. Many people think that the process of setting up a hosting service and installing WordPress is complicated and time-consuming. But it’s actually not. In this written tutorial, I will show you how to setup your WordPress blog the fast and easy way. The good news is that you won’t need any technical expertise to setup your blog. This tutorial is simple. I walk you through the process, one click at a time. Step 1 – Choose a Web host The web host is the company that houses your site and provides you with email addresses, space for your web pages, free scripts for blogging, forums, social networking, shopping carts and more. You can get hosting for $10 a month. Step 2 – Register your Domain Name Your website needs an address and that’s exactly what a domain name is. Choose wisely because this name will represent your brand. You can get a domain name that’s www.yourwebsite.com for $12 yearly. I suggest you go to Hostgator.com, choose a domain name and hosting plan. If you have a coupon code, use it. The signed up and log in to your control panel. Fill in your admin email, blog title, first and last name. Step 3 – Install WordPress Install wordpress using quick install on your control panel under software and services. Wait around 2 to 4 hours before your site will go online. If you’re website is up and running already, go to your website and log in to your admin and dashboard. settings and update it. We all know that WordPress revolutionized the way we build websites because there is no software to buy. You simply install the WordPress script from your web host, launch the admin panel, choose a theme design and begin writing your content. Because WordPress is dynamic, you can add functionality very easily using plugins. These are scripts that you install to help you do so many things. No longer do you have to spend time uploading complicated scripts just to add shopping carts, comments, and all other kinds of functionality to your website.

Step 4 – Configure Settings Once you log in to your WordPress dashboard after installing your website, Change the homepage settings. Click on the permalinks, change the post name and save changes. This is the URL that will be used for your post and sub pages all across your website. This is very important to help you with search engine optimization as it helps you rank and index your website easier. Step 5 – Install the Theme Themes is how your website looks. Just click Appearance, Choose your themes, install and activate it. What’s cool about WordPress is that you have access to a variety of themes you can choose from, so building your website is a breeze. And when you’re ready to change designs, just choose another theme and your site will update instantly! Step 6 – Install Plug ins For added functionality, find and install a new plug in you want. Click install and once plug in software was installed, you need to activate the plug in you’ve just downloaded by clicking on the Activate Plug in next to it. Step 7 – Add Content to your Site You can do this by customizing your sidebar . If the theme you have chosen is widgetized, you can easily add content to your sidebar by navigating the Appearance and then Widgets. Select the widgets that you like to add on your sidebar by dragging and dropping them. You can also add a social media button such Youtube, Facebook and Twitter by copying the embedded code and paste it on the html widget box. WordPress also allows you to Set Up your Blog Categories for your post to help you organize your blog content. It’s best to use your target keywords and key phrases as categories if possible. To set up your categories, click on the dropdown next to posts, click on the categories link, enter the category name and add it. When you add pages, click on pages and add a new page such as About Me. Add bio or picture and publish it. If you want to add a Contact Me Page, put your phone number, email, insert google maps, grab the code, paste on your website and publish it. Now if you think that building your own WordPress website is too difficult, just take a look at the tutorials I’ve written here. I think you’ll see that you could have your own website up and running today or tomorrow.
