illumina te a touch of light Creating spaces through a gentle installation in a cathedral garden This design started from the brief ‘An X-peri-ment-tal Pavilion’. The theme of the design, ‘illumination’, came from the derive at the beginning of the project across the city centre: this also hi-lighted a site for the project. The choice of matieral for the deisgn also came from the derive - fabric - due to macro photographs taken during the journey. The result of design was the form of an architectural installation within the Gardens of St. James. Left, above Concept model made from wax, twigs and fabric. Transient paroxysm a russo-fashion agitation in the etheral city of paris Ulyana sergeenko escapes to the haute culture captial in order to pursue her passion of fashion. Transient Paroxysm is a Russo creative hybrid of preservation inspired by haute couture. It aims to reunite private and public domain while igniting a reacknowledgment, a passion for hand craft fashion and great Russian heritage. Inspiration was primarily taken from the recently successful haute couture design, Ulyana Sergeenko. She was chosen as the starting point for this project. Research was then undertaken into the modern history of Russia and from this the spacial programme was taken: a ballet theatre; an archive of fashion, theatre and the arts; a fashion atelier and an apartment for Sergeenko’s own personal use.

Collage study of location in Paris
The concept of this design is to use the vologda lace as means of creating a building. An initial response derived was to abstract the physical lace into a form through hardening the fabric with wax which was then place onto the isolated site through an axonometric. However, this was a very literal translation. An arbitrary form. A further investigation into the lace was needed. In spite of this, there were ethereal qualities of the lace that could be derived: lightness
•
delicacy
•
intricacy
