goals

1 Support the physical & mental well-being of patients receiving cancer treatment. 2 Encourage caregivers to implement caring techniques which instills a feeling of being cared for in patients. 3 Create a safe space for cancer patients and caregivers that contradicts the institutional healthcare environment they experience during treatment at the hospital. 4 Remove the negative connotation given to palliative care which is usually offered at hospitals and hospice centers. 5 Implement wellness through the architecture, design, program & overall experience.

concept

The design aims to create an experience that challenges the traditional yacht through the eyes of Manish Arora + the application of his vision. A spectrum of textures captured in the intrinsic details; hand stitched + authentic but driven by a folkloric future fantasy. SENSUUM SPA Cruise ship design Team project Client: Virgin Voyages Awards: Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition

the client

Sense of community Equality Sustainability

concept

Sensuum is a holistic approach to wellness through an experience of the senses. It aims to serve as a pause in the midst of constant frenzy, represented through the use of curvilinear forms that take the edge off of the fast-paced lifestyle and sharper forms commonly associated with the ship’s brand. The spaces look to treat users from the inside out using natural and sustainable products, which ties with Virgin’s own brand. Soft lavender accents can be found all over the spa as users reconnect and refresh through spiritual experiences of the senses.

concept

The design will showcase the Americana look through the Industrial Revolution witnessed in the early 1900s that really paved the way for America we know today, by experimenting through the exposure of natural, unrefined elements that came from that era, specifically steel, wood, and brick. The space will provoke a warm feeling at American Social that gives a sense of timeless connection to the past.

AMERICAN SOCIAL BAR + KITCHEN Restaurant design Individual project Client: American Social Bar + Restaurant at Brickell Awards: Design excellence - FIU

concept

The redesign of American Social Bar + Kitchen- a space located in Brickell, surrounded by the Miami River, fosters an inclusive environment where everyone can feel at home. The design is tied to the project’s location by merging industrial finishes, natural forms, and the vibrancy of Miami. This is achieved by the exposure of various natural and synthetic materials such as brick, wood, concrete, and steel, and the use of accent colors throughout the space. The blend of these elements makes American Social feel timeless, and enables people to experience their surroundings and connect with their friends and family.

spatial model

The model emphasizes the merge between Philipp Plein’s edgy brand and the organization and connectivity that a workplace should have. The skull in the center represents the hierarchy of the company, Phillip Plein being the brain where his ideas are distributed among each circuit board which symbolize each department as a system. They are all connected by wires and by the hexagonal structure. The reflective surface portrays dynamism throughout the space. It also reflects the top which evokes connectivity and introduces the angularity that is seen in the ceiling of the workplace. The model also embodies technology which is seen throughout his brand. The colors used bring out his vision of the future and make the model daring yet elegant.

for the best.

design guidelines

1 Emphasize the important connection between the floors with the staircase that serves as a visual and physical connection to ease the flow of the employees and connect the employees with Philipp Plein. 2 Distribute collaboration and social spaces throughout the workspace for both floors to promote interaction and well-being. 3 Locate areas that need natural sunlight on the north and south sides of the workspace where the windows are located to improve well-being.

collaboration area

4 Create a flexible workplace that allows for user control with different systems such as technology, visual and acoustical privacy, furnishings, and sunlight to reinforce flexibility. 5 Balance Phillip Plein’s philosophy of fun, luxury, dynamism, uniqueness, and positive spirit with the professionalism needed at a workplace. 6 Design a space drawn from the aesthetics from the brand and retail stores such as the crystal skull, rich and distinctive materials, glossy and matte finishes, contrasts of light and shade, for a strong sense of ownership for the workers. open office area
