PURPOSE
GOALS
The palliative care facility at Amara Cay will offer a distinctive experience for its users, offering a place of respite away from the stressful medical facilities where they receive treatment. Through the use of holistic treatments, such as sound therapy, patients will experience relief from the various side effects associated with chemotherapy.
Support the physical & mental well-being of patients receiving cancer treatment. Encourage caregivers to implement caring techniques which instills a feeling of being cared for in patients. Create a safe space for cancer patients and caregivers that contradicts the institutional healthcare environment they experience during treatment at the hospital. Remove the negative connotation given to palliative care which is usually offered at hospitals and hospice centers. Implement wellness through the architecture, design, program & overall experience.
