About the Carolina Show Ski Team The Carolina Show Ski Team was founded in 1988 as a non-profit organization with the express mission to promote the sport of waterskiing in a fun-filled family environment. Our skiers live in both North and South Carolina and range in age from 3 to‌. well lets just say some of us are considerably older!! Our team performs ski shows throughout the Carolinas and every Friday night at Tega Cay’s Windjammer Park. Our team also participates in ski tournaments. Over the years we have competed in tournaments in Massachusetts, Indiana and Florida. If you would like more information, would like to join in our fun, or are interested in having us perform at your next party or venue, please contact Russell Frase at 803548-4820. You can also learn more about us at our website.

Some of the different types of skiing you may see in our show:

Swivel Ski

The most graceful act in show skiing! The skier’s binding is mounted to the ski with a ball bearing assembly allowing the skier to rotate 180, 360, 720, or even 1080 degrees – all while the ski tracks towards the boat!

Jump

Skiers hit the 5-1/2 foot ramp at 32 mph!

Doubles

Pairs skiing which incorporates moves similar to doubles ice skating. Note the male skier is strapped to the tow rope enabling him the use of both hands.

Barefooting

At speeds of 40mph or greater, barefoot skiing is quite a rush!

SKI TEAM BUILDS NEW PERFORMANCE PLATFORM This year, the Carolina Show Ski Team reached a new milestone. Not only do we celebrate 25 years as a team, but we also celebrate the unveiling of a new permanent, Performance Platform at Windjammer Park. The Performance Platform has been a project in the making for several years – and a huge collaborative effort on part of the ski team, the city of Tega Cay, and Duke Energy. The performance platform will be used by the ski team for practices, shows, and community classes, such as Learn-to-Ski Clinics (scheduled for July & August this summer). When not in use by the team, it will be available for the general public to provide access for boating, fishing, and other water activities. The platform measures 20 x 40 feet, with Ipe decking – a unique hardwood - and includes an attached aluminum walkway. Since being put in place, the platform has already been put to use by members of the community, including a group of students from Fort Mill High School. When their prom night activities were cancelled last minute due to a family illness, parents joined together to create a special evening – dinner on the platform for 20 couples, catered and surrounded by candle light. Throughout the week and especially on weekends, it is common to see friends and family enjoying the platform, and more importantly, enjoying the new access to the lake. The ski team, along with a few donations from members of the community, funded and built the estimated $30,000+ performance platform which has been donated to the City of Tega Cay. Donations collected at ski shows and travel performances scheduled this summer will help offset the outstanding costs, and the ski team, a 501-3c non-profit organization, gladly welcomes any additional financial sponsorship or community support to continue to pay off the platform.
