Detailed Schedule Tuesday, September 30 Book Awards Reception 6:30 pm–9:00 pm Free event Sponsored by
Kick off the third annual Heartland Fall Forum by celebrating two regions of award-winning authors. We’ll recognize the winners of the Midwest Booksellers Choice Awards; Great Lakes, Great Reads; and the Voice of the Heartland, an award presented by GLIBA and MIBA together for the first time. Includes hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, and complimentary books.
Hosted by Jennifer Wills Geraedts, Beagle Books & Bindery
Voice of the Heartland The Voice of the Heartland is granted by GLIBA and MIBA to a company or individual who has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to bookselling in the Midwest and whose work elevates the presence of independent bookstores. This year, the recipient is Kate DiCamillo, who has demonstrated a commitment to literature since she moved to Minneapolis in 1994. Thirty years old, she worked at the book distributor Bookmen picking children’s books, which gave her the inspiration to write and the opportunity to be published. The rest is history.
