LATIN AMERICAN ART EXHIBITION
I N T RO We are very excited to share with you that this year the Latin American Arts & Culture Festival has been awarded as an Alberta Cultural Days Celebration Site, so we will be celebrating all the month of September with diverse activities to showcase different artistic and cultural expressions that are representative of our Mexican culture, Latin American heritage, and Spanish Language. In addition, during all the month of October we will be celebrating the Latin American Heritage Month, so the festival will run from September 1st. to October 31, 2021. The festival features a Visual Arts Exhibition, physical and online, with the participation of Latin American artists that will expose their artwork including paintings and sculptures in the hallways of cSpace King Edward. The exhibition will showcase the artistic work and professional profiles of the participants. We want to encourage the public to support the artistic community by considering buying a piece of art of these talented artists. This year, we are hosting for the first time Country Cultural Displays featuring eight Latin American countries including Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela. With the collaboration of diverse folklore and cultural

community groups, the festival will showcase each country’s history, gastronomy, and diverse cultural aspects. Some of the activities will take place in person at cSpace King Edward, in Marda Loop, Calgary, that is home to Casa Mexico. Some other, will happen in our virtual platform. In this way, more people can choose to attend in person or to join online from any part of the world. You are welcome to join us in person or online. We would like to thank all our sponsors and community partners that are supporting the Latin American Arts & Culture Festival 2021. Our goal is to present to all Canadians and to the world, the diverse cultural and artistic expressions developed by the Latin American community. Please stay tuned for more updates. Visit www.casamexico.ca and our social media platforms for the full calendar of activities happening during September and October.

When Claudia Janet was a teenager she decided to learn how to paint. She started to play with a canvas and some oils. Since then, she has been experimenting with several materials to create her art, such as oils, acrylics, watercolors, texture, pastels, charcoal pencils, and sometimes recycled materials such as foam, Compact discs, or anything she feels fits the purpose. She is a self-taught person, she likes to have books on hand that she can consult for help, and she looks for tutorials to learn a particular techniques. she is also constantly challenging herself by experimenting with new materials. Her style has been changing regularly, sometimes it’s more gothic and dark using only black, white and grays, or sometimes it can be very cheerful with bright colors and cute characters, it depends on her mood that day. Most of the time she uses art as therapy. Claudia has participated in several exhibitions in Italy, England, Mexico, and Canada as a solo artist and some collectives. "I will always be an artist until the day I die; I feel excited to think about what kind of art I will be creating in the future. I love my art and I hope people who see it will enjoy it as much as I did when I created it." – Claudia Janet
