Casadh is a registered FETAC/QQI Centre and delivers formal educational workshops in computers, personal effectiveness and communications as well as many other vocational and therapeutic workshops in harm reduction relapse prevention.

Casadh offers a unique community based three stage approach in Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation.

This approach allows participants to stabilise illicit drug use or at risk prescription drug use, helps prepare participants for a medically supervised detox, followed by entry to a Drug free programme for after-care treatment There are three seperate stages in Casadh:

Entry to all groups is through referral from a registered clinic, doctor or HSE approved addiction centre or programme. You may self refer, but you must meet certain criteria as laid down by the HSE and DSP. All of our groups follow a mixture of formal and therapeutic activities designed to ensure participants are actively engaged in recovery focussed activity with close group and individual supports.

Casadh is a QQI/FETAC Registered Centre. We offer training opportunities at FETAC level 3 & 4 in General Learning- which would include the following modules Computers (3 Modules) Food and nutrition Maths Communications Personal Effectiveness Art & Design Preparation for work We would also assist participants to source training through an individual learning plan(ILP)- to identify tailor made training opprtunities which would be delivered off site.

Casadh encourages participants to return to work and education and many participants access third level education on leaving the Casadh programme. Many have have gained invaluable work experience and employment in the addiction/health sector as project workers and in some cases become qualified addiction counsellors

Aimed at participants aiming to make a significant change in their recovery.

The overall aim of this programme is to introduce participants to strategies to engage in harm Reduction, to reduce illegal drug use, and to stabilise on prescribed medication only. Participants also take part in daily scheduled therapeutic vocational and formal education workshops. The stabilisation group is generally for one year in duration.

Once stability has been achieved, participants access a detoxification support group, which prepares the participant for detoxification in year 2 through group work and individual one to one support All participants sign up for and follow the Community Detox Protocols

Progression Group

Primarily aimed at persons coming from the stabilisation group, the progression group has, as its focus, the move towards a drug free lifestyle.

There are increased therapeutic group and individual supports, with the aim of preparing the participant to enter a detoxification facility or Therapeutic Community or completing the detox in the community itself.

The Detox element is medically supervised by the participants own GP or clinic and the assigned Key-Worker

Entrance to the Drug Free group is through graduation from the Stabilisation and detoxification group or by referral from other Detox/ Therapeutic programmes.

The emphasis in this group is on increased self-reliance and utilising resources effectively in remaining drug free.

There is increased emphasis on support structures outside of Casadh and developing structured plans and activities that promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. There is a focus on therapeutic modules and rehabilitation training, including Art, Drama, Film making, Computers, and Return to Work.

Participants are expected to make an individual effort to source external training and education so that an effective exit plan is developed. The key aim of the drug free programm e is to allow participants engage in healthy structured activity and to adjust and reintegrate into society

When there’s addiction in the family unit, whether it is a child, sibling or parent, everyone suffers. Often the addiction or intimidation becomes so crippling that family members suffer as much as the addict from its effects. The Family support service was set up to create a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for family members of drug users to come to share common issues on coping with drug use within the family unit.

Family support is generally understood as the provision of services and interventions that support families in carrying out their normal functions.

This service is centred on counselling, advice workshops and key working interventions.

Family support workers are there to strengthen family members to cope with issues arising from drug use in the family/home.
