SCHOOL AWARDS GIVEN AT GRADUATION Samuel Roberts Noble Scholars are the boy and girl in each class who have the highest numerical average for this academic year. Kyuna Lee, Jack Edcil Stanfield, William Walter Bankhead, Aaliyal Ngoc Tram Tran, Krish Ankur Mody, Sydney Claire Hulen, Krish Kalpesh Patel, Audrey Wang The Phi Beta Kappa Award is presented each year to that student in the senior class who has demonstrated superior scholarship over the last four years. Divya Keli Chandrasekaran The Summa Cum Laude Award was established by the late The Right Reverend Thomas Casady and is awarded each year to that member of the senior class who has maintained the highest scholastic average throughout his or her high school years. Shanta Olivia Ramdas The Ian Rennert Memorial Award, created in memory of Ian Rennert, class of 1987, is awarded to a senior who displays a fullness of vision that unifies and elevates his or her endeavors, whether they be academic, artistic, or athletic, beyond the scope of ordinary achievement. Shanta Olivia Ramdas The Reverend Canon James R. Harris Award, created in memory of The Reverend Canon James R. Harris, former comptroller of the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma and longtime friend of Casady School, is presented to an Upper Division student who has made significant contributions to the Casady Community. The recipient has enriched our corporate life, drawing from a spiritual commitment and expressed by repeated acts of thoughtfulness and service. Bianca Thamara Caves The Alumni Award, a permanent trophy of the School, was established in honor of Casady graduates in appreciation of their continuing interest in and support of the School. This award is given to the students who have made significant contributions to the School in their area of ability. Carson Lee Buffalo, Kiran Nikhil Naidu, Aria Devi Nanda, Ruthie Monae Presswood The Heads of School Award is given in honor of Stephen Gassaway; Reverend Michael Martin; Shaun Kelly, Jr.; Howard W. Taber; Dr. Robert B. Woolsey; Richard B. McCubbin; Barnaby J. Roberts; Mark H. Mullin; Charles W. Britton; David W. Gorham; Christopher C. Bright; and Nathan L. Sheldon, whose leadership built this great School. The award is given to a senior who has made a special contribution to the life and spirit of Casady School. Caroline Kathleen Watkins The Trustees’ Award, a permanent trophy of the School, is established in honor of past and present trustees in gratitude for their devoted service to Casady School. This award is given to that student who, by virtue of his or her character, loyalty, and service, has made Casady a finer School. Jonah Aaron Craine The Casady Award, named in honor of the late The Right Reverend Thomas Casady, is a permanent trophy of the School on which are inscribed the names of the winners from year to year. This is the highest award of the School. The recipient is that student who, in character, scholarship, leadership, and devotion, has made the most outstanding contribution to the life of the School. SCHOOL AWARDS GIVEN AT ASSEMBLIES Acolytes
Bianca Thamara Caves, Rachel Claire Fryer, Tucker David Jacobsen The Archibald Cason Edwards Sr. Scholarship provides a one-year grant to a boy in the rising junior class who shows talent and initiative in the studio arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, or photography). The Chair of the Fine Arts Department chooses the recipient. Edward Jiwoo Kang The Brown University Associated Alumni Award honors the student who, as a junior, best combines a high ability in English expression, both written and spoken, with outstanding personal qualities. The members of the Upper Division English Department select the recipient by consensus. Olivia Li-Ling Wang The “C” Club Award is given to the senior boy who, in the eyes of the School, has surely gained from the School’s precepts and direction, to the end that, by constructive use of such native athletic and scholastic talents as he may have, stands as the epitome of any graduate, as one who leaves the School better for his presence. Kyler Keith Scoville The Catriona M. Mitchell Mathematics Award is given in honor of Trio Mitchell, longtime mathematics teacher and Director of Studies. The award is presented annually, upon the recommendation of the Mathematics Department, to that high-achieving student in the Upper Division who displays an enthusiastic interest in and love of mathematics, both in the classroom and with fellow students. William Walter Bankhead The Chilton Powell Talent Award is named in honor of the second Diocesan Bishop of Oklahoma, The Right Reverend Chilton Powell, and granted in recognition of creative and independent talent. Abigail Loris Fakhoury The Dartmouth Cup, given to Casady School as a permanent trophy by the Oklahoma Alumni of Dartmouth College, is awarded annually to the boy who, in the judgment of the faculty, has contributed the most during the year to the athletic life of the School, through ability, good sportsmanship, and team spirit. Tucker David Jacobsen The Ena Cochran Award is given to the girl in her class who has demonstrated her consideration for others, through sympathy and friendship and her dependable loyalty to Casady, through small, unobtrusive, but constantly repeated acts of service as well as by more conspicuous actions that yield honor to herself. Abigail Loris Fakhoury (12th) Ria Sandeep Shah, Rebecca Eden Zewdie (11th) Audrey Trinity Haynes (10th) Julia Rebeka Ungvari (9th) The Frances Nagle Award, named for longtime foreign language teacher, Frances Nagle, is presented to a girl in her junior year who displays outstanding personal character and intellectual promise. Aaliyal Ngoc Tram Tran The Harvard Prize was established by Archibald C. Edwards (1906-1998). He was born in Oklahoma City, attended Central High School, and graduated from Harvard University in 1928. Four of his children attended Casady, one of whom was a member of the original ninth grade class in 1947. The Harvard Prize is awarded to that student in the junior class who has made the greatest progress in general studies, not for excellence in either science or the humanities but for excelling in both. Olivia Li-Ling Wang The Judge Clarence M. Mills Scholar Award named for the distinguished Oklahoma City Judge and longtime supporter of Casady, is given to the student with demonstrated achievement and proficiency in a foreign language, level III or above. The Margaret Lytle Griner Prize is named in honor of Margaret Lytle Griner, Class of 1954. A $1,000, one-year grant is given to a girl in the rising senior class who has integrity, has shown leadership skills, and has been significantly involved in her class or School activities. Grace Le Thien Hua The Margaret Tuck Award, honoring longtime English teacher, Margaret Tuck, is presented to a girl in her sophomore year who displays outstanding personal character and intellectual promise. Sophia Raquel Stidham The Patrick S. Nagle Poetry Award is given in memory of Patrick S. Nagle, class of 1957. The award is given to that student in the Upper Division who, as decided by the Chair of the English Department, has written poetry of superior quality during the year. There will not be an organized competition for the award, nor need the poem(s) have been published. The decision rests solely with the Chair of the English Department, though the Chair may seek advice from colleagues. Abigail Loris Fakhoury The Princeton Club of Oklahoma City Award, is presented to the outstanding boy in the sophomore class at Casady School. Edward Jiwoo Kang The Reverend Samuel L. Botkin Award, given in honor of The Reverend Samuel L. Botkin, former Vicar of St. Edward’s Chapel, is given for outstanding thoughtfulness and insight in the study of our nation’s past. William Mattox Blaik The Richard A. Marble Award, honoring longtime science teacher, Richard A. Marble, is given to a girl in the freshman class who displays outstanding personal character and intellectual promise. Eva Ann Scheer The Robert Woolsey Scholar Award, given in honor of Dr. Robert B. Woolsey, Headmaster Emeritus, is given for demonstrated achievement and proficiency in Latin (at the Advanced Placement level) or Greek (at the level of the equivalent of three years of high school study). Jason Christopher Li The Roy C. Meera Joy Abuelshar The Smith College Trophy, given to Casady School as a permanent trophy by the Oklahoma Alumnae of Smith College, is awarded annually to that girl who, in the judgment of the faculty, has contributed most during the year to the athletic life of the School, through ability, good sportsmanship, and team spirit. Shanta Olivia Ramdas The Stephen J. Sokolosky Memorial Award, given in memory of Stephen J. Sokolosky, class of 1985, is determined by a vote of the members of the senior class. This award is presented to a senior boy who demonstrates concern and support for others, along with an infectious enthusiasm for life in the Casady Community. Jonah Aaron Craine The Thomas T. Tongue Scholarship, is a one-year grant given to both a girl and boy in the rising sophomore class who has demonstrated highly developed integrity and honesty, healthy and positive social interaction with peers and adults, and consistent and conscientious application of individual effort in academics and school activities. The Vanderbilt University Award is given to a boy in the freshman class who displays outstanding personal character and intellectual promise. Colin Joseph Jones The William Walker Fine Arts Award is given in memory of longtime administrator and teacher, William Walker. This award is presented annually, upon the recommendation of the Fine Arts Department, to that student in the Upper Division whose creative presence and artistic talents have significantly enriched the Casady Community. Ashlynn Dickinson The Geneva Hood Memorial Award, established by Dr. and Mrs. J. William Hood, honors an outstanding teacher. Amanda Pardue The John R. Horter Memorial Award is presented to that member of the Casady School faculty or staff who is recognized by his or her colleagues for character, service to the School, and for love of fellowman. Jaime Steinke The Sandra Billups Cerny Award is presented to that member of the Casady School faculty, staff, or administration who is recognized by his or her colleagues for dedication to the School and excellence in meeting his or her responsibilities.
