Sunriver Resort’s Golf Professionals

Courtney and Kevin Erdman feel incredibly fortunate that they get to work together at a place they love.

Since 2015, Kevin has been the director of instruction, and Courtney has been the assistant golf professional at Sunriver Resort. They shared it’s rare to find married PGA professionals working at the same resort or golf course.

“Sunriver is the best place in the world for us to live and work,” Kevin said. “There are incredible golf courses and fly fishing.”

“We both love being outdoors, and we have traveled all over the United States,” Courtney said. “Sunriver is the best place to live because it’s a resort in the wilderness.”

They met on the golf course when she was a high school freshman playing for the boys’ golf team, and he was a college freshman. They were friends while she was in high school, then Kevin asked Courtney on a date. He proposed to her at the driving range where they first met.

They both played in college, were contestants on Golf Channel TV shows, and have several championships to their names.

From 2006 to 2008, Kevin coached and caddied for Courtney on the LPGA Futures Tour. “We have an awesome relationship. Being Courtney’s coach and caddie taught us how to be better at communicating and compromising,” he said.

They shared a few tips on playing at Sunriver’s four golf courses. “They all have their unique challenges,” Kevin said. “It just depends on whether you want to play on a course with water hazards, tree-lined fairways, a 9-hole, par 3 or a mixture of it all.”

Kevin and Courtney shared golfers tend to hit the ball seven to ten percent farther in Sunriver.“That’s because the air is thinner because Sunriver is at 4,200 feet,” Kevin explained.

They share a similar philosophy for golf lessons, trying to keep lessons as simple as possible while making learning fun, Courtney said.

They both begin lessons by asking their students what they want to learn, then customizing their lessons. They invite golf enthusiasts to learn more about Sunriver’s golf program by visiting sunriverresort.com.
