Open for skiing and snowboarding from November through May, the 9,065-foot volcano is the tallest resort peak in Oregon and Washington and offers an expansive 4,323 skiable acres.
Known for quality snow, diverse terrain and 360-degree summit skiing experience, Mt. Bachelor is truly one-of-a-kind. Whether you prefer to seek out powder stashes in the trees, charge steep heart-pumping descents, casually cruise the corduroy or session the Woodward Mountain Parks, there is something for skiers and riders of all abilities. Twelve chairlifts, including eight high-speed quads and three surface lifts, serve a varied mix of over 100 runs. Approximately 15 percent of the terrain is rated as easier, 35 percent more difficult, 30 percent most difficult and 20 percent extremely difficult.
Mt. Bachelor is a great area for experienced skiers and riders, but it is also a fantastic place to get into winter sports or take the family for an exciting day on the snow. The Sunrise base area is the ideal spot to get started, with beginner lifts that offer an easy ride up and a gentle slope down with an inclusive, family-friendly atmosphere. Check out the complimentary Early Riser quad and Woodward Start Park for the perfect introduction to skiing and snowboarding. Add a lesson from our coaches in the Ski and Ride School, and you’ll maximize your fun and speed up progression.
The Mountain Gateway building in West Village is the spot for everything you need to start your day on the hill, including tickets, passes and rental equipment. Gravity Sports Pro Shop, one of the premier ski and snowboard shops in Central Oregon, has a large assortment of skis, snowboards, boots, apparel and accessories to keep your equipment up to date and ready for action. When you’re done at Mountain Gateway, take a quick stroll over to the West Village Lodge for excellent breakfast, lunch and après options, including the local’s favorite, Clearing Rock Bar.
If you’d like to try a mountain adventure of a different sort, Mt. Bachelor’s Nordic Center offers the longest groomed Nordic ski season in North America. Cross-country skiers can explore an expansive network of trails groomed daily, covering over 56 kilometers. In the Sunrise base area, hop on the sled with an Iditarod dog sled team with the Oregon Trail of Dreams. Stay snug and warm in the sled while the team and a professional musher take you on an exciting adventure through the Deschutes National Forest. The standard trip lasts about an hour, including orientation and an option to help take care of the dogs after the ride.
Conveniently located 22 miles west of Bend and surrounded by the Deschutes National Forest, Mt. Bachelor offers breathtaking views of the Three Sisters and other Cascade peaks and a host of recreational options for your family and friends.
