Speaker Bios Justin T. Barnes, Vice President of Industry Affairs and Government Affairs; Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc. As a healthcare software executive and public policy advisor, Justin Barnes is a Vice President with Greenway Medical Technologies and manages Greenway’s Industry Affairs and Government Affairs departments. In addition, Mr. Barnes is Chairman Emeritus of the HIMSS Electronic Health Record (EHR) Association as well as Co-Chairman of the Accountable Care Community of Practice where he assists both organizations with industry strategy and leadership.

Mark Braunstein, Professor of the Practice, Associate Director, Health Systems Institute teaches health informatics and is involved in fostering research and community outreach aimed at the wider and deeper adoption of health information technology to improve the quality and efficiency of care delivery. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of the Georgia Advanced Technology Ventures (GATV) -- a corporation that supports the Advanced Technology Development Center, a technology incubator operated by the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also a past Chairman of the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce, Southeast Region and of the Atlanta Chapter of the MIT Enterprise Forum.

Daniel E. Dawes, Morehouse School of Medicine Executive Director of Government Relations, Health Policy, and External Affairs is an expert in health care reform and, prior to his time at the Morehouse School of Medicine, Dawes founded and chaired the National Working Group on Health Disparities and Health Reform, advocating for health reform legislation. In addition, he served on the newly established Health Equity Leadership Commission providing guidance to Members of Congress, the Obama Administration and the officials at the Department of Health and Human Resources. Dawes holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska in the College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in business administration and psychology from Nova Southeastern University.

Denise W. Hines, eHealth Services Group, Chief Executive Officer, possesses over 23 years of extensive and varied experience in different healthcare organizations such as health systems, physician offices, home health, technology vendors, consulting, state government, and revenue management. She is nationally recognized for building service and results-oriented organizations with proven results and she possesses a passion for the widespread integration of technology and healthcare.Dr. Hines participated on Georgia’s HIE Strategic and Operational Plan writing team and served as the co-chair of the HIE Governance Committee. She successfully launched Georgia’s first comprehensive health information transparency and health information exchange Web site and served as the first Executive Director for the HITT Advisory Board and created Georgia’s two-, five-, & 10-year strategic plans for health information technology. She also created and implemented the Georgia Health Information Exchange Grants Awards Program that awarded $1,800,000 in grants in the first and second years. As the leader of eHealth Services Group, her vision is to build a company with the reputation for solid service delivery. eHealth Services Group is focused on identifying and analyzing emerging regulatory issues and designing and executing recommended strategies and actions for clients. eHealth Services Group is currently providing marketing, education and outreach services for the Georgia Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (GA-HITREC) among other clients.

Kimberly Bell, Executive Director of the Georgia Health Information Technology Extension Centers is a healthcare executive with over 15 years’ experience in hospital and physician practice operations and management. She has held positions with increasing responsibility in acute care hospitals, academic medical centers, and ambulatory care/group practice settings including Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, Grady Health System and Tenet Health System. Board certified in healthcare management, Kim is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). She is active in numerous professional societies including the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) for which she served as Regent’s Advisory Council member, Past President of the Georgia Association of Healthcare Executives (GAHE), and currently serves as Immediate Past President of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE).

Marie Cameron, Lecturer, Georgia State University, is senior healthcare executive with over 25 years’ experience in healthcare management in community and teaching hospitals. She is a Board Certified Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives with strong operational turnaround and program development experience. Cameron has held senior positions at: Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C., as VP of Professional Services, and VP of Administrative Services; Howard University Hospital as COO, as interim executive director/CEO and as executive director/CEO; Southwest Hospital and Medical Center as president/CEO and as a managing partner of the RMP Group LLC.

Liz Hansen, GA-HITEC, Consultant is an industry consultant, with over 25 years of experience in Information Technology within the ambulatory and acute Healthcare settings, specializing in Meaningful Use Requirements, Electronic Health Records, IAM and Healthcare marketing strategy. As a partner of the Georgia Health Information Technology Extension Center (GA-HITEC) she is currently focused on providing guidance to Providers in their efforts to achieve Meaningful Use Stage 1 and Stage 2, and serving as the GA-HITEC Strategic Management Consultant. In addition to her consulting engagements, Ms. Hansen has served on the boards of several educational and community organizations, and spoken at numerous physician and practice manager seminars on the topics of Meaningful Use, EHR Selection, medical practice marketing and Social Media.


Riba Kelsey-Harris, Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, is a graduate of Spelman College and earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Medicine where she also completed residency training in Family Medicine and served as chief resident. Following her dual passions of patient care and teaching, she taught for several years at the University of Maryland where she earned an obstetrics teaching award from Family Medicine residents. As Director of Education for the National Center for Primary Care at Morehouse School of Medicine, Dr. Kelsey-Harris will further develop and implement the NCPC’s on-site and distance learning Faculty Development programming; expand the use of technology to more effectively meet the educational needs of physicians practicing and teaching in underserved areas; and centralize and standardize the education and training initiatives of the NCPC.

Jimmy Lewis, CEO, Hometown Health has roots in rural South Georgia where he was born in Cordele, Georgia. Having graduated high school in Cordele, he attended Middle Georgia College and then Auburn University. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Auburn. Upon college graduation he entered business with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Albany Georgia. From that beginning, Jimmy has held senior management positions in six fortune five hundred companies including Firestone Tire and Rubber Company – passenger tires, Fairchild Burns – aircraft seats, Arthur Young and Co – consulting, R.J Reynolds – warehousing, Cross Equipment and Gold Kist – agribusiness, and HCA and HomeTown Health – health care. He came to health care as a result of soaring insurance costs for his manufacturing company. After forming a partially self-funded insurance program for his company, his health care involvement led him to a position on the board of directors of a hospital. He ultimately sold Cross Equipment Company to become market development officer for that hospital. That opened the door to becoming Vice President of Government Relations for Columbia/HCA’s 20 hospitals for the state of Georgia. Thereafter, he took his knowledge of the rural health care delivery system in Georgia, resigned Columbia HCA, and formed a consulting company, The Leadership Group. The Leadership Group sponsored development of the Georgia Rural Hospital Roundtable. The Roundtable had 22 rural hospitals as members. Its purpose was advocacy for rural hospitals in the state legislature in Georgia. Members were limited to hospitals that had fewer than 100 licensed beds.

Michele Person Madison is a partner in the Healthcare Practice, where she provides general legal advice to health systems in various regulatory and business matters. Ms. Madison also works with information technology companies and advises clients on compliance with regulations and industry standards. Ms. Madison has specific experience in negotiating contractual agreements between healthcare providers and service providers, interpreting and advising health systems on regulations applicable to the healthcare industry, and providing regulatory advice with a focus on Stark, Anti-Kickback and

Dennis White, President and Chief Executive Officer at Alliant Health Solutions, a $25 million nonprofit family of companies helping governmental agencies ensure that tax dollars are used appropriately in the administration of public sector health care programs. With more than 25 years of financial, health care and information technology experience, White has spent the last 20 years focusing on state and federal government contracting. He has extensive experience in operational and organizational development, as well as the implementation of large-scale technology projects. Currently White serves as Chairman of the Georgia Health Information Exchange (GHIE), a statewide collaborative serving to improve the quality and efficiency of the state’s health care by building local health data sharing communities.

Camillia Harris, CPC has 12+ years of combined Healthcare/IT experience. Ms. Harris has obtained great levels of expertise and in-depth knowledge in various roles such as training/facilitator, implementation analyst, testing analyst/auditor, research analysis, claims processing, etc. She is an enthusiastic professional who is trustworthy, ethical, well organized with an attitude of self-motivation, creativity and initiative to achieve goals. As a leader within the Healthcare/IT field, Ms. Harris has a proven track record in being solution focused with detailed analytical work while demonstrating great leadership.

Howard Mosby, Georgia House of Representative was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2002, Mosby began his political career in Georgia politics. State Representative Howard Mosby (D-Atlanta) represents the 90th District in the Georgia House of Representatives. Representative Mosby serves as a member of the powerful House Rules Committee, House Ways and Means Committee, House Governmental Affairs, the House Health & Human Services Committee. In addition, Representative Mosby is Chairman of the DeKalb House Delegation. Mosby is also a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, which gives him great insight into healthcare and financial issues of the state’s healthcare system. Mosby serves as a leader in the Georgia Society of CPA’s as a member of the Leadership Council.

George Rust, Co-Director, National Center for Primary Care has dedicated his career to being a family practice physician to improving healthcare access, quality, and outcomes for low-income and uninsured segments of the population. He is a board-certified in both Family Practice and Preventive Medicine. He has spent the past two decades teaching, doctoring, researching, and developing programs at the Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM). Currently, he is a Professor of Family Medicine with a joint faculty appointment in the Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine; and founding Director of the National Center for Primary Care and Faculty Development program. Additionally, he is the board chair of the Atlanta Community Access Coalition and co-chair of Georgia’s Minority Health Advisory Council, where he played a key role in development of the Georgia Health Disparities Report in 2008. For the past 13 years, he has been intricately involved in the development and planning of the Annual Primary Care and Prevention Conference.
