Angie: As a child I wanted to be a grown up...and I have regretted that decision eversince!HA!

Angie: For TV shows, Sherlock, Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife. I got a thing for British Shows! For books, about a year ago I got into Audible. I’ve been listening to a lot of fantasy and British crime books. It’s very therapeutic listening to books whiledoinghousechores.

Staff Potluck Staff Potluck Retreat Retreat Led by Barbara Hough, AVP Finance and Controller, The Controllers leadership team had a one-day retreat on May 8, 2024. Goals for the day included enhancing communication across the team and sharing the long-term vision for the Controllers area. Duke University Management Company (DUMAC) graciously shared their conference room with us, serving as the venue for the event. The day's itinerary was packed with a full schedule, including a financial update from VP of Finance and Treasurer, Rachel Satterfield and a presentation by Shannon Ashford, Director of Education and Alternative and Resolution Processes, from the Office of Institutional Equity’s championing Duke University’s institutional
The end of the day the team embarked on a culinary adventure at C’est si Bon Cooking School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Teams were formed and each team was challenged to prepare one of the courses for a gourmet dinner to be shared by all. Using specially selected ingredients, the teams worked together to produce an amazing and delectable four course meal. The day was enjoyed by all! shared values providing insightful advocacy for promoting and preserving an inclusive and equitable workplace.

RESOLVETOBE”.Thathasalwaysstuckwithmethatonecanaccomplishwhateveryouputyourmindto. Now,obviouslymyparentswere/aremyprimaryinspirationinalloflife.Theyhadaworkethicthatwas unparalleledbyjustaboutanybodyandIliketothink,itrubbedoffonme.
6.What'sthebestadviceyoucangivetosomeonewhojuststartedtheircareer?
Frank:IcantellallyoungpeoplejustgettingstartedhereatDuke,orinanyjob.Youmustfindajobthatyou enjoydoing.In39yearsheretherewasneveraSundaythatIwouldsay,“dang,gottagotoworktomorrow”. Youmaymakemoremoneydoingotherthingsandmoremoneyworkingforothercompanies,butyouwill neverhavethesecurityofagoodjobliketheoneyouwillhavehereatDuke.Ihavealwaysenjoyedmywork andjustlikethat,ithasbeen39years.Wow!

Throughouthiscareer,FrankproudlyservedourcountryasaUSMarine CorpsReservistinDesertShield,KuwaitandIraq,alwaysreturningto Duke.Heplanstospendhisretirementworkingonhishobbiesincluding hiking,swimming,cooking,canning,gardening,raisingcattle,cutting andsplittingwoodforheatandfishing Heisexcitedtospendmoretime withhissweetheartRhonda,playingwithgrandsonandteachinghim abouttheworld
