Did you know? Did you know?

A market lamb weighing 120 lbs will have an average yield of 48%

This means that the carcass weight of the same lamb will be about 58 lbs

The same carcass will produce about 58 lbs of meat to take home (as there is no hanging time for lamb)

Cost of a lamb at your local 4-H Sale $5/lb x 120lbs = $600

Cost of butcher, cut and wrap is $110

When you support your local 4-H member, you are also supporting a local butcher and know where your meat is coming from for an estimated 25% less than at a grocery story. You know that these young producers have been focused on building a high quality product through providing good care. There may also be a tax benefit for you.
