5. Arts Camp : Hoop-Tam Conservation Background Nowadays, both Mural Painting at Simûs wall at Wat Pho Tharam and Wat Pa-Rerai have deteriorated over time because of birdsû excretion, sunlight, dust, moisture, and lichens. Only specialists from Fine Arts Department can repair the problems. The communities cannot do it by themselves without their assistance. Before the deterioration got worse, the Hoop-Tam Conservation Arts Camp was held in order to increase realization and appreciation of the Mural Paintingsû value to children and youth, especially, those are in the communities. This would stimulated them to love and take care of Hoop-Tam in order to build a better understanding on the importance and value of their folk arts, and carry it on to the next generation.

The Procedure Summery Art camp : Hoop-Tam Conservation was divided into 2 art styles: 1. Drawing of a picture by sketching and using pens or pencil to make lines of structures on paper and then coloring can be applied afterwards. They normally apply only one color on the drawing. However, it is not necessary to paint in one color; more colors may also be applied. Therefore, drawing is a basic skill for all kinds of art; art learners must practice and be skillful in drawing before they learn any another technique to advance in steps. 2. Painting is a kind of drawing which uses a paintbrush or other brush like materials to dip into colors to fill pictures. To make paintings look beautiful and realistic, the artists needs to know how to use their painting skills, which is about controlling color and equipment rather than just using drawing the outline. Pictures from the paintings are divided as follows: 1. Figures can be divided into 2 types: 1.1 Human movements that donût emphasize the facial features. 1.2 Portraits of human pictures which show the realistic facial features of the person. 2. Animal figures show movements such as walking, running, sleeping and finding food etc. 3. An illustration is pictures which are made to tell stories or pass on some of the incidents to audience. It can be in books, bibles, mural paintings together with pictures in the advertisements. Mostly mural paintings are drawn as an episode. Painters may sketch a picture from real objects before apply colors; however, the drawings themselves may be a perfect piece of art work Therefore, drawing is useful for all fields of art: architecture, engineering and decorative arts. Producers When the lecturer gave the knowledge about the basic of drawing, camp participants then were assigned to draw lines. The participants had asked to freely choose pictures from the mural paintings and then sketch them on the paper. After that acrylics were used to draw lines, the most important thing was to control the shading and groups of colors which were divided into 4 groups: green, blue, light green and brown in order to remain the same unique way of the mural paintings. The last step was to color the cotton bags in order to create the art work on the bags. Finally, Hoop-Tam bags were made as creative products.
