One cornerstone of Castle Building & Remodeling is the promise to be upfront and educatate all homeowners. Whether or not you hire us, you’ll find we are striving to educate and inform homeowners about all aspects of home remodeling. We started by hosting monthly classes covering a variety of topics, including industry expert guest speakers. As our business grew and our times changed, we turned to making a few videos that we could send out to those who inquired. Soon we developed the Castle Educational Home Tour and slowly phased out the educational classes. Now with a desire to connect to more homeowners on an intimate level, we searched for new and fun ways to educate local residents. The Impressive Progressive’s purpose was to provide an intimate setting where potential clients can see Castle’s most impressive remodeling projects; a wonderful balance between our educational classes and our annual home tour. Our world took a turn and with the health and safety of homeowners in mind, we have decided to move this event to a virtual platform, thus creating our Virtual Educational Series. Attendees will still have the opportunity to learn about actual projects we have completed, ask their remodeling questions, and chat with our staff members. Head to our website to see when our next virtual sessions are happening!

Castle HOME TOUR
The Educational Remodeling Tour What is the Castle Educational Home Tour?
This Educational Home Tour started in 2013 and was designed to help people understand what a realistic remodel involves as well as, but not limited to, what is achievable within their budget to create a project that provides both an ROI (return on investment) and ROE (return on enjoyment). Our goal is to show more typical remodeling projects that the average family is more likely to complete.
signs in purple yard ur. e th r fo k o Lo n to ch home o front of ea
How is this home tour different from other home tours? Because of the costs to remodelers to participate in other tours (about $1,000 – $2,700 per home) they tend to only show their largest and fanciest projects. Our goal is to show more typical remodeling projects that the average family is more likely to complete. This event is different because it is all projects completed by Castle. It is a weekend to showcase our best work to the public and educate them on our services. This weekend is designed to help inspire and educate attendees on future remodeling projects. We firmly believe in being up front about all things, and this tour is a great way for us to showcase our honesty behind our work.
Guests are gree ted with small freebies, home tour guid e books, and pu nch cards for the gi veaway
A traditional home tour with digital additions! Home Tour Guide Books can be picked up in the month leading up to the tour from one of our four showrooms. You can also pick up a copy at one of the homese during the weekend of the Home Tour. We also have a website for The Castle Educational Home Tour: www.CastleHomeTour.com. Preview homes, get live directions via the Google Maps links and enter our drawing, all in one place!

THE DESIGN PROCESS As a design build remodeler, Castle Building & Remodeling focuses on finding the project design and budget that will work best for each homewoner. At Castle, we have several tools and a team full of designers to make your remodeling dreams a reality. From the initial budget documents to 3D drawing tools, to production involvement in project planning; our goal is a beautiful, well planned, financially feasible project that is finished on a pre-determined timeline. Unlike stand alone design services, our system integrates the pricing into the design process. Whether your style is traditional, modern, or transitional, our process and professional design team will find you the best value in residential remodeling. Remodeling projects are expensive and stressful and you’ll need to do your research to have a good experience. You’re off to a good start, you have made it to the website with the most information on residential remodeling. We know you are excited but before you get in touch with us, you’ve got some reading and research to do. We recommend you start by checking out our detailed process flowchart. Reading through this 14-step process will help you understand the steps and order that things happen on remodeling projects.
We suggest you look through our portfolio of past projects to get ideas, see the latest trends and classic looks, get inspired, and generally imagine what could be. At this point anything is possible so dream big and think outside the box.
We hate to wake you from your dream, but it’s time to get back to reality. That was fun dreaming, but what are all these great ideas for improving your life through professional remodeling really going to cost? You’re in luck. We have about 50 example line-item estimates for all of the most common remodeling projects on our Project Cost page. These examples will help you to get an idea of your project costs so you can decide if your idea is worth the investment or not. Maybe, you’d be better to move? Now you have dreams and a budget range and it’s time to figure out how to make this all happen. Most of our clients end up using some kind of financing to pay for their improvements. Some use a home equity line of credit to pay for their projects while others end up with a whole new mortgage that incorporates the costs of an addition and pays off their old mortgage. You can find out more about financing options for your remodeling project on our website. It’s good to make sure you are financially capable of tackling the project you dream of. Now it’s time to talk with our Sales Leader about your project(s). You can schedule a 30 minute phone consultation with our sales team and get all your questions answered. We will reach out to confirm your call. During the phone consult, we will discuss what you want to accomplish with your remodeling project, any special needs, and what type of investment you want to make in your home. As we discuss the project over the phone we will be taking notes to pass along to the sales person or designer that visits your home. During the first visit to your home we will discuss the project(s) with you, take photographs, and measurements and explain how Castle performs the design & planning process. We will leave a copy of this pretty brochure that contains information about Castle, our team of professionals, photos of projects, and our annual infographic.

THE SPECIAL PROJECT PROCESS Formerly known as handyman services or small projects, a special project is anything we can do with our in house tradesmen that doesn’t fit in to our normal design build process or large project team. The special projects team truly covers a wide gamut of projects. Below we touch base on the projects we are most often hired for, as well as projects that just aren’t a right fit. If it is not something we can handle, chances are we’ll have a suggestion on how you can approach it, or a referral for someone that does.
Best fit – When hiring Castle BRI for your special project needs, we truly shine in the following categories: Decks (including side entry decks), porches, windows, doors/storm doors, carpentry projects, drywall, demolition, framing, interior doors and trim, painting, and tile. We have some of the most skilled craftsmen anywhere in these disciplines on staff and they’re more than qualified to tackle these jobs for you. Finally, if your project requires little to no design work, then it most likely will be a great fit for our small projects team. Not a fit for our special projects team – Projects that involve kitchens, bathrooms, cabinetry, exterior repairs (including 2nd story), concrete / flooring only, insurance restoration work, emergencies, and design only projects are not things that our special projects team handles. We also do not handle things like plumbing, electrical, HVAC, flooring or exterior trim repairs. Our team would subcontract out those types of projects to our trade partners on a larger job. Finally, small handyman jobs would also not typically be covered by our team. Your first step is to fill out the form on our website. Please include as much information as you can concerning your project. We will review your request and determine whether or not it is a good fit for our Special Projects Team. Once determined a good fit, your request will be passed on to our Special Projects Team who will set up an initial phone consult with you.
To prepare for your site visit, our Special Projects Team will give you a call to to further discuss what you want to accomplish with your special project needs, your budget, and if there are any additional constraints to be considered. As we discuss the project over the phone we will be taking notes to prepare for our initial site visit. During the scheduled home visit we will discuss the project(s) with you, take photographs as needed, and measurements. Once the site visit is complete, our Special Projects Team will work on a proposal for your review. Proposals & bids can take up to two full business weeks before they are sent out for review. Once the proposal has been accepted and a contract has been signed, our Special Projects Team will assign a Project Manager. Your PM will coordinate schedules and get the project lined up for production. Project start dates are typically 3 - 12 weeks out (depending on material lead times) from when the proposal and signed contracts have been received. Follow us:

Additions
Adding on to your home or adding a 2nd floor is a great way to drastically increase the square footage in older homes. These projects take significant planning and often involve updating many mechanical systems. Creating an addition that works structurally, blends in seamlessly from the exterior and ties in and fits with the interior space proportionally and stylistically can be a challenge. SMALL ADDITION While no addition is a small project, there are smaller additions that can be created. Many homeowners are looking to stay within their existing home but add that one space that is missing. By adding a mudroom, office space, or even extending out your family room, you can drastically change the flow and overall look of the home. These additions are often created on a crawlspace foundation. LARGE ADDITION Larger additions are created to drastically increase the square footage of your home. A full shell 2nd floor addition creates enough space for three rooms and a bathroom. From there the additions planning becomes more complex as the additions become larger. Our highly experienced team is well equipped to create the perfect addition for your home.

Whether rebuilding an existing front porch from the roof down or adding a covered back patio, outdoor living spaces can be a great addition to your home.
If you love outdoor living but hate the bugs, then an enclosed screen porch might be the right porch design for you.
If you love outdoor living so much you want to get a few more months of use in the spring and fall, then a 3 season porch will be the right porch for you.
• Traditional front porches have tongue and groove for decking • Square or round, load bearing or decorative posts are key to porch design and function • Custom railing options available. Code requires a railing if deck is 30”+ above grade • Skirting or lattice with access panels available to nish under the porch • Beadboard or aluminum ceiling options • Painting from 1 to 4 colors can really add a pop of color to your castle
• A screen porch is built like a deck or addition either on a slab with footings or on pier footings with a framed wood oor system • Designing and tying in a roof for a screen porch can be tricky if windows are in the way • It’s best to plan a water resilient interior such as decking, tile, or indoor/outdoor carpet • Don’t forget to screen under the deck • ScreenEZ Panels are available in 8’ and 12’ lengths and allow for a professional install look
Sometimes it’s better to look away. By detaching an outdoor living space, you can maximize the use of your yard, preserve an existing patio or deck, get out into your garden and optimize the view.

“A huge thank you to you and your employees for the wonderful remodel project that we recently completed. Having heard the harrowing stories of other people that have done remodels, we have been so pleased to be able to tell friends how smoothly our project with Castle went. Castle helped us design the project (and were patient with us as we got things finalized), you told us what it would cost, and you told us how long it would take. On the last two counts friends have been taken aback that the project was completed on time and on budget. What a great experience for us on our first ever remodel project. From the start to
the end of the whole project, it has been the Castle people that have really stood out for us. Thank you to everyone for making this such
a positive experience. When anyone asks us, we unreservedly recommend Castle. We look forward to working with Castle on our next project (we are already thinking what that might be).”
