In September 2018, the Welsh painter, VERNON W. JONES, toured the iconic, scenic road route around the north coast of Scotland, as he says: “I travelled with a great pal of mine who lives a stone throw away from me in Skopje, Macedonia, our plan was a simple one…get around the North Coast 500 to find reference and inspiration along the way. How could you not! Ok, there were a few midges around, and really only a few due to high winds and storm Hector which we weathered in our 4-man tent, the poor little things could not bite us! I am very sorry about this as you can imagine! My friend has a funny writing style that is brilliant, and we will produce a book about the NC500, and keep it as we found it with the clouds, the sun, the lot, as will be in my show.” GRAHAM MUIR, the renowned glass artist from the Scottish Borders, has created a group of new glass sculptures inspired by the awesome power, light and colour of wave-forms to accompany the paintings, creating a wonderful exhibition that evokes the unique qualities of the Scottish coastal scenery. The exhibition can be viewed on the Castle Gallery’s website: W: www.castlegallery.co.uk T: 01463 729512 E: info@castlegallery.co.uk
