Ian McWhinnie ‘On With The Show’ Ian McWhinnie (b.1952) graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1974. He is a painter and ceramicist working on a range of themes including performers, the circus, musicians and travels in France and Italy. His paintings are oil on gesso board and his ceramics vessels are formed from a white earthenware clay which has been hand-painted with under-glaze colours and various oxides and then finished with a transparent glaze. The distinctive and slightly unnerving style of his paintings and ceramics has met with great critical acclaim since his very first solo exhibition at the Castle Gallery in 2005. The gallery is therefore very pleased to present his next exhibition which has been eagerly awaited by many of those who collect his work, including the staff at the Castle Gallery.
