The Shortcat 2020 is out!
This year the selection represents both film schools and independent productions. It also includes young and established directors; and young and established producers. Short films are a forgery for new talents but also a place were established directors can experiment. It is also a place were authors reflect on the issues that concern them: sex, gender, social machismo, immigration, faith, the refugee’s crisis, teenage awakening, the use of the mobile phone and social networks,…
The films, each in its own way, question who we are as human beings and where is our dignity while lost in a lonely society. But despite discussing deep questions, there is still an optimistic approach to the world in which we live. All of this without forgetting a modern formal approach and an aproximation to new narratives. This new authors play with the form and give an air of freshness to each of the films. Their visuals tend to an avantguard cinema that is becoming the New Catalan Wave.
