Madame de Dumeval, the Duc de Tesis and the Duc de Wand, libertines expelled from the puritanical court of Louis XVI, seek the support of the legendary Duc de Walchen, German seducer and freethinker, lonely in a country where hypocrisy and false virtue reign. Their mission is to export libertinage, a philosophy of enlightenment founded on the rejection of moral boundaries and authorities, but moreover to find a safe place to pursue their errant games, where the quest for pleasure no longer obeys laws other than those dictated by unfulfilled desires. SHORT FILM CORNER - SHORTCAT
AMA
by Júlia de Paz Produced by ESCAC Films Drama / 18’
AMA depicts a story many women face, as they are exposed, alone, to the so-often mythicised status of being a mother. Pepa and her daughter Leila are thrown out of their home and left to find a place to sleep before night falls on a happy day of Carnival. In Between Tracks
by Delfina Spratt and Àlex Puig Produced by Master Documental Creatiu UAB Documentary / 24’
Train drivers have to bear a weight heavier than the train itself: the responsibility of slamming on the brakes, despite knowing full well there is no way to stop, when a person steps onto the tracks. Without getting off the train, the drivers will give us their insight on the consequences of having to pull the brakes in an emergency. Misericórdia
by Xavier Marrades Produced by Xavier Marrades Documentary / 21’
Misericórdia is a portrait of a community through the dreams of its inhabitants. I spent three months on the island of Itaparica in the state of Bahia, Brazil, gathering the dreams of people while filming scenes of their everyday lives. Soon that mixture of dreams and documentary triggered what could be called a third reality that belongs to the realm of magic: Misericórdia is a dream of dreams, evocative of the enchantment and ancestry of Bahia, the African heart of Brazil. Festivals __New Directors/New Films Festival (USA)

SHORT FILM CORNER - SHORTCAT
Rarotonga
by Àlex Brendemühl Produced by Voodoo Productions Fiction / 12’
A woman and two men undertake an absurd escape to a remote island, towards utopia: Rarotonga be its name. The promise of a better life. Rarotonga is the third short film in the Trilogy of Mistake. A project that started with Rumbo a peor (Worstward Ho), continued with Rifirrafe (Scuffle) and was interrupted due to a series of fatalities, basically the incomprehensible death of the actor Alfonso Bayard. The idea of a society that expels sensitive people, of certain nearly invisible axes that oppress those who don’t want to submit to the rules, is what lies behind this story, as baffling as it is uncomplete in its narrative form. It is with humour and tenderness that we have tried to relate this little odyssey. Festivals __D’A Film Festival Barcelona (Spain)
