Girls’ Cross-Country Head coach: Mr. Mark Doctor Previous coaching experience: Doctor has served as head coach for nine years and before that, was an assistant coach for three. Assistant coaches: Ms. Shelbi Burnett, Dr. Mike Flood and Mr. Brian Gross. Last season’s highlights: The team placed first in the Sectional meet, City meet, All-Catholic Invitational and finished fourth at the State championship. Key returnees: Returning runners include seniors Olivia Benz, Emily Getz, Anna Graves and Marissa Vander Missen; juniors Sofia Alatorre and Erin Arney. Season outlook: “While we have lost a lot of talent from last year’s team, we do bring back several runners with State meet experience and we have several very promising freshmen. Our summer conditioning has gone very well, and the team looks to be at least as strong as last year. While we currently lack a clear front runner like we had last year, it is possible that someone will grow into that role. We will probably have a stronger pack than we have had in the past.

We are currently ranked 30th in the Indiana Runner Preseason poll and are favored to win both City and Sectional championships. We also have a good chance of repeating as Indiana All-Catholic Champions. We hope to add a few wins to those meets, and should move up considerably in the polls. We hope to return to the State championships for the third straight year, and improve on last year’s fourth-place finish.” – Doctor Next meet: The team will travel to LaVern Gibson for the State preview.

The team only scored 20 goals last season, the fewest goals ever scored by a Cathedral varsity team, but they also only allowed 13 goals, which is one of the fewest.
