Tonight’s Band The Brooks Tegler Big Band was founded in 1985. Focused on the music of great musicians in America from the late 1920s to the mid 1950s, this band of full-time professional musicians is known for precise, driving swing and lush ballads. All their charts are true to the material of the era in focus, played with the same depth, feeling, and energy as it was decades ago.

Guest Performers Tina Young, harp Jocelyn Mullins, soprano and Joy Schreier, piano

The first rehearsal of the Cathedral Choral Society occurred on December 1, 1941. War for the United States was on the horizon. The population of Washington, DC was expanding rapidly and founding Music Director Paul Callaway saw the chorus as a way to welcome the community to the Cathedral to sing. The original recruitment poster, seen here, was distributed to government offices across the city.
