FAITH & SPIRITUALITY
OUR CJ FAMILY
Spirituality is important to the Catholic ethos and values of our college. We respect the religious position of each and every CJCian, and see prayer and reflection, within all faiths, as a way to grow as individuals and as a community.
Becoming part of the CJ family means finding your place amongst generations of CJCians who came before you, and joining them in a legacy of service, rich tradition, and personal excellence.
We begin every morning with a reflection and a prayer - reminders to be the best people we can be. Our Religion programme fosters both mind and spirit to help you discover your mission in the service of others. CJC also sees the importance of morality in character formation. Within both the Ethics and the Religion Programmes, there is an exploration of the different dimensions of morality including the varied religious standpoints. In this manner, you will deepen your understanding of moral guidelines within your own Faith or moral standpoint, as well as a wider understanding of other perspectives. Throughout all programmes, there is a reflection of the individual's giftedness moving towards an exploration and clarity of one's purpose.
Our four Houses, each with their distinct shields, are named after the religious brothers and priests who established CJC, served on its management committee or as principals - Michael, Albert, Patrick and Joseph.
Our Parents Support Group, made up of Snack Mums and Milo Dads, have lovingly nurtured generations of CJCians and is an indispensable cornerstone of the CJ experience.
Our affiliated schools:
Retreats Our JC1 and JC2 retreats are powerful experiences for students, alumni and teachers alike. Open to all students, regardless of faith and religious background, these retreats are hallmarks of the CJ experience, and help set a culture of sharing, prayer and reflection that is central to our college ethos.
