Cattail’s Website Gets a Makeover Dear Members, The Marketing Department is proud to announce that the new Cattail Creek website will launch this month! Look out for an email from the Club notifying the Members that the new site has gone live. The new design is much more aesthetically pleasing, and the updated layout will help our Members and their guests easily navigate the site. I’m sure you are wondering – “What’s new?” Here is what you will see that is different from the old website:
• New design
• Streamlined navigation
• Updated pictures
• Easier to read, clearer pages
Scared of change?! Don’t worry – the following important items all remain unchanged:
• Your username and password to log in
• Your automatic payment information, if you have that set up
• Your reservations made for future tee times, events, dinner, etc. All have been saved and moved over to the new site.
• Your Member profile information
• Your opt-in email preferences
While the entire Management Team, along with our website design company, has done their best to ensure nothing goes wrong during the transition to the new site, we understand that we may miss things. Please contact Gianna Rico, Communications Director, if there is anything that looks incorrect on the new site, as we want to be sure to rectify things as soon as possible. She can be reached via email at gianna.r@cattailcreekcc.com or by phone at 410.489.4653 ext. 241.

On the other side, wetting agents also allow
water to move down into the soil. Although bentgrass is a superior surface to play golf on, it has an inherent problem of producing thatch. Thatch is basically dead stems and root material that accumulate just underneath the leaves of the plant. Without proper aeration and use of wetting agents, water would continually saturate this layer.
Saturated soil conditions yield higher soil
temperatures and disable gas exchange which ultimately lead to thin, mushy and dead turf. Our cultural practices alleviate this problem and we work hard to maintain our bentgrass surfaces in a healthy manner. In addition to our cultural practices and use of wetting agents, we also use fans to keep the turf on our pocketed greens happy. Air movement across the surface of the greens on 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 11, 12 and 13 is highly limited by the terrain as well as trees. The use of fans helps decrease the surface temperature as well as the soil temperature

Golf Shop Staff Selections ANNIE SHEARER [GOLF SHOP MERCHANDISER]
ANNIE (BUYER/MERCHANDISER) Zero Restriction Shae Zip Mock in Safari “This Zero Restriction piece is the most comfortable and flattering layering piece I own. I would wear it every day if I could!! The light, airy fabric has a looser fit, but the cut is still very flattering. The color I bought is a safari green space dye, and these days safari green is basically considered a neutral, it goes with everythingyou can wear with black, brown, navy, khaki, or white. I would recommend this to all of our lady Members. You really can’t go wrong with this piece. I hope you love it as much as I do!” Retail Price: $120 | Member Price: $67
RICKY (DIRECTOR OF INSTRUCTION) Adidas Climachill Shirt “I trust the Climachill shirts to keep me comfortable and cool while I am out in the sun all day. I have this style of shirt in various colors, and I am always adding to my wardrobe as the new colors come out. The Climachill collection has something for everyone: they have shades ranging from neutrals to the latest fashion colors. And after washing, the best part is that you don’t have to iron it! I encourage all golfers to play a round in this shirt- you won’t regret it!” Retail Price: $65 | Member Price: $42

JONATHAN (SUMMER GOLF INTERN) Under Armour Tempo Hybrid Golf Shoes “I am a huge Under Armour enthusiast to begin with. I believe they have some of the best golf clothing in the industry. When these shoes arrived, I promptly bought them in white with bright yellow accents. They were extremely comfortable, even after a full round of golf. My feet felt so good, I could have played another 18! If you like spikeless golf shoes, I definitely recommend the UA Hybrids as your next pair.” Retail Price: $159 | Member Price: $114

“I am a firm believer that Oakley Sunglasses should be in every golfer’s wardrobe. My go-to Oakley style is the Flak 2.0 with Prism Lenses. They are a standard lens size that are not bulky or heavy… you almost forget you are wearing them. The Prism lenses are a “must-have” - they enhance your vision and makes the colors of the course brighter to really amp up your golf experience” Retail Price: $170 | Member Price: $110
Ricky’s Tip: DON’T TRY TO PLAY A DEAD STRAIGHT SHOT! Junior Golf Invitational Sunday, July 30
You will rarely see a touring professional try to hit a straight ball. Why? The straight shot is so difficult, as to be almost a fluke.
To achieve that fluke here’s what you need to do at impact:
LEWIS SCHNAUBLE [FIRST ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL]
• The club head must move directly along your target line.
The Professional Staff is excited to announce a new event
• The club face must be perfectly square to your target.
for 2017! Cattail Creek Country Club will be hosting its first Junior Golf Invitational. The event is open to junior golf, social & dining Members and their guest(s). We are also expecting participation from The First Tee of Howard County. The goal of the event is to create a fun environment for future golfers, no matter their skill level. Tentative information about the event is listed below, more with details to come. Format & Info: -Ages 14 & under -9-Hole Scramble (3-5 juniors per group)
• You must strike the ball absolutely dead center on the sweet spot. .... and all that with a club head speed traveling around 90 M.P.H ! Because of the impossibility of always repeating those ideals, the majority of touring professionals favor either a draw or a fade. The best are capable of either shape at any time. That should be your approach, too.
-Par 3 - Beat the Pro -Longest Drive Contest -Closest to the Hole Contest -After the event, join us for a fun afternoon of food, games, & activities. We are truly looking forward to a great event and hoping for a great turn out! For any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the Golf Professional Staff. We willl be more than happy to assist you.

BE THE KING BOBBY COZZILLIO [HEAD TENNIS PROFESSIONAL]
If you follow professional tennis, you know that the “King of Clay,” Rafa Nadal, has won his tenth French Open title this past weekend. For us mortals, we may never win ten French Opens (probably), but there are techniques and strategies we can copy from the King that we can use in our own matches.
