A few words about Mulberry from Bryan (okay, several words)…
It’s Gonna Be Mayhem!! When I first told my idea two years ago to Kyle Gilchrist about having a theme sale surrounding a particular sire he said two things: “Lemme guess…Mulberry right??” and he stated “I think that could work!” Last year, I ran the suggestion by Stuart Gilbert and he too showed amazing excitement for the concept…so, the planning and preparation began for the one of a kind, never been done before, sale centered on a single bull. There have been a lot of highly promoted bulls over the course of time in this breed. Quite possibly to the same extent as we have handled Mulberry, but not a single one of them have had a special sale devoted entirely to his progeny. By the way, how do you like the new picture of Mulberry on the back cover? This was taken September of 2011 at nearly 8 years of age!! I showed it to a couple friends of mine in the cow business and they were blown away with how good he looks…one told me it would take a helluva a 2-year-old bull to look that good let alone an 8-year-old breeding bull. The old warrior was pulled the day before from his group of 38 spring calving May/June cows.
Mulberry has had many, many achievements and awards presented to him over the years: back to back Grand Champion bull titles in back to back years at Canada’s two biggest shows – Farm Fair and Agribition (2005/2006). The photo of Mulberry and me under the lights on the cover shows one very happy and proud owner that just won the Supreme Champion Bull overall breeds at Edmonton’s Farm Fair Show in’06. Not many bulls can claim to have just won a brand new pickup truck but Mulberry can! To this day Nick and Lorraine still drive the bright red Dodge ½ ton that says Supreme Champion Bull down both sides. At the World Angus Forum show at Spruce Meadows, just South of Calgary, hosted by Canada in 2009, Mulberry was also honored through “his kids.” At the conclusion of that show, after all the placings of his progeny were tallied up, he was awarded the Premier Sire in the World banner. Only SAV Net Worth 4200 had more points on the black side of the show then the Mulberry progeny. That’s pretty good company to keep I’d say. Another big moment was when a son was named Reserve Grand Champion National Bull in Louisville in 2009. Huckleberry, another son, was slapped National Reserve Grand Champion bull in Fort Worth in 2008 and a daughter at that same show was National Reserve Grand Champion Female…these two both sell today as lots 51 and 37. In Denver 2009 a daughter named Mercedes was Reserve Grand Champion Female as a calf. Even on foreign soil his calves do well – both Sydney Royal Grand Champions this past April were both Mulberry’s for GK Livestock in Australia. Also, three years in a row at the World renowned Canadian Red Roundup Sale a heifer calf by Mulberry has topped that division in 2008, 2009, 2010. No easy task as there is always between 40-45 of Canada’s best heifer calves in that line up. A daughter topped the unreal sale in Denver last January at $23,000 and a son topped the famous Midland Bull test and sale at $25,000 in 2011. To date 85 Mulberry sons have sold through the Brylor Bull Sale alone since 2007 to average $7920. The daughters on Mulberry though are the deal that he’ll be cherished for. Three sons this spring from 2-year-old daughters of his averaged $25,000!! That’s wild, I’d say! Mulberry progeny have it all, from the muscle, the eye appeal, the numbers, the hair, and the gorgeous udders on his females. When I stated in an ad a few years back that he was the most talked about bull in the world I don’t think too many people can dispute that anymore. Ask pretty near anyone in another breed if they know who Mulberry is, and they’ll tell you they do! He is truly the King of the World!
I never dreamt it would be this difficult to come up with 50 lots for the Mulberry Mayhem Sale…but it was! Hardly anyone want to sell the calves by him and fewer yet will part with a mature daughter once they see the udders they posses. So thanks to everyone involved in this tremendous sale offering. I know the old boy would have a tear in his big Red Angus eyes if he could be present in Emporia to see more of his kids…he’d be proud for them!
One last point…In 2009 in my Brylor Semen Sales Directory I stated most Americans know three things about Canada 1) The Calgary Stampede 2) Wayne Gretzky and 3) Mulberry. Well move over #99 Mr. Gretzky, I do believe firmly that there’s a new being that could be called the “Great One” and he’s got his own sale named after him in Emporia, Kansas on October 26, 2011. Come and witness the Mayhem these Mulberry progeny have created!
Sincerely, Bryan & Sherry Mackenzie, Brylor Ranch

Welcome to Mulberry Mayhem…
It is truly an honor and a pleasure to be involved in this event. I think it was a year ago in August when Bryan approached me with the concept of basing a sale on the great Mulberry 26P and his progeny. Without even thinking about I said “Let’s do it!”It took a few months for all of the details to get hashed out and get the ball rolling, but the “noise” about this event was already spreading like wild fire. It is a “first” for the Red Angus breed to be sure and at least in my memory a first for the purebred industry. This event has caused a stir all over the North American continent and beyond with catalog requests coming from not only the United States and Canada but also several foreign countries. To say that interest has been good in this sale would be a gross understatement. From the very inception of the idea it has peaked breeders interest and curiosity around the country, including the attention of cattlemen from other breeds. Even before this event was officially “off the ground” we began getting catalog requests for this spectacular event.
With all of that said, it still amazes me just how hard it is to find direct Mulberry daughters that the breeders are willing to part with. That one statement alone speaks volumes for the daughters that Mulberry produces. After sending out over 250 invitations to participate in this event and abusing some long time friendships, I believe that we have assembled some absolutely phenomenal genetics for you to consider in this offering. Where else in the world will you find: the right to make an exact genetic replica of Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P, not one but two past Reserve National Champions, Denver class winners, hand picked, weaned ET show heifers, national quality herd sires, rare semen lots, donor cows, females bred to Mulberry, embryos from some of the most sought after genetics in the world and tremendous replacement females with picture perfect udders, and did I mention the LAST semen to ever sell of Mulberry 26P. All for sale at auction in one place on one day! No matter what your needs are to forward your breeding program, you will find it here.
As I write this the fall 2011 sale season is just getting underway. Already the Mulberry genetics have asserted themselves to be the buyers choice for the season. In an eight day period, in two separate sales in two separate states, three weaned heifer calves carrying the genetics of Mulberry have set the tone for the rest of the sale season by garnering an average of $10,000+ in their respective sales. This should really come as no surprise as the Mulberry progeny have dominated the show ring, sale ring and breeders herds as they have come into production for the last several years. I would strongly suggest that this may be “prime time” to get your Mulberry progeny gathered if you are going to. I have a sneaking suspicion that after the conclusion of this event the value of Mulberry sired calves will sky rocket as the limited supply of semen dwindles. Make your buying decisions for the season wisely and confidently in this event, the choices you make will impact your herd for years to come.
It has been my absolute pleasure to work closely with Bryan while assembling this offering. While his knowledge of computers may be very limited, his knowledge of cattle is tremendous. Thankfully, his wife Sherry (yes, he really is married) is much more technologically advanced and has proven to be invaluable during our countless emails and phone calls. Thanks Sherry! We invite you to come to this event and enjoy our hospitality, great conversation, phenomenal genetic opportunities and most of all the event that we call “MAYHEM!” Sincerely,
Stuart & Kaye Gilrt Red Cow Relocators

Lot 1 – The opportunity to purchase the right to make the exact genetic replica of
RED FINE LINE MULBERRY 26P!
Where else on the North American continent or for that matter the world has this opportunity been presented in the Red Angus breed? Only in Emporia, Kansas will you have the chance to buy the opportunity to make an exact genetic replica of arguably one of the most dominating Red Angus bulls in the business. Regardless of whether your focus is on the show ring, sale ring or in the pasture, the Mulberry progeny has excelled like no other bull in use in the Red Angus breed. His daughters are flawlessly uddered when in production, his son’s have proven themselves as breeders in both the commercial and purebred herds around the world. Both, his sons and daughters have spent their share of time garnering top honors in the show ring and fetching top dollar in the sale ring. This is an outstanding opportunity to make an in-vestment that will not only impact your herd, but also impact the Red Angus breed as a whole. — RCR
An opportunity unequaled in the Red Angus breed anywhere on the planet! On October 26th at the Mulberry Mayhem event, in the center of the United States, we are offering the right to replicate the Mighty Mulberry bull. By sale time we will have his cell lines in place preserved for all time at Transova. I don’t care for the term “clone” (it conjures up an image in my mind of a sheep named Dolly!) I prefer the term exact genetic replica. The buyer will receive all rights to all of the cell lines preserved on Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P through an ear notch taken from him. All the resulting duplicates produced of the bull from that DNA sample will be the property of the new buyer solely! Brylor and Fine Line will guarantee that no other cell lines will ever be sold on “the Great One” called Mulberry ever again. Also a further guarantee we make will be that once the dust has settled, after the live lots and embryos have sold today, we will offer the last of the Mulberry 26P semen in the United States of America as the last lot of the day. Two suggestions I have for naming your replica of Mulberry might be “Pure Berry” or “Mulberry Too”. — Bryan

We are selling 1/2 interest on this great 22L daughter. Her full sister JKC FAF Mercedes 103W was Reserve Champion at the NWSS in 2010 and Reserve Senior Champion at NWSS in 2011. Her other full sister, JKC Cherok 106Y topped our first ever female auction The Red Event for $10,000 Labor Day weekend to 5-L livestock, Walton, KS. The pick of her flush mate siblings sold in Denver at the Mile High sale 2011 to Wildcat Creek for $10,000. Her oldest sister, 19U sold for $7,500 as a calf at Tradition With A Vision in 2008. The Same day that we purchased her dam, 22L for $10,000 with Fair Acres Stock Farm, MN. 19U was Sen-ior calf Champion at Farmfair and Agribition and Senior Yearling Champion at the World Angus Forum 2009. What is even more impressive, her first bull calf topped the 40th annual Brylor Bull sale at $47,500. We purchased him with 5-L Livestock Walton, KS. 122X is continuing the legacy her mother and sisters have established. She has the look, power and performance to be the next donor in our program and yours. She is entered to show at N.A.I.L.E and NWSS and may be the next Champion too.
Those of you that know Bryan will know that he gets excited about Red Angus cattle. While attending the “Red Event” over this past labor day weekend, just minutes before the auction was to begin, Bryan tells me to “get in the truck, there is a heifer you have to see!” I’m sure the rest of the sale staff wondered where we were off to that close to the start of the sale, but I’m pretty sure Bryan could have flown us back in time if we could harness his excitement over this heifer. Long story short - we made it back to the Red Event, had a heck of a sale and after a lot of negotiating and abusing friendships got this heifer for this event. Simply put, she is good. The kind of female that you can base a whole herd on and impact a breed. All you have to do is own a piece of her to get there. — RCR

When we first heard of this sale I told Doc that we were going to offer something good enough to top it. Molly will be a strong contender. She is awesome from every angle. She is extra wide based and heavy muscled. She has an abundance of volume and is wide sprung. This moderate framed, big hipped, easy fleshing young cow has a tremendous future. With her prolific udder and her structural correctness, it assures you of her longevity. Her parentage assures you of her reliability. Damars integrity assures you of her profitability. Brylor purchased half of the Molly W056 heifer out of the Mile High Classic sale in Denver 2010. She was the pick of the pen of three heifers that Damar had there that year. These embryos combine all of the power, prettiness and pedigree attributes of the Molly cow and a very good Canadian bull. Red Teron Real Deal 01W was the bull calf Champion at the World Angus Forum show in July of 2009. He then won Grand Champion bull at the mighty Red Roundup Bull futurity, and he went on to be bull calf Champion at both Farm Fair and Agibition later that fall. The next year as a yearling he was named Grand Champion bull at both Farm Fair and Agribition. Busting Hearts is one of the fanciest Mulberry heifers at Damar Farms this year. This youngster is extra long spined and feminine fronted. She is wide based and high volume. We flushed her to Mulberry 26P and got 4 bulls and 2 heifers. 048 had and adjusted WW of 670 lbs, her full flush mate brother that we are using had an adjusted WW of 819 lbs and scanned a 15.24 REA. 048 is a black, red carrier. Don’t let that stop you from owning this stand out bred heifer. She is confirmed safe in calf to Norseman King for a mid April calf. Service date 7/9/11 and preg checked 9/1/11. GNRA MISS MULBERRY 109 is a nice late February heifer calf that has extra length, wide topped, lots of thickness and should be a nice junior show prospect. She is quiet and halter broke! 109’s dam is out of our high selling bull in Denver in 2004, GNRA TY 1133 who sold for $6,000 for 1/2 interest. She sells open. This is another of Bryan’s hand picks out of our herd. — Garth
Garth may have been a little modest in his description of this heifer. A heifer with this amount style and punch deserves to be touted as such. She comes from the heart of the herd and Garth was good enough to let us go into his herd and hand select this heifer out of his keeper pen. 109 could create a little Mayhem of her own in Emporia! — RCR

A show heifer in the making and well on the path to becoming a superior cow like her dam, FTZ MS MONICA. FTZ MONICA has seven times been crowned champion in her show career. Monica’s sire, MW MONTANA CK 413 semen sold for $1700 at the 2011 NAJRA auction. To put the frosting on the cake (so to speak), this heifer calf has the superior sire, Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P. It just doesn’t get better than this.

You hear the term “cow family” quite often used at many sales across the country, however, I would like to use this term in a slightly different fashion. For those of you who are not familiar with the name Aly James (yet!) allow me to introduce you. Aly is a third generation Red Angus breeder from Iowa. Her pedigree is enviable to say the least, she gets to call long time Red Angus breeder Joann James grandma. I have had the privilege of knowing the James family for the past 30+ years and have always admired their cattle and program. They are truly a “cow family” and you will find the JRA prefix in many of the most sought after genetics today. NOW, about this heifer! Aly has picked her right out of the top of her show string. If you are looking for a show heifer, donor prospect or a front pasture, bragging rights cow, be sure and look up MS NELLA on sale day. The possibilities are nearly limitless for this heifer. — RCR

Without a doubt , our most prominent cow family has been the Foxy’s. Definitely one of the most consistent in terms of solid performance with “never fail” genetics for the intangible traits such as consistency, quality and reliability. 168YU’s dam is by the Nation Champion sire, Tassel Executive, a son of Robin Hood and back to a Heavy Cream dam. On the Maternal side 168Y’s maternal grand dam is a top notch daughter of Marias, who has consistently been one of our best. One of the great projects the Canadians had on the go at the wildly successful World Angus Forum Show and Sale in 2009 was the foreign embryo exchange. Every country had the opportunity to send 10 embryos over and be put in recips on Canadian soil. These calves were born in 2008 and were on display at the Forum in July of 2009. Choice of all of the embryo heifers born were sold in the legendary Forum sale prior to the show. $9,250 was the math and lot 337U with Brazilian genetics was the female chosen. She’s ultra feminine made and displayed very ample muscling and length. She was very fertile and has a marbling EPD of +.42 (top 1% of the breed) and +.10 for REA. With the onslaught of genetic testing brought about by several countries breed registries came big time decision making by its breeders. The Canadian Assoc. decided to throw out its carrier cattle, thus the need to market the MAC cattle differently. Both 82X, a Denver class winner in 2011 and her full sister, 14Y are MAC. JK and Brylor will guarantee the new buyer a free testing calf from either one of them within their first two progeny or we will give you your money back if you choose to return the original female. The dam, 329N, is in the top 5% for REA and 2% for MARB. She had two daughters sell to Marcer’s and JD Lann at a $3,000 average and a son to George Clark at $4,200 before she slammed out a herd bull to 6 Mile at $5,600 in 2009 (Redwood 50U). Kurt, Paula and family are doing a spectacular job of building masterful breeding pieces through their Red Angus herd in Eastern Kansas. The full sib to lot 23 “wowed” the crowd at the Mile High Auction and rightfully so. I was fortunate enough to be in attendance at their very first female auction this past Labor Day week end. If you missed it, you missed an opportunity to see a great breeding program share some tremendous genetics with the world. Very consistent, but more importantly, consistently good. Here is a chance to get two pieces of their building block genetics in one package. — RCR

Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P – DOB 1/31/04
There have been a lot of great bulls in the Red Angus breed since I became involved in 1973 at nine years of age. My dad, Kenneth Gilchrist, purchased two Red Angus show heifers for me and my sister that year. The next year he purchased 16 head of Pioneer Beef Cattle (PBC) cows and began producing bulls for the PBC program for the next several years (in the early ‘80s PBC became Mid America Cattle Co). It was in my early learning career that I was exposed to, and gained interest in, Red Angus cattle. I was particularly interested in bull tests and watching these bulls perform and gain and studied the genetics behind what created their success or failure.
As I said, there have been a lot of great Red Angus bulls over the years but only a few come to mind that truly impact the breed. Bulls like – Choctaw Chief 373, Leachman King Rob 8621 and Buffalo Creek Cherokee Canyon 4912 — that stand the test of time and influence the direction of the breed. I believe that in the year 2007 to the present, that we are seeing one of these legendary bulls impacting the future of the Red Angus breed. In 2006 or 2007, my good friend Bryan Mackenzie began making some noise about a great bull that he had come across and purchased from the Fine Line program of Canada. My friend is a very good promoter and I took the “noise” with a grain of salt. Later the next year I started seeing Mulberry heifer calves not only outselling, but blowing away every other animal in every auction that I was a part of. Needless to say, Mulberry gained my immediate attention…but I wasn‟t completely sold yet. You have to understand that every dime I make comes directly from the cattle industry and 95+% of that income is directly from Red Angus cattle. I make no bones about the fact that “I believe in the hereafter and I’m hereafter commission”… these high selling Mulberry daughters were making me money as well as their owners.
I also breed Red Angus cattle under the membership of Star G Ranch, Inc. (RAAA #59440) and have produced registered Red Angus cattle since 1973. I said that Mulberry had gained my attention but I wasn‟t completely sold that he was a great breeding bull yet. My explanation for this is simple – I wanted to see daughters in production before I actually bred my cows to him. In 2008 I got the chance to see his daughters going into produc-tion for Walnut Springs Farm of Michigan through some elite Mulberry daughters that they had acquired directly from the Fine Line program. These heifers were springing and “bagging” with beautiful, well designed udders and looked like they would have an abundance of milk. I was sold! I went home from that auction, ordered 50 straws of Mulberry semen from the Wild Canadian, (changed my breeding plans) and five days later bred four donor cows to him to be flushed. In 2010, I was either sale manager or auctioneer for 43 Red Angus sales in the United States. I continued to see the Mulberry calves bring top dollar as show prospects with correct structure and fancy design. More importantly, I see the mature sons and daughters bring a significant premium because they are strong producers with plenty of meat and muscle and a superior offering of milk and maternal traits in their progeny. His popularity as a breeding sire isn‟t just hype; I believe the Mulberry progeny are breed changers!
The Mulberry Mayhem is a very special event for me because I get to work for two long time friends – Bryan Mackenzie and Stuart Gilbert. Bryan “The Wild Canadian” Mackenzie and I have worked together on many past auctions. The Mulberry Mayhem sale manager, Stuart Gilbert, may be new to many, but Stuart and I both hail from Van Buren County, Iowa, were classmates all through school, showed 4-H cattle against each other and have shared an appreciation for Red Angus cattle for many, many years. It is a pleasure and a privilege for me to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime event. My hat is off to Nick Van Galen, the Red Angus breeder who I feel has impacted the future of the Red Angus breed with his producing Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P!
— Kyle Gilchrist September, 2011
Who would have known that the straw of $50 semen put in on a late April day in 2003 would turn out to have such a positive impact for so many breeders across the world? When 26P was born on a very cold January day and from then on, he always had that special look. Now coming up to 8 years old he still is a knockout.
Lorraine and myself have had the very special privilege of seeing him grow from a baby calf to one of the really respected bulls in the industry. I recall the sale day when Bryan and Sherry became partners in this amazing bull. Under the eye and care of these two great purebred breeders, we had the once in a lifetime opportunity of watch him grow into the incredible show and breeding bull that he became. What was even more awesome was seeing Mulberry 26P make so many breeders profitable sons and daughters. He is truly a breeding legend.
We are humbled and thankful that we could be a part of such a great bull. Thank you Bryan and Sherry for letting 26P be all that he is. We are confident that Mulberry will continue to influence and impact those who use him and his offspring for many years to come. We look forward to being in Kansas in October 2011 to witness this event called “Mulberry Mayhem.”
We know and trust that both the sellers and buyers at this special sale will once again be benefactors of this bull’s tremendous ability to produce “ROI”.
Sincerely,
Nick & Lorraine

This heifer was purchased as a junior project for my son who ran out of time so we decided to turn her out in April to be a cow. She fit in very well and survived through the Iowa heat and humidity on grass only. Tillie is a very sound, correct, clean boned, clean jointed female that exhibits plenty of femininity coupled with outstanding rib shape and depth through her lower third from front to rear. Combine that with her muscle shape and an out cross pedigree that puts her in the top 10% for MLK and 17% TM, one really needs to look at the options of what they can do with this uniquely pedigreed young female. Confirmed bred to Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P for an April 23, 2012 calf. — Matt

Ok pedigree hounds, here may very well be the sleeper of the day. Study your lesson a little and look into the breeding behind this bred heifer. Grand Canyon, Bodacious 693and a double shot of Red Flying K Pat on the maternal side of the pedigree. It may be to your advantage that Matt’s son is a baseball star and never brought this heifer out in front of the public this summer. The Mulberry son or daughter that she is carrying will very likely pay for her in her first effort as a cow. — RCR

The Perks Red Robin cow was the poster child for Perks Ranch and they used her photo everywhere to promote their dispersal sale. When I went over to look through the Perks herd prior to their sale, there was one cow that seemed to be standing in front of me, every time I turned around. I couldn't seem to take my eyes off of her. She was easily the deepest sided cow I had ever seen!! Not only that, but she was moderate, thick, rugged boned and still pleasing to the eye. To add to her great phenotype, she maintains a 102.5 MPPA and has great growth numbers. Luckily enough, we were able to get her purchased to start the foundation for the Shuter Family Cattle Company Red Angus herd. She is the type of combination cow that puts it all together and exemplifies what we are trying to put together at SFCC. Here is your opportunity to get in on the action. With numbers comparable to Big Rock and the likes of HLH Buster 406 and California Traveler (Black Angus) in his pedigree, this calving ease Mulberry son has the makings of a great heifer bull. Throw in BJR Monu 4X and it’s no wonder that he has an adjusted 205 day weight of 734 lbs with a –2.5 birth weight EPD. There have been a large number of Mulberry 26P sons sell as herd bulls the past several years all great in their own regard, but I'm not sure that any of them are as balanced and complete as Glacier. Muscle expression, fleshing ability, depth of rib, good foot, nice head shape and front end. On paper his EPDs are the same well balanced and complete. We have some spring calves on the ground they all exhibit the tremendous depth of body. I cannot wait until some of our top end fall cows start calving any day. We will have a good report come sale day. We are shaping our cow herd around him. A lot of history surrounds this beauty contest winner! She came to Walnut Springs Farms in Michigan as a $10,500 pick of the ET heifer calves at Tradition With A Vision 2007. She went on to be a great show female culminating her career at the Louisville National Show in 2009 where she was named Reserve Senior Champion Female. 205T is a part of a five calf flush all by the amazing Mul-berry. 201T - $5,000 to J & J Reds, 203T - $6,000 to Box Elder Colony, 202T - $15,000 to Alta Genetics (Talisker) 204T - $20,000 to Remington Cattle Company and then later resold to Blairs Ag for $19,250. The dam 66K also raised the $92,000 Master Plan 17M Bull. Look at her service sire now. After Soolines record setting dispersal in 2010 the price of Cash semen went straight up. Should be a great mating on 205T. AI Bred to Red Corner Creek Cash 2R on April 10, 2011

I’ll have to be honest here. I quite possibly abused my friendship with Kurt in order to get this pair of heifer calves. Considering that they let me have two of the five E.T. Mulberry daughters out of their replacement pen. RRA Marias is maternally backed by Kurt’s 3128 donor cow that came from the RRA Marias 3128 105 • Lot 35 reputation James herd in Iowa and traces back to the famed James 449 bull as well as being sired by Glacier Marias 548. RRA Marias is a moderate framed heifer that carries her depth of body from the tip of her nose to the end of her tail. Add to this the carcass traits that Marias is so valued for and you will find a very complete heifer in a pleasing to the eye package. The Rich program is all about cattle that will go out and make their owners a living. Don’t be surprised to see this one end up in a donor pen in a couple of years. — RCR

This heifer comes to us from possibly my favorite cow at the Rich Red Angus farm, WCC Phyllis 47. In Phyllis 47’s first flush she produced nine bulls and two heifers. Three of those bulls were crowned Res Champion RRA Phyllis 47 108 • Lot 36 Pen of Three bulls in Denver, one of them being the Lamoni bull that has influenced several herds across the country not to mention the impact he has had on the Rich’s herd. Those nine bulls from the first flush averaged $4,100, one heifer was sold to the Tlach family in Iowa and Rich’s retained the other heifer who raised a $5,000 bull that sold to the Star G Ranch in their 2011 bull sale, a pretty good first flush if you ask me. It’s not easy to get a Phyllis ET daughter away from Kurt and rightfully so with the genetic profitability that this cow family has exhibited. Where should I start about this tremendous cow. She has had a stellar show career, culminating with her being crowned Res National Ch Female. Obviously she is phenotypically about as good as you can make one. Deep through the flank and across the ribs with excellent thickness and that sweet, pretty girl look. DAMAR OH For Real W193 • Dam of Lot 39 Embryos
After the fall of 2010, I’m pretty sure that everyone in the Red Angus world has heard of the new outfit from Newton, Kansas! Wild Cat Creek went on a rather ambitious buying spree and supported nearly every breeder in both countries if they had a cow for sale. On October 1st in Emerald, Wisconsin I had the privilege of being “their eyes” at the Damar “Best of Both Worlds” sale and strongly suggested that they not let this one go. The donor dam of this lot 39, Damar OH FOR REAL W193, an Olivia 706PX Mulberry bred female, is a class act thru and thru! Her dam, 706P, is the feature Lot 1 cow at Brylor’s Tradition With A Vision 40th anniversary sale in September so by sale time in Emporia, we’ll know who the new buyer of her (1/2 interest) will be and the arithmetic! A previous couple of full sib heifers have commanded $13,000 to JK out of the Mile High sale in Denver and one in Brylors 2008 sale at $56,000 to Walnut Springs Farms in Michigan. Five full brothers brought an average of $8,500 in Brylors 40th annual bull sale in March of 2011. The sire to these embryos is a sire that has gotten a lot of attention since being the high selling lot in the Soo Line dispersal. Ribeye 308U commanded $70,000 and another $20,000 for his semen bank. That sounds like a lot of jingle to spend on a bull but when you get to see him you might walk away thinking “is that all!” Go to Wild Cat Creek on your trip out to the Mayhem event (about an hour from the sale site) see the donor dam and the sire in Ribeye… but keep your eyes peeled as you travel highway 50. You have to keep a close eye out for a small little gate sign at the end of the driveway for Wild Cat Creek Ranch!!! — Bryan My first encounter with the Wild Cat Creek Ranch was in Stillwater, OK. There were a handful of heifer calves in the Red Alliance sale that they were interested in, but they could not attend the sale on sale day. After looking through the heifers the day before we made arrangements to have them on the phone when the heifers sold. I think that day I bought three or four heifers for them, little did I know that day but that was just the beginning of things to come. Since that day, they have literally windrowed a phenomenal group of cattle all across North America. Without a doubt putting together some of the most elite genetics available in the Red Angus breed. This sale lot of embryos is a perfect example of the cutting edge genetics that this program has to offer. This is a perfect chance to take advantage of the “Wild Cat” genetics without having to spend $100,000+ of your own money! — RCR

Take a good look at this one! An own daughter of the Ner Copper Queen 2657. She is a maternal sister to the Mojito bull that fetched $77,500 in the Mile High sale in Denver. Ask Bryan Mackenzie if he has ever had any success with the Mulberry x New Trend combination. The tried and true mating of Mulberry 26P on a New Trend 22D daughter has worked its magic on this cow for sure. She was absolutely spellbinding as a show heifer and is another of our graduates of the Denver class winners as well. She exhibits the class and style and grace that you would expect from such a cow. She is certainly an easy pick for the donor pen and her earning potential is absolutely limitless. Originating from the famed Broken Heart Ranch in South Dakota , 525 is a ranchers dream when it comes to genetic tools. She balances her traits a crossed the board and don’t miss her birth to weaning weight spread. Starting out at 73 lbs, she blossomed to 729 lbs at weaning. Pictured here in her working cloths, you can bet the ranch that she will be able to do a fine job raising her Mulberry calf into the top of the weaning pen. She traces back to Heaven or Bust, Rambo, Hoff Red Star and Straka’s Real Deal. Real Deal sold through the Black Hills Stock show for $10,000 in the early 90’s to Ralph and Helen Peterson of the Broken Heart Ranch. In 2002 six breeders in Canada formed a group called Fabulous Females. We put in a specified amount and we went out and bought the best cows we could find. 12R was one of the best calves we raised. In fact when our group dispersed in 2006, 12R was our high seller that day at $9,750 as a bred heifer. All four of her sons have sold to great commercial cattle operations for a $3,900 average. Her dam, Annie 1G, was a $10,500 cow in 2002 to the Fabulous Group and then later resold to Brylor for $14,000. She had a son called Fabulous Frontline 315N ($27,000). She also had a daughter at $15,500 in TWAV 2009. Her sire, Grand Prix, was the Denver Grand Champion Bull in 2003 and also National Grand Champion at Fort Worth. Willow is definitely a front pasture kind of cow. Phenotypically gorgeous, and has turned into one tremendous brood cow. This year was her first time out of the gate, and she did a beautiful job on her Big Sky calf. The Mulberry she is carrying is beyond exciting. Herd bull, show heifer, future donor, this cow really is that versatile. We wanted to put in a couple of great ones for this great event, and here she is. We would not part with her if we didn’t still own the factory and a sister. Definite donor cow material. — Charles A.I. bred to Mulberry on 7/9/2011.
Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P • Service Sire
Showoat runs a pretty unique operation down in the hills of Kansas. If you stop at his place you will not find a breeding age Red Angus bull on it. Every Red Angus cow is strictly A.I. bred to some of the nations top bulls. This insures that the females that are retained are very fertile and his genetics stay on the leading edge of the genetic revolution. Willow 926 is certainly a representative of that program. With her first calf already weaned and bred back to Mulberry , this cow is just starting her career as a valued matron for years to come. Her sire, Sakic certainly needs no introduction to the Red Angus community as a high profile sire. Maternally 926 hails from the Batterson program in Iowa, tracing back to Grand Canyon, Monu 2X and Bodacious. 922 was the lead off bull in the 2010 Finch / Rich bull sale, where I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase 1/2 interest in him. He was a Denver class winner in 2010 as well. Unfortunately his career as a breeding bull was too short lived and there was very limited semen collected on him before his career was cut short. His first daughter to ever sell at auction in the Kick Off Classic, garnered $11,000 to the Curry family in Texas. Kurt says that his calves that are sired by 922 have set the mark for the rest of the herd as a sire group. I can tell you that our calves by 922 are very nice as well. Due to the limited amount of semen collected on this exciting young bull, we will only be selling semen through the Mulberry Mayhem Event. Get it if you can. — Stu

We were very proud to purchase 1/2 interest in Walkerton through the Brylor bull sale for $11,000 in 2010. He has exceeded our expectations by leaps and bounds. We bred all of our first calf heifers to him as soon as we got him home and were very satisfied with the mid 70’s birth weight range on his calves. Oddly enough we got all heifer calves out of him which was a very pleasant surprise. That group of heifer calves out of our first calf heifers has absolutely blown me away. They are good enough from one end to the other that we will not be selling any of them, call me selfish but I’m sticking to my guns on this one. Due to an injury and the small amount of semen we have left on this phenomenal young sire, we have pulled him off of the open market and this will be the last semen sold anywhere. — Stu

To borrow a phrase from a friend of mine “there is a lot of cow here.” I’m not sure that you can make one any deeper without having to put wheels in the middle of her to reduce the ground drag. While she was at our E.T. facility she drew a lot of attention from some very prominent club calf operations that were also flushing cows. While we were propositioned several times to flush her to “Heat Wave” or “Monopoly” we decided it was best to flush her to Mulberry and try to propagate this great cows genetics in our own herd. 0117 is pictured here at 9-years-old, after weaning off a 734 lb. bull calf. She is a super easy keeping cow that could survive on saw dust and a little dew in the mornings, which I find pretty impressive for a cow with her mass and substance. She was the lead off heifer in our division winning pen of 3 heifers in Denver as a calf. With the unique combination of Bodacious and The Duke in her pedigree, I feel that the cross of Mulberry 26P could produce some very interesting progeny in days to come. — Stu

Here is a really cool deal. Rick has offered us four full sib flush mate heifers out of Mulberry and his good Gelbvieh donor cow. We will bring them into the sale ring two at a time and you get to pick which one you want to buy and he will keep the other heifer. At the end of the day you will have had a chance to buy two heifers and Rick will take the other two home and put them into his herd. If you are looking for powerful and proven balancer genetics that have the looks, performance and will make excellent productive cows do not miss these heifers! All of the calves from this flush were born unassisted and these heifers averaged just 77 lbs. at birth The dam of these heifers has been a proven producer at the Judd Ranch as well as for Rick as is evident from these outstanding heifers. Their dam is a deep bodied cow with a proud look and a beautiful udder. These heifers were all born in late January or early February. This is an absolutely phenomenal opportunity to purchase Balancer genetics sired by the bull that has the other breeds talking - Mulberry 26P. — RCR

Lot 51 – 1/3 interest and full possession sells on JKC Huckleberry 701 #1160559
This could be the hardest sale anyone has every had to sell to me, selling possession of Huck was not any decision by any stretch of the imagination. So here is your opportunity to gain 1/3 interest and full possession on one of the best Mulberry sons out there and in our mind the stoutest for sure. Huck was Reserve National Champion 2008 at the Fort Worth Stock Show as a calf and a barn favorite. We sold half interest to Brylor site unseen after his big win. Since then he has produced the top selling Female in the Mile High NWSS Sale in 2010, a two year old $9,000 Bull in Brylor’s 40th Annual bull sale, top selling heifer at our first female Auction “The Red Event” in September for $10,000. Kale Wachous bought the his first bull calf from the Mile High Sale 2011 JKC Hummer for $5,000 1/3 interest. The Huckleberry heifer calves averaged $4100 averaged in the “The Red Event”. His calves also dominated the NAJRAS 2010 Futurity, we won six out of eight classes, and five of them were Huck daughters. He has produced winners at all levels and what is even more impressive is the job his daughters and sons are doing in the pasture. It is not too often you get an opportunity like this to purchase a proven herd sire who looks better today then he did in the show ring. — Kurt
Maybe you can find a herd bull in today's day and age with as much vigor, power, finesse and prowess as the incredible Huckleberry bull. Maybe you can find one with as much track record in the show ring. And just maybe you might come across one that has bred just as well both sons and daughters as him. But...... is that bull for sale on the 26th of October in Emporia like Huckleberry is ? You, as the last survivor standing on the "island of the Mulberries" can have this magnificent creature walking in your pasture with the last nod of the head or wave of the hand and hearing those glorious words from the Auctioneer (that could change your whole herds future) S O L D !! — Bryan Can you imagine owning a 1/3 interest in a bull that is proven to be the sire of Champions, sale toppers and productive daughters? Now, imagine getting full possession of that very bull! Huckleberry is that very bull. And it gets even better, Huckleberry was chosen Reserve National Cham-pion bull in’08. Tremendous as an individual, proven producer of the “right kind” and known and respected throughout the breed for those very traits. Cowboys, it’s time to saddle up and take a deep seat here. — RCR

Selling 10 packages of TEN straws each. Buyer of each package has the option of doubling up and taking 20 straws. So these are the last 200 straws we’ll ever sell. He’s already off the market in Canada, South America and South Africa.
I remember the first time we offered semen in packages of 40 at the Mile High Classic in Denver. They averaged around $115 / straw that day. I remember Kyle asking “Who is this bull anyway? Is he any good?” I told him he’s all right and I’ve got some big plans for him down the road!! Well we’re down the road and he’s probably the most recognizable bull the Red Angus world has ever known. He’s truly the most talked about bull in the world. About the only thing that he hasn’t done is have Tim McGraw or George Straight write a song about him….but the day is still young!! Few Americans have actually seen the Premier Sire from the World Angus Forum Show and fewer yet have touched him. Get the last semen today with or without a partner — save it, flush with it or watch it grow in value like Gold!!! — Bryan Even the most high profile sales would likely have started their sales out with this lot. How fitting is it that the last lot in this event be the last Mulberry semen to ever be sold? Unless you have a couple of hundred straws of Mulberry semen already in your tank, don’t be bashful about bidding when this opportunity presents its self. The true history of this bull has only begun to be written, this is your last chance to be a part of it. — RCR
