IN IT TO WIN IT SALE Gilchrist Farms & Friends

October 6, 2012 1:00pm Lucknow, ON, Canada

GF AND FRIENDS IN IT TO WIN IT SALE

We are both very excited and fortunate to have the opportunity to host the inaugural GF and friends in it to win it sale. To me this sale is everything that we have been working towards over the last 12 years. As we began into the cow calf sector we wanted cows that could perform both in the show ring and back home in the pasture. I feel we have been successful in completing this task and now feel its time to offer some of our successful cow families to the general public. As you will see in most pedigrees in this sale there has been very extensive AI and ET work done to take advantage of some of the industries greatest genetics and to build our program around those genetics. There are genetics that have stood the test of time and proven themselves over and over, as well as some younger blood that will only gain momentum as the years go by. The sale name “in it to win it” was mentioned to me by a good friend of mine, as we were at a show and talking about all the time and effort that goes into getting cattle ready to compete. But this title to me doesn’t just apply to the show ring, it applies to everything in life, to me it means if you’re going to do a task to it to the best of your ability. If your going to be “in” something be in it to succeed! It is my belief that the cattle in this sale represent this motto to the fullest. Whether your looking to add a new asset to your breeding program, or your looking for that next great show prospect this sale has the cattle to fulfill your needs. The consignors and our selves have brought forth only the best of each individual herd and have put together a set of quality cattle that are as good as they come I would like to personally invite you to our inaugural sale, and wish that your investments prove to be as valuable for you as they have been for us. Sincerely Brad Gilchrist Brad Gilchrist Gilchrist Farms

This cow is the reason you should follow pedigrees - on the cow side you have 4 breed leading sires. Femininity, volume and mass are three characteristics that show up in this SS Objective cow. She is a powerful, deep bodied individual that has developed into an amazing brood cow. This is a great uddered 3 yr old that is truly a herd building type of cow. Her 1st calf was a Hoover Dam bull calf that has gone on to be one of the best we have raised. Her 2nd calf which is offered beside her today is just as good. She is safe in calf rebred to Hoover Dam for a Jan 2nd calf.

Her pedigree is stacked with maternal power and proven genetics. She will make a great show heifer and an excellent cow. I’ve been told that if we ever had a chance to acquire a good New Day female, that we should jump at the opportunity … well we are giving you the chance to jump at it! This heifer stems from the Champion Ellie family at Top Line Farm in Illinois. Her granddam was a Division Champion at the 2007 Illinois Angus Futurity and was also the 2007 Royal Winter Fair Reserve Champion Intermediate Yearling. If you like to show cattle and you like to hang up banners, then this is the opportunity for you - Embryos out of a Champion! Hawthorne Queen 1R caught everyone’s attention when she was slapped Supreme Champion at the 2006 National Junior Heifer Show at the Royal Winter Fair. Today she is still beautiful and elegant, yet powerful enough to produce Hawthorne Queen 17Y (Brilliance), top selling Angus at RAWF’s 2011 Elite Breed Sale, selling for $5900. In 2010 another daughter, Hawthorne Queen 6W (Fullback), won Supreme Champion Heifer at Beef Expo and Youth Forum and then went on to be the Reserve Champion Angus at the National Junior Heifer Show. These heifers are full sibs to the embryos selling and … the list doesn’t stop there! In 2009 a full sib to 1R, Clair Lane Miss Strawberry 1U, was named RAWF’s Senior Champion Yearling Female. Full sib, Clair Lane Gladiator 3X sold for $3500 to Crossland Angus at the 2011 Augus Futurity Sale. Most recently, Hawthorne Queen 9Y, a Fullback and out of a full sib to Queen 1R, (owned by Denver Bolton) was slapped Reserve Grand Champion Owned Heifer at the 2012 Canadian Junior Angus Show. This is a long list of Champions and a family loaded with value. The donor’s pedigree speaks volumes. Her clean fronted, super stylish progeny are the proof. These matings are tried, tested and true. Selling 4 embryos; guaranteeing 2 pregnancies if implanted by an accredited vet. These embryos are exportable and are stored in the vet’s tank. Consigned by: Clair Lane Stock Farm

This heifer is a maternal sister to Brantnor’s Edam 16X who we purchased in the 2010 Royal Elite Sale. 16X completed a successful show season in which she was named Supreme Champion Jr Heifer at Brampton Fair, RAWF Champion Senior Yearling and Reserve Grand Champion Heifer at Top Meadow Jr Heifer Show for Brad MacIntyre. We came to appreciate the qualities 16X brought to the table so much we purchased her dam after the 2011 RAWF and as a result are offering buyers the opportunity to acquire these proven genetics. The mating of SAV Predominant to Edam 1T has produced this fancy heifer calf, 1Z, and she has the potential to be as successful as her sister, 16X. 16X had an exceptional show career and has gone on to be a very productive mother with a fancy heifer calf at her side.
