n behalf of everyone involved I would like to welcome you to the “2012 Western Elite” In the Yards at the National Western Stock Show. As you will see we have added some new operations to this year’s event. They are firms that share our belief, passion and commitment. They have added a great amount of QUALITY and DIVERSITY to the event. The Western Elite, from its inception has focused on being a first class event that was unique and different than anything at the stock show featuring an offering of “Elite Seedstock” from breeders that understand the business and are in it for the long haul. As you view this catalog that “Highlights the Offering” we hope it is clear that we have dug deep into our herds to bring you an offering that again is beyond impressive. The biggest additions to the sale are more young cows, bred heifers and “THE BULLS”… They are big time AI/Promotional quality herd bulls…Both maternal and club calf sires being offered! American Agriculture and especially the cattle business are in uncharted waters and it looks like there are a lot of good years ahead of us. Now is the time and the Western Elite is the place to invest in quality genetics to put your program in the DRIVERS SEAT for years to come. Be sure to read about the Western Elite success stories, there are numerous examples of cows that doubled and even tripled there purchase price with their first calf. THE QUALITY RUNS DEEP…Please visit our website to view the video previews. Print it and bring it with you, call us and we will mail you one or we will have a copy waiting for you in Denver. The cattle will be in the “Yards” and available for your inspection starting Thursday January 12th, 2012. We would invite you to inspect the cattle at our ranches in Southeast Wyoming at any time prior to the Sale. We hope to see you in Denver, please call if we can be of any assistance.

Lot 3 - Bauman DeRouchey Hoo Doo 4569
Lot 3 - Mature Photo, December 2011
Proven and Productive Hoo Doo Genetics Tattoo 4569 • Purebred Charolais • Calved Spring 2004 Sire: Hoo Doo Ranch Dam: Hoo Doo Ranch Service: A.I. 7/8 Felony (Kojak x Full sister to Yellow Jacket)
Here is a real proven, power donor from Bauman’s B3 program. She has generated many top sellers including a Friction daughter sold to Jake Frankie and Garrett Parsons, a Lifeline daughter selling to Tim Burke, and a top Madrid son sold to Bob May. A flush to Friction produced three embryos that were sale toppers in a past Embryos on Snow sale. These embryos went on to produce high sellers in the Kustom Fitted Cattle 2011 fall sale. 4569 is owned in partnership with DeRouchey Cattle Co., Fred DeRouchey. We are reluctant to sell this top producing donor and offer her as a highlight to this sale offering. She is one of the most powerfully constructed, big ribbed Hoo Doo females in extistance with a moderate frame. She has lots of bone and substance and added thickness. A mating to Heat Wave or similar club calf bulls is sure to highlight any progressive embryo program.

Great Genetics - Proven Donor Dam Tattoo 405 • Black Baldy • Calved Spring 2005 Sire: GCC Grizz 0065 (8 Million) Dam: Who Made Who Service: A.I. 5/31 Monopoly
A HIGHLY PROVEN BROCKLEFACE…WITH WORLDS OF POTENTIAL. Here’s a beautiful fronted, ultra feminine female that from the profile is put together like the text books explain. She is smooth shouldered, long, level and strong down her top and has a perfect rump design.
Grizz daughters have long been consistent producers. Pictured above is Collins 950, sired by GCC Grizz.
She is super correct on her feet and legs and can move like a cat. TMAC has kept several daughters out of this cow to replace her. She raised a high seller by Heat Wave that sold to Stenberg. This year she raised a bull calf by Adrenalin that may be her greatest accomplishment to date…SHE IS BIGTIME GOOD. She can raise breeding cattle or steers with equal ease…And that’s a rare find. This cow has never been flushed but our bet is when you see the Monopoly calf she is carrying she’ll be in the new owners donor pen. V I E W T H E V I D E O P R E V I E W O F E A C H L O T A T W W W. These Draft Pick influenced females do it all! They are PREDICTABLE, PRACTICAL AND PRODUCTIVE. These females are the most versatile cows I have ever been around… And the reason is they are good cattle first…with the added bonus of being able to make show cattle, and they consistently do that. They will make show steers or breeding cattle with equal ease. As an example the Lot 12 Draft Pick influenced female that sold last year to Bryan McKay raised a $10,000 Heat Wave Steer that went on to be The Reserve Grand Champion Steer at the 2011 NILE for the Maronde

Here is another real POWER COW
Donor Dams & Foundation Young Cows
with a lot of class and character and a little chrome...You will want to see this one! Before you go turning up your noses at Heat Wave Females from a production standpoint I suggest you first find out what there mothers are. I’ll promise you the ones out of truly maternal dams will work! This cow milked good and bred back early twice…please turn back to lot 61 and have a look at her first calf out of one of our low birth weight Angus heifer bulls…WOW! Now just imagine what the smoky Troubadour she is carrying might look like. Big time potential!
Tattoo 8012 • Black • Calved Spring 2008 Sire: Heat Wave Dam: Meyer 734 x Angus Service: A.I. 6/5 Troubadour
Daughter of Lot 11 This featured daughter of Lot 11 sells as Lot 61 in the bred heifer division.
Lot 11 - Duello HeatWave Meyer 8012 Here is the thickest ended, stoutest and hairiest of the young cows in the sale…And again she is safe to Troubadour. She is out of a really good Meyer x Maine x Angus cow. 8079 is absolutely huge topped and a big ribbed, wide based female that screams power!!! She is big boned, correct in her structure and has a great look from the profile. We had our first Troubadours last fall and they are exciting. A little research would prove that the bulk of the Troubadour Steers (and there are several) that are winning in the south are out of Heat Wave influenced dams. IT REALLY WORKS!
Lot 12 - Duello HeatWaveMeyer 8079 Service Sire to Lots 11 and 12 plus others. A great chance for quick return!

Here is the first of only three direct Meyer 734 daughters in the sale. These direct daughters of Meyer are getting hard to come by. Time has proven the value of these females in both the maternal and show steer part of our business. The portion of the high sellers and/or champions with a shot of Meyer in their pedigree is staggering. If you are in this business for the one freak, this one might not be for you. However, if you are in it for the long haul, this one will provide the foundation for great things. Our Wide Opens are everything we could have hoped for…He is a real breeding bull!

The power is not missing in this
Donor Dams & Foundation Young Cows
dark red young donor prospect. She is big topped with lots of natural thickness. This cow is unique in her make-up as she blends from head to tail as smooth as you can make one. Her easy fleshing and stoutness could make her an asset to your program. Our goal is to bring the kind of cows to town that we would like to purchase. This outstanding female will not disappoint any leading buyer or embryo operation. Her mating to Felony could be special!

This is one of the leading dams for donor placement in the entire offering. She is a beautiful, grey smoke, daughter of Alias that will be a true asset to any outfit. Alias females are leaving their mark across the industry as great producers. They have the ability to be mated to a wide variety of bulls, giving the breeder endless opportunities. This young cow is totally complete, with lots of correctness and body. Bauman’s have retained her first calf by Northern Improvement and one by Felony as replacement females. They are excited about these

This will be a crowd favorite when
Donor Dams & Foundation Young Cows
we get to Denver. She should have been featured in the ads and brochure. 8018 can make breeding cattle or show steers… she has a big square hip, is thick and strong in her top and is a big bodied, great necked young cow with looks and power to burn. The mating possibilities of these Meyer granddaughters with a shot of Maine in them are endless. I bred her to Wide Open to make the next generation of great maternal genetics, if you are more interested in steer production I’d like a chance at her Wide Open calf.

Here is a beautiful young Meyer daughter out of a great EXT dam that came from Ankony’s SimAngus ET Program a few years ago. She is an awesome necked, extra feminine female that is up headed, big bodied and flat out attractive. S140 is a good milking, nice uddered young cow that is structurally right and as sound moving as they come. The Troubadour x Meyer combination at Collins and Duellos is a home run… I have never witnessed a more versatile, consistent, attractive and powerful set of Smokey colored calves in all my travels.

STEER PROGRAMS PAY
Donor Dams & Foundation Young Cows
ATTENTION HERE!!! This is a great cow with a proven track record. Her 2011 steer by Heat Wave may have been the best one born at Duello’s in a long time…He went to Caldwell for $15,000. He was just a green late April and there is no telling what he might have brought if he was sixty days older when most of the traffic was through here. This cow is freak necked, monster hipped, heavy structured and gorgeous from the profile. She was weaned late and a little green at picture time. You wont have any trouble finding her in Denver…She will be in the pen with the biggest

crowd of lookers.
Tattoo 50199 • Black • Calved Spring 2005 Sire: Draftpick Son Dam: Angus Service: A.I. 7/9 Heat Wave 5
WHAT A STORY HERE! This three year old Tyson daughter raised the Featured Lot 52 Bred Heifer in this sale and Doc is going to give you a chance to buy the cow also. Good cowmen pay attention here… you might consider keeping the pair together. Note there are two service sires. This cow was in heat the day we switched bulls in that pasture. The color of the calf will guarantee the sire of the calf, no need to DNA. We are betting on a great Smokey by Troubadour.

I have been a huge fan of the
Donor Dams & Foundation Young Cows
Aftershock cattle since I saw the first set of bred heifers at Bauman’s nearly ten years ago. This might be the stoutest built and hairiest one of the thousands of them I have seen since. 7040 is an absolutely huge topped, big hipped cow that is wide based, big ribbed and just plain massive. She is a strong, level topped female that is good necked, big boned and very correct on her feet and legs. Here’s the kind of power cow that should really work to Monopoly.
Lot 21 - Duello Aftershock 7040 Tattoo 7040 • Black • Calved Spring 2007 Sire: Aftershock (Meyer 734) Dam: Maine x Angus Service: A.I. 7/9 Monopoly
This beautiful four year old is classic Aftershock…Great necked, feminine designed, awesome profiling cattle that are good bodied, excellent uddered, sound structured and ultra prolific. 7056 is stout enough in her kind and as correct and attractive in her profile as you can make one. Wide Open has really worked great on these kind of females… They will make Foundation Simmy’s to generate breeding cattle or club calves.

Black Labels are leaving their mark as functional aows. W112’s 2011 maternal sister was purchased by Gregory Connell of Eugine, MO and will be shown this year. This a smooth shouldered, big bodied female. Heat Wave x Whiskey is proven!
This is a stunning bald faced Meyer Granddaughter with extra body and power. They can’t all be at the front of the catalog. You need to look this one up…and she’s only a three year old.
The last of the direct Meyers in the offering. This one is extra big ribbed and thick hipped. She is out of a great Right Time Angus Donor from Ankony. We have daughters to replace her. A real opportuni ty.

They just keep coming…Another Aftershock x Monopoly combination… And they are just three year olds. Adjust your sights. There is some real sorting to do in this set of young cows.
Here is really a soft bodied, big volume young cow with a proven track record. Take note of her first calf by Tyson that sells as Lot 81 in the bred heifer section of this offering. The Troubadour this one is carrying should be exciting!

These Blue Blood females are exceptional. Here’s a stout baldy with a shot of Meyer and Maine that has the potential to blow the top off with the Heat Wave baby she is carrying
The way Heat Wave has worked on the Draft Pick based females at Duello’s this one is positioned for a home run. We have traditionally used these females to generate maternal genetics However every time we have mated one to Heat Wave it has really clicked.
Big time Maintainer potential here. This is a real complete attractive three year old Tyson that’s Safe in calf to Sting who was a $19,500 Featured Lot in the 2011 Western Elite. He’s a Yellow Jacket x Irish Whiskey.

Here is a sure thing…Safe to Troubadour. This combination hasn’t been seen much in the North yet. I promise you it’s working in the south. Don’t miss the chance here. This is one stout female.
If you want them extra big boned, hairy and stout then here’s your cow. These females milked well and did a good job as cows. We didn’t get this one bred to Troubadour but I’ll bet you get a stout, cool, hairy one out of Wide Open.

Here is the under rated cow in the photo contest for the 2012 Western Elite Catalog. She’s a freak necked, clean made, big topped steer makin machine! This cow is way good on her hind leg; we just couldn’t get her to stop right.
Here’s another cow we think you will like better in the video and in person. She is really long and level in her rump and a big boned, good profiling, clean patterned young cow that should really hit with Heat Wave.
This young cow has had two Grizzly’s that are excellent. She is a beautiful combination of substance, power, look and soundness. She is really smooth, clean and stylish. Her mother was one of my favorite Meyers… And She’s Safe to Troubadour.

A super long necked, up headed three year old that is stout and sound. We bred them to Troubadour because it works!
A real moderate framed, big bodied female that is good haired and soft made. Her mother was one of those classic Draft Pick influenced females, much like Lots 7 and 8 in this offering.
Here’s a good young cow that chose not to cooperate on picture day. She was weaned late and maybe a little green right now. However, SHE IS THE BIGGEST BONED FREAKIEST NECKED ONE IN THE SALE!

Sorry about the long scur on this cow, it will be gone when she gets to Denver. She is a good producing Full Flush Granddaughter. Look at her daughter, pictured as Lot 72 in this offering.

165x has always been a favorite, even as a calf in pasture. She caught everyone’s eye. To your advantage and their loss, Bauman’s have decided to part with this great female. Izzi is an original Heat Wave daughter out of the Bazi donor dam. Bazi is a Meyer 734 daughter out of our old line, Heartbeat x Stout cow family. Bruce stated, “This is, without question, the most maternal and strongest cow family in the Bauman program. Consistently this cow family kicks out productive, top calves.” A daughter from this line has tremendous genetic potential. Izzy will immediately catch your eye with her color and style, but when you analyze her, you can’t overlook her great upper rib shape. She is great fronted, deep bodied and this kind of perfect structure is hard to find. Her phenotype, backed by her underlying maternal genetics and strength in pedigree, justify her front pasture presence and donor potential.

We dug painfully deep into the bred heifers at Duello’s for this event. What a way to start! The four Total Solution Daughters featured in this year’s sale are incredible. We were slow to catch on to Total Solution and what a shame, we used him on first calf heifers in 2009 with amazing results. 0186 is a stunning individual, she is blessed with all the mass, power and substance you could ever want and a look to die for. Her mother is obviously a big part of the equation; she is a really attractive, super complete young Tyson daughter that raised this one as a first calf heifer. HER DAM SELLS AS LOT 20 IN THIS OFFERING. It looks to me like here’s a pair of females that are destined for the donor pen.

THIS MAY BE THE STOUTEST OF THE TOTAL SOLUTION’S. She is massive in her rib shape with as much depth and center body as you need to put in one. She complements this with tremendous dimension and shape down her top, a big square hip and is thick and powerful clear to her hock. Along with this power comes a smooth, straight lined female that is stunning from the profile. She is neat shouldered, strong topped and clean patterned. She too, was born and raised by a first calf heifer. Calving ease genetics with this much power, quality and look don’t come along every day. Her sire is gone and so is most of the semen…IT’S TIME TO GET ON BOARD WITH A GREAT DAUGHTER.

As another new addition to the Western Elite, we turned to the good program of Rob Millers in Sedan, Kansas. Rob, originally from Canada is no stranger to the “right kind” of genetics for club calf production. His knowledge and ability, especially in the area of old Maine of many winning and top selling cattle. Rob has produced many winners including the Grand or Reserve Grand Champions at the Tulsa State Fair, Michigan State Fairs, and Cow Palace plus many others in Canada. Rob has brought three of the most powerful Charolais cross female to sell anywhere this year. He too, gave up a great deal to offers these heifers for the Western Elite. THIS MIGHT BE THE HEAVIEST BONED, HAIRIEST AND COOLEST LOOKING OF THE TOTAL SOLUTIONS. I just can’t say enough about the quality and potential of these bred heifers. 0187 is really good out of her neck, clean and attractive from the profile with worlds of balance. She is a thick, square hipped female that is great haired and has a powerful hind leg. The maternal side of her pedigree just adds to her value and potential as a great club calf mamma. This is one of the most unique built females in the offering. She has a tremendous top in terms of dimension and levelness and she is perfect rumped. 0158 is a thick ended extra big ribbed female that is deep bodied and soft centered. Additionally, she is stunning from the her shoulder and she is a clean patterned, smooth made individual that is correct in her structure with exceptional soundness and balance. She’s been a real standout since birth and I expect her to be in Denver also.

THE PAINTED POWER HOUSE!!! You need to see this one to truly appreciate her. A picture can’t portray the amount of dimension and power this one possess. She is extra wide in her pins and a big hipped female that is tremendous in terms of rib shape, depth and base width. 0179 does all this and still is a feminine, smooth, well balanced female with exceptional structural quality. Chromed up or not this is one of the good ones…I think her color adds to her uniqueness.

By video time we were impressed to say the least. She’s got all the right parts, the body, the rib shape and the perfect front end. She’s got the Alias look in a brood cow package. Wow, what hair! Here’s a major donor candidate. This set of bred heifers is deep!

Yellow Jacket daughters are emerging as some of the most sought after cows in the club calf producing business. Their mating to Heat Wave and these kind of club calf producing genetics is consistenly proving a “sure fire” cross. Yellow Jacket 457 was greener at photo time, after coming through one of the toughest summers Kris has endured in many years. This bred heifer is long necked, square hipped and has that major club claf producing look! She’s a perfect candidate for the matings that are known to work. Lots of bone, power and promise in this good female from Kris Black.

A powerfully stout Hereford female right out of the Kris Black program. This heifer should proven big returns with her mating to Fuzzy, who has already generated top sellers. Lots of bone and power in this heifer. It’s hard to find Herefords like this one.
This female was picked off the top of the Kris Black spring bred heifers. She is extra expressive in her muscle pattern and is out of a good Hoo Doo cow in the Black program.
This bred heifer is just what you’re looking for in a club calf producing type female. A maternal bred, daughter of Irish Whiskey, out of a good producing Angus dam. This heifer is moderate framed and real correct. A great candidate for mating to Heat Wave or similar sires.

This is really an impressive Maintainer female that refused to pick her head up for the photo. This is one of the boldest sprug, heaviest muscled cattle in the sale. She is really soft and sound with plenty of look.
These heifers are back here in the catalog because of there lack of cooperation with the photographer not because of there quality. This Angus sired female is real cowy. She is bred like, and is cut out of the same mold as the Featured Lot 61.

This super stout one is a little more extended in her profile yet she is huge bodied, big boned and extra sound.

Walks Alone really did a nice job on our more moderate framed Meyer x Maine cows. This heifer is real complete…Lots of muscle and rib shape in a extra clean attractive well balanced package.
She might not be for everybody but if you like them small framed ,massive in their body and bone, incredibly thick made with yak hair then this is your heifer. This thing will be mind boggling as a mature cow.

Another really good daughter of Troubadour from Rob Miller. She sells safe to Eagle Eye. Her dam is a direct daughter of Cunia and top producer for Miller. She comes from the top of the Miller Spring program.

Tuff is the bull in the offering that you really need to see to truly appreciate. He is just an April calf that has really turned it on since the photo. Obvious is the popularity and proven value of both sides of his pedigree… Whiskey needs no introduction and Tuff’s mother, who is a featured donor at Duellos was born and raised in the Duff program. The uniqueness of this great young calf that can’t accurately be seen in a photo, is his design. He is perfect in his pin set and rump design, has exceptional thickness and power yet he’s smooth made and extra well balanced. He is an atypical Whishey, in that his neck comes out of the top of his shoulder, he is really clean chested and he has the absolute perfect set and flex to his hock and pastern. We think this is a great pair of Irish Whiskey sons with unlimited potential for female production…WE BELIEVE IN THESE TWO PROSPECTS AND PLAN TO IMPLEMENT THEM IN OUR PROGRAMS.
