LMAC Policy on Traceability

The Livestock Markets Association of Canada supports traceability in principle, with the following caveats: 1. That traceability regulations do not negatively affect the speed of commerce at auction markets, kets buying stations and assembly yards. 2. That the traceability regulations do not alter market neutrality by giving one sector of the industry an advantage or disadvantage over another, thus influencing how producers market ketark their livestock. 3. That the costs of implementing traceability do not outweigh the benefits. 4. That implementation of traceability regulations does not cause more handling of the livestock e livestock thus creating weight loss, thus devaluing the livestock. 5. LMAC supports the use of “group movement documents and group movement reporting” on porting” onent reveme all livestock delivered to auction markets, buying stations and assembly yards. LMAC does not AC does not bly yad d ass LMAards. support mandatory scanning and reporting of individual animals at these sites. snimalsals at these sites. ese s
