Sale Day March 12, 2024 farmgatetimedauctions.ca

Welcome Welcome and Thanks for looking at our bulls on Farmgate Timed Auctions. Is there a way to add more pounds to your calf crop beyond what you are already doing? The answer is yes! and its called hybrid vigor. when you introduce a new breed to your program the cross breeding can increase your weaning weights by 1520 pounds per calf before you even look at pedigree or performance. I believe the vast majority of the cow herd in Western Canada is Simm/Angus based, so breeding these cows charolais to me is a perfect fit. We don’t have white bulls, bust rest assured they are all registered charolais. Give us a call and I’d be happy to talk about your cows and ours. Darryl Friesen

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DLMS FARM GATE TIMED AUCTION WITH EXTENDED BIDDING: For more info and assistance with bidding contact DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auctions ~ Mark Shologan Ph: 780-699-5082 email- markshologan@gmail.com 1. Visit dlms.ca and follow the link to the DLMS Farm Gate timed auction site www.farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your username and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions. 2. You can choose your favorite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity. 3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. 4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by the time listed on each sale. In Most cases the time gets shorter the longer in to extended bidding the sale is. When no bidding occurs for the extended time the computer will declare the sale finished. 5. Following the sale the Owner or Sale Manager will invoice all buyers in the sale, please contact the seller with questions or to arrange delivery, pick up or shipping of your purchases.

FAQ

WHAT IS RACEHORSE STYLE SALE CLOSE? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding. HOW WILL EXTENDED BIDDING WORK? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

Kaiser is for sure a game winner, smooth made, deep, thick and attractive. I don’t raise very many tan colored bulls but 1K is one of the best. I bought 1k in dam from the TRI-N dispersal sale. Powerful stacked pedigree in this cow’s lineage. Full ET sister sold for $30,000 as the high selling female. 1k ranks in the top 2% for milk.

2K is a little larger framed Canyon son that should still calve great on any style of cow. His mother always calves a couple weeks early so it wouldn’t surprise me if he shortens the gestation by 5-10 days. His calves should grow like weeds.

Every year I have one or 2 bulls that seem fairly regular that first winter and then just pop the second winter on feed. 3K is that bull. Well balanced. Muscular and masculine. His phenotype checks all the boxes. His mother is a very attractive made cow, that probably should have been showed.

This is the first group of Green Giant sons that I have for sale and what really stands out for me is their feed conversion. If you background your calves one of these green giant sons would be an excellent choice. 7K was the top gainer and man, what a looker! I have the bulls listed in birth order but 7K could sure have been the lead off bull. Probably one of the most exciting things going on at DM Livestock is the addition of black charolais to our program. 8K is the only black bull to sell this year but what a thick little rascal he is. He had a slow start because he got weaned off early, but he has caught up well and looks like a stud. Why black charolais? Why Not! A great outcross to any commercial black cows. A larger framed bull that will add body and substance to your calves. Some producers only want light birthweight bull that allow them to sleep easy at night and may sacrifice some weaning weight, others don’t. This bull will throw 100 lbs. + calves that will crush the scales in fall. Use on mature cows with confidence.

This Bushwaker son always catches my eye when I walk through the pen. Maybe its his extreme length, or impeccable hoof and leg structure or his depth of body and smooth build. Whether you are in the Northeast with bugs and mud or in the Southwest with hills and big acres this bull will get your cows covered.

Something I really like about the Redzone calves I have raised is how cleaned up they are in their throat latch, brisket and sheath. I have seen some charolais genetics and other exotic breeds that have gotten so “Leathery” that the steer calves could almost get called “coarse” at the pre-sort sale. A bull like 17 K won’t let that happen. A very dark red bull with an exceptional profile. 19K is a quiet bull that has developed good muscle definition as he nears his second birthday. He comes out of a very protective cow that I could never touch her calves for at least 24 hours. When 19K was born it was -20 at 9pm…. Outside. No barn. No earmuffs. No frozen ears. Cows with that protective mothering instinct drive you crazy as a purebred breeder trying to get a birthweight or tag on them but they sure know how to get a calf going. Recommended for mature cows. 20K came out of a cow I would call my heaviest milking cow on the farm.Although charolais are most popular for their terminal values which I totally respect and strive for, I am also trying hard to build a herd of strong milking charolais cows. Well, 20K has all the maternal you would need to raise a great set of females. Debatable but this guy could be the thickest bull in the pen.
