AT THE RANCH BIDDING WILL BE ONLINE TIMED AUCTION WITH DLMS
FRIDAY MARCH 7, 2025
Fellow Cattlemen.
A big hello & warm welcome to our 22nd Annual Bull Sale, from everyone here at Easy Ray Angus.
As I sit here pondering, with paper and pen in hand, thinking of what to write. It is with great gratitude, we are humbled for all our Neighbors, Friends, and Loyal Customers. That we have assembled through the last 25 years, in the purebread Angus bussiness. When you are in the Angus bussiness, you are in the Beef Business. It’s a joy to be involved in this way of Life. Especially the last few years.
Folks hold unto your horses it is on fire. Fat Cattle this week are $4.60 on the rail. Cow numbers are down and Feed yards can’t seem to find enough calves. Already into the new year, record prices are being achieved for Feeder Cattle. Those ranches that are marketing this spring, they will be rewarded.
Our Angus Cattle are the type that will go to 1200 - 1400 lbs. with very little grain. Feeders know that. When Barley hit $10.00 a bushel + corn $9.00 American. You know wich type of cattle that will do that (BLACK ANGUS AT EASY RAY). We put our heart + soul into this outfit.
Hope to see alot of you before the sale. Everyone is welcome, stop by to view the offering. You won’t be dissapointed. Wishing you all the best of luck with calving. GOD BLESS Sincerly, Goerge + The Crew
NOTE: NEW VENUE THIS YEAR WITH DLMS, ONLINE TIMED AUCTION.

BULLS CAN BE VIEWED ANYTIME BEFORE THE SALE.
1. Visit www.dlms.ca , scroll down sale list to find the sale you are interested in bidding on. Click on the sale listing and you will be taken to the Farm Gate Timed Auction Sale page.
2. After you are at the Farm Gate Timed auction site - farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button.
First time Farm Gate users:
- First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. (please note due to some of the text notification features the Farm Gate Time Auction Site requires a new separate account from your DLMS Live sale site)
- After you create your Farm Gate account you will receive a text message with a pin code to verify your account.
- On your first login to Farm Gate Timed auctions we recommend you go to your profile and confirm your notifications are set to YES. This allows the site to send you text and/or email notifications when you are out bid and if there is activity on your favorite lots.
Returning Farm Gate users:
- If you have used Farm Gate Timed auctions in the past simply enter your username and password to continue. After you have logged in you are able to browse the timed auctions on DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auctions.
Now that you are logged in and your account phone number / email is verified you are able to bid on an upcoming sale. Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding on. After you have found the lot there are 2 options for bidding on the lot.
- Place Next Bid – to place the next bid on the item, you see the amount in the first box, you simply click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed.
- Max Bid Amount – to place a max bid you put your max bid in the second box listed as “Max Bid” on the item, and then click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed as the next bid. With the Max Bid placed the computer will then keep you as the high bidder to the max amount you have placed. This can be a great feature if you are not able to give 100% attention to the sale close out and protect your interest so you do not miss out on any lots you want to purchase. The Max Bid amount is completely confidential from the seller during the sale process. Example of How the Max Bid Works - If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. Please note that in some cases a lot value can change very quickly if 2 max bids are placed on the same lot competing against each other.
If you have items in multiple auctions or only a few from the same auction that you want to watch with out having to scroll through the entire list, you can add the lots to your watchlist. On each lot you will see the “eye” button beside the bid button, by clicking this “watchlist” Icon that item is added to your personal watchlist for easy viewing of just your favorite lots in this sale or on the entire site.
Most Farm Gate Timed Auction sales close racehorse style with extended bidding.
After the clock has gone to “ENDED” and no bidding has occurred for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished. Following the close typically within 24 hours of the sale close the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot. Or as the winning bidder you can contact the sale consignor / sale manager to confirm payment instructions.
Please make sure that your account info is up-to-date and correct if you are the winning bidder of a lot as this is how the billing is sent to Sale Manager and/or Sale Consignor.
Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.
When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.
All of our bulls are on the Phizer Gold Herd Health Program. The bulls have had all the shots twice, once at branding and then again at weaning. We also use Ivomec and Saber for Lice.
Our bulls have not been crawling in and out of a creep feeder all summer. We only creep 3 weeks after calving to get some rumensin, to manage coccidiosis. After weaning, they are on a high forage ration, dry hay, corn and hay silage, we go from one to no more than 3 lbs. of rolled barley till sale time. We refuse to feed for the rail, rather we strive to develop them for fertility.
Viewing the bulls - All of the bulls will be available for viewing at the sale site the day before the sale or at the farm anytime prior to the sale.
Wintering of the Bulls - We will winter your yearling bulls FREE OF CHARGE until April 15, 2025. After that feed costs of $3.00 per head per day will be charged. Any bulls returning to the consignors will be at buyers risk, the consignors will not be responsible for any type of injury while the bulls are in thier care. All the bulls being wintered must be insured.
Terms - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements will be made with the clerks of the sale immediately following the conclusion of the sale. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as it’s sold.
Delivery - We will deliver your bulls free of charge within 200 km, extra mileage will be at cost.
Registered Lots - A certificate of registry will be mailed to the buyer for each animal after settlement is made. All the bulls sell under the terms and condition of the Canadian Angus Association’s Breeders Guarantee.
Inspections & Semen Testing - All the bulls will be semen tested and vet inspected prior to the sale. Sale weights & scrotal measurments will be provided sale day.

BIRTH WEIGHT EPD (BW) EPD describes in pounds the difference in expected progeny weight, on average. A bull with a BW EPD of +4 will, on average, sire calves that are 2 pounds heavier than a bull with a BW EPD of +2 (given equal management).
WEANING WEIGHT EPD (WW) EPD describes in pounds the difference in expected weaning weight in progeny, on average. WW EPD is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. A bull with a WW EPD of +50 will sire calves that are, on average, 20 pounds heavier at weaning than a sire with a WW EPD of +30 (given equal management).
YEARLING WEIGHT EPD (YW) EPD describes in pounds the difference in expected yearling weight in progeny, on average. YW EPD is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit post weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. A bull with a YW EPD of +100 will sire calves that are, on average, 30 pounds heavier at weaning than a sire with a WW EPD of +70 (given equal management).
MILK (MILK) EPD describes, in pounds, the portion of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability. On average, daughters from a bull with a Milk EPD of +20 will contribute 5 pounds more to their calves’ weaning weight than the daughters of a bull with Milk EPD of +15. Milk EPD is a threshold trait that should be maintained at a moderate level dependent on the management and environment of the herd.
CALVING EASE DIRECT (CED) EPD describes the percentage of expected unassisted births when a bull is exposed to first-time heifers. The higher the number, the higher the probability that first-time heifers bred to the bull in question will calve with no assistance. The EPD predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to firstcalf heifers.
Calving Ease Maternal (MCE) EPD describes the probability of not requiring assistance when a bull’s daughters calve for the first time. The higher the EPD, the higher the probability that a bull’s daughters will not require assistance at calving time.
