WELCOME TO THE ANNUAL FALL FEATURE FEMALE SALE
With cattle prices at an all time high, it is an exciting time to be in the cattle business. That being said, there is no better time to invest in some quality females that will add to your herd in the years to come. This year’s sale is put together by the same sale group as last year; with the exception of Potter Charolais. Potter Charolais was a huge part in getting this sale off the ground, and we would like to wish them all the best in their future endeavors. As you browse through the catalogue, you will see some stand out females that our consignors have brought forward, from brood cows to show prospect heifer calves. Come by early for lunch prior to the sale and please do not hesitate to contact myself, sale staff or consignors if you have any questions. Thank you all for your ongoing support and we look forward to seeing you there.
Josh Taylor, ChairmanWELCOME TO THIS YEAR’S FALL FEATURE SALE
Nine consignors from across Ontario and Quebec have dug deep in their programs and put forth another high-quality offering in this year’s Fall Feature Sale. Variation in pedigree with some front-line genetics make this a very attractive set of cattle. From proven producers to future brood matrons, to show prospect heifer calves, to frozen genetics there is something here that will fit into any program in the country. Cattle from this sale have gone on to be top producers in some of the front-end herds across Canada. Show winners and donor females have come out of this sale on a regular basis. Study the catalogue and have a look at the videos at bylivestock.com. Give the consignors a call or stop by their farms to view their operations ahead of time. I know you will be impressed with all the offering.
Make this an Ontario Charolais weekend with the Uppin’ the Ante sale in Hanover on Friday evening and the Fall Feature sale on Saturday afternoon. If Candace or I can be any assistance before the sale, or at the sale, give us a call. We will help make your buying experience pleasurable.
Always in the best interest of Charolais,
Helge & Candace By

An easy favourite; beautiful profile, capacity and style with a dam that has proven herself time and time again! Previous maternal sibs have sold through our bull and heifer pens with ease! Backed up on the sire side by our now deceased herdsire, Balamore Galactic. Although Galactic is gone, we are so impressed by the impact that he has left on our calf crops and cannot wait to see what the future has in store for them!

1K is a female that is hard to let go, and only because we have a full brother walking as a herd sire and a full sister in the replacement pen are we offering her in this years sale. She is the kind of female that we strive to produce, feminine, sound, high performance and her 10-year old Fargo dam is a testament to the longevity of the cow family. We think this female has a very bright future ahead of her and we’re excited to see what she can do for her new owners. We would like to reserve the right to one successful flush at our expense and the buyer’s convenience.

Katherine is a great example of our LT Del Rey daughters. We are very impressed with her structure and eye appeal. Consistently, we find the Del Rey daughters to be easy fleshing with great hip muscling. Katherine is bred to the calving ease bull, WCR Bold Move 168 P, for an early January calf. Bold Move was the top selling bull at the 2023

Sunrise Kaliope 10K
A Maverick out of a Clyde
Yes, it hurts a little to let this one go but then, if it doesn’t, you’re not offering the right ones for sale. Of course, her dad needs no introduction to a Charolais audience and her mom was a hard won purchase from the Sterling sale a couple of years ago. We had been longing for one of those incredibly deep ribbed Clyde daughters for some time and we finally pressed the bid button enough times to actually own one. Kaliope continues to grow into her own and by the time she stands in your front pasture next spring with a calf at side, she’s going to be one that gets noticed. Catching on her first service, she’s bred early to Blueprint. He’s a TR CAG Carbon Copy that offers great calving ease, tremendous depth and thickness, top 1% for MTL, top 2% for milk and top 3% for YW. A highly anticipated mating for sure.

Cedardale Kicking Cowgirl 148K
Attractive, feminine, level topped and explosive muscle best describes 148K. From our now deceased LAE Defender walking herdsire from Horseshoe E in Saskatchewan, 148K is one of the last progeny we will get to enjoy from him. The addition of Keys All State on the bottom side is no mistake. If you like cattle that are sound, with longevity and a ton of style, then consider adding 148K to your herd. Only an April Heifer, she is confirmed bred to Cedardale Kaiser 16K, adding bloodlines from Cedardale Zeal and LT Affinity can only increase the potential of this young heifer! 148K is Anna’s 4-H project for the year. At the buyer’s agreement, we would like to retain possession of her with intentions to head to the National Jr. Beef Heifer Show.

Hicks Gambit 902G
Purebred Pregnant Recipient - no exposure
Carrying an LT Brenda 2184 Pld x WGD Ruger 8J embryo - implanted April 5
Here’s an offering that must be considered in a couple different ways. First, Gambit is an incredibly well made, purebred cow. She’s a Maverick daughter, homo-polled, stylish and one that has not only produced a good one of her own making previously, she’s sure to be a productive purebred in the future. So that’s one way to see her, but this time around she’s incubating some pretty precious cargo. Truth is, we had a package of recips lined up this spring and 902 just happened to be in heat on the same day as them. With powerful flushes and game changing embryos consuming our thoughts, it just made sense to use her. And please note there is no guesswork here; she had no exposure so she is carrying a Brenda X Ruger embryo for certain.

Brenda is one of the most recognized and highly sought after females in the Charolais breed. Her progeny are topping sales both North and South of the border and rightly so, powerful sons and picture-perfect daughters always do. To add excitement and anticipation to the package, I introduce Ruger, a bull who surely needs no introduction. At $72,000 he was the high selling bull for spring 2022, he was Agribition Reserve Champion last fall and he’s one that’s only getting starting. With many bidders clamoring for limited semen packs last fall, and a very prolific female, what you have in the making here is quite possibly a highly sought after champion.

Lourdes is a beautiful Gaucho daughter out of one of our no-miss, foundation cows, Eden 19E. Naturally then when you toss him in the blender with an easy calving tank of a Zeal mom, the resulting shake is truly exhilarating to say the least. Oh and the bonus froth on top would be Lourde’s sweet temperament. She has been a natural pet since birth and we believe she’s a calf with a great future ahead. Whew Lily, one look and you’ll be hooked! Well, that’s our take on her anyway. Here’s one of the first few calves offered from the 2021 Player’s Club Champion, MVY Backdraft. If you missed that prestigious event, Backdraft rose to the top out of a ring of excellence and was actually chosen by not 1 but over 30 judges that day. Critiqued from nose to tail for over an hour, the reasons were countless for his win and I’d simply use the word exceptional to describe him. Add to that, the birthing unit: a great uddered, good tempered, deep, attractive, homo-polled Maverick daughter and then you get Lily. She is a girl from incredibly good genetics that is certain to write her own story in the ring or front pasture.

Cedardale Ms Lilac is broke to be kid friendly as Paige’s 4-H project for this year, but she is also built to be a power cow! When you align LT Wyoming Wind, Sparrows Alcatraz &Birmingham in addition to LHD Cigar; it becomes very obvious this heifer has maternal power built in for the long haul. We admire this heifer for her length, balance and muscle. As this fine young lady matures we are confident in her ability to be a high volume brood cow with ample chest floor and base width to make some powerful progeny! – Sells Open

This heifer could stand to hang a halter. Her granddam, TAYLOR 6X is still working in our herd at 13 years old, with perfect feet and a bolt on udder. There is longevity in this girl’s pedigree. Lava quickly became our daughter’s favorite as she played hard to get, but once caught patiently waited to be haltered in order to receive scratches and multiple hugs from the girl that adored her. She will be a hot commodity like her name, don’t get burned and miss out.

This is a heifer calf you don’t want to overlook! Lady is a strong, solid heifer with great eye appeal. Her dam, KBF 24D is a big, strong cow with excellent udder, feet, and natural fleshing, traits that we are sure have been passed onto her offspring. KBF 24D has hit it out of the ballpark two years in a row with Lady Luck 1L and our bred heifer KBF 44K that is also offered in this sale as Lot 14. The offspring of KBF 1L’s sire, C2 Galeleo 3G, were easy to calve and show beautiful development as they grow older.
