welcome TO OUR 30 TH ANNUAL BULL SALE
On behalf of my family, I would like to welcome you to our 30th Annual Bull Sale. As I mentioned in a welcome a few years ago, when we first moved to our own bull sale at the old Auction Mart, a lot has changed over the years. The agricultural world has accelerated rapidly since the mid-’80s, and with that growth, we’ve gained the ability to produce and analyze much more data than ever before. EPDs (Expected Progeny Differences) and genomics are powerful tools that help guide our breeding decisions. However, one thing that has remained unchanged is the importance of assessing cattle first-hand to determine which ones will best fit into your program and environment.
This year marks a significant milestone for us. Our family has grown again, and the next generation is stepping up. Cindy and I are thrilled to announce the arrival of our newest grandchild, Hudson, the son of Justin and Josée. Grandma Marlene has the first “official” photo with Hudson and a calf, but we’re sure there will be many more! Henry and Levi are growing into young men with a sharp eye for the farm, all while staying active with their sports. Isabelle is almost ready to drive legally, which is making her dad nervous, but she’s maturing into a beautiful young lady. Carter is preparing to graduate this spring and is ready for his next chapter. We are fortunate that all of our young ones have their roots firmly planted in agriculture. Henry and Levi, in particular, have no problem explaining the ups and downs of farm life to their urban friends and teachers.
As we look to 2025, the outlook for the cattle industry has never been brighter. Prices are at record highs across all classes, and while that’s a positive sign. The perseverance of today’s cattle producers is finally paying off, and we’re seeing rewards for our hard work and dedication. Feed supplies are looking better this season, and with the snow cover we’ve received, we’re set up for an exciting spring and summer ahead.
OUR OFFERING FOR 2025 This year’s sale features a strong group of bulls, many of which come from our most proven and reliable herd sires. We’ve placed significant emphasis on calving ease and birth weights. Since we calve large groups in the fields, these two traits are critical. We want calves that are born with the vigor to get up and get going right away. While we don’t focus on a single trait, we’ve carefully selected bulls that excel in growth, muscle, and maternal values—all while maintaining ease of calving. Over generations of stacking genetics from our Limousin and Black and Red Angus herds, we’ve focused on producing sires that eliminate birth weight fluctuations, while still pushing for growth and performance at weaning.
We’re committed to consistency in our herd bulls, and we believe that is clearly reflected in the sons we present to you.
THE BULLS FOR SALE We’re very proud of this year’s offering. In the Limousin section, the young sire SYES Hardcore has produced an outstanding set of sons. These bulls have calving ease, growth, solid structure, and excellent disposition. Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, and 11 are some of the most exciting Limousin bulls we’ve ever raised. What these bulls all have in common is their direct lineage from our legendary sire, Westmoreland—a bull we consider one of the best all-around sires we’ve ever used.
On the Black Angus side, we are excited to introduce our new sire, Fire Side 20J. We’ve been eagerly anticipating his first calves, and we’re extremely pleased with what we’re seeing. His sons have calving ease, growth, muscle, and volume—all built on a solid foundation. While it’s difficult to pick just a few, we highly recommend Lots 25, 26, 30, and 31 for their exceptional quality. Fire Side has matured into a truly impressive individual, and his progeny are showing that same strength. We also have bulls from Bronco 43H, who produced our top-selling sons in 2023. These bulls are powerful, with excellent foot structure, growth, and frame. HA Colonel is another exciting sire, known for his ability to produce muscular, well-shaped progeny with great foot design. Our Red Angus offering is influenced by Escobar, who ranks at the top of the breed for maternal traits. His sons combine ample volume and muscle with excellent foot structure, and they all possess his fantastic disposition. These traits make them ideal for producing Red Angus-influenced females with strong maternal qualities. The Red Angus influenced bred females dominated the fall of 2024 top values in the replacement market.
HEIFER PROSPECTS In addition to these impressive bulls, we also have a number of heifer appropriate prospects. As many producers look to rebuild their cow herds, these bulls represent an excellent opportunity to invest in quality genetics that will support future herd growth.
MATERNAL STRENGTH Finally, as we talk about calving ease and growth, we want to highlight the exceptional maternal traits of both the dams and sires of these bulls. We place a strong emphasis on the size, type, and quality of udders, as well as milk volume. Sires like Westmoreland, Payweight 6458, Emblazon 109X, Blackman 825A, Kargo, and Tradition have all contributed daughters with outstanding maternal abilities. These females are the foundation of our program, and their influence can be seen in the quality of the bulls we offer today.
The dams of these bulls are not pampered by any means. The young 2 year olds come home in the fall to be fed silage along with the oldest cows of the herd. They young and mid aged cows remain on swath grazing or winter grazing if snow depth permits till calving time. They are then fed hay at calving then back to the breeding fields. The majority of the dams of these bulls have spent a big part of their life in the hills near Justin and Josée’s home. Yes, it does sort some of the pretty’s out from the working type.
CLOSING Thanks to Stacy Young for persevering the picture and video shoot. We were at the mercy of the weather. We started out Day 1 with sun and plus temperatures. Day 2 was high wind and snow that let up even though temperatures were falling. Day 3 was -30 with high winds, but we managed with frozen equipment to get through the majority of bulls. We missed pictures for a few bulls due to cold but all have videos on the Cattle Vid site.
The cattle industry continues to be strong and we are excited to be a part of it. We thank those who have purchased and supported our program in the past and look forward to working with you in the future.
As our past sales, for those who cannot take their purchase home at sale time, we will return the bulls to our farm. We have been able to deliver many of the bulls to their new homes when time and availability permits. For purchases that are going longer distances, we will keep the bulls until the necessary arrangements are made.
If you require more information on any of the bulls, please contact us or any of the sale staff, as they will have viewed the bulls at the farm beforehand. The bulls will be available for viewing at the farm up to February 17th and then at Saskatoon Livestock Sale for the two days prior to the sale day.
Thank you, Robbie

HEADLINER
Headliner 105H came to us as one of the lead off bulls and top seller from the 2021 Symens Sale. Headliner was the feature bull in Symens 2021 Pen of Three in OKC Cattlemen Show. His 2023 progeny represents the largest group born to date. His progeny has been consistent in low birth and calving ease. Headliner’s EPD’s reflect these highly proven traits with double digit calving ease of +12 and a birth weight of -1.7. They exhibit strong growth with an excellent disposition. These Headliner sons on offer exhibit their sires dominant traits. Great foot and hoof structure, built-in calving ease with ample muscle and shape, and testicle development. These are black and red sons that we believe are some of the best young Limousin bulls we have offered. We are anxious to see his first daughters come into production.
Nordal LARAMIE 24L
LOT 1: Larimie 24L leads off our Limousin section with great accolades. His dam, Annie 24A, is our most prolific Limousin dam. This will be her 5th son that has established himself at the top of the group. Laramie 24L is outstanding in his hoof, foot and leg structure. He is impressive in his balance from front to back. Cleaned fronted, strong topped with an attractive profile. Headliner 105H has been a calving ease, low birth sire as evident in 24L’s numbers, double digit CE +11, with a -0.8 BW. A strong, proven dam whose pedigree traces back to Tranquility who was a flush mate to our past herd sire, Westmoreland, that has produced an outstanding set of top selling bulls and highly productive females found in many of our top sellers over the years. We are excited for the future of Laramie as a leading herd sire.
LOT 2: Latigo 982L comes as one of the strong performance bulls of the group. His frame, length and correctness set him apart from his pen mates. His dam is one of the highly productive Westmoreland daughters we are so proud of. Latigo comes with solid growth numbers, and also leads with double digit calving ease +12 and -0.1 BW. Calving ease coupled with performance is what we have strived for and 982L combines it all in an attractive sound made structure.

He is thick top to bottom, stylish made with a big deep round hip. The thing I like most about him is his clean styled head and shoulder. He is big scrotal and has an excellent disposition. The best part of Lexus is the production of his dam. She is an ideal beef cow. Moderate in frame, yet big volumed and sound, with an ideal udder. Once again, she is a top Westmoreland daughter. Lexus has to be appreciated for the package he presents. His young sire, Headliner, has proven his consistency by the set of sons on offer.

Luger 235L comes as one of the deepest bodied bulls of the group. Once again a Headliner son that is calving ease, low birth made with a Westmoreland dam. Luger 235L has one of the best dispositions of the pen. Here is a young sire that will do an outstanding job on a set of Angus cows. Luger 235L is one of the easiest bulls to work with of the group.
LOT 10: A son of our most favorite cow in the herd starts the red bulls. His dam, Senorita 80B, is definitely our most productive dam along with Annie 24A, the dam of Lot 1. We have flushed “80” as we call her to a number of sires in the last year. We are highly struck on this young Headliner son. He and his dam returned from E.T. last year as he had a bit of a set back but has continually gained ground on his pen mates. His calm attitude coupled with his balance and body depth and muscle shape make him easy to find. On paper he continues to impress. Low birth, good growth, and ample strotal. Lance 80L is a very well designed complete package. Once again, a Headliner – Westmoreland, in a red color.
LOT 11: Lantz 128L is the red version of Lot 3, 223L. Here is one of my favorite bulls of the group. A red son of Headliner with the body and muscle coupled with an excellent foot structure. His Westmoreland dam ranks as one of our best. In full production, she is a model mother. Her greatest attributes are her udder design and milk flow. She is correct and sound made from the bottom up. Analyze Lantz 128L from the front with his clean smooth head leading back to a well built, thick top, deep side profile and big round hip. Once again, the consistent calving numbers and growth from the influence of Headliner shine through.
