Anwender Cattle Company Mosside Shorthorns
Welcome,
As I sit down to write this it is +2C and the weatherman is calling for a high of +8C today. Just a week ago it was -35 with a windchill of -51! Crazy! The cattle weathered the cold snap well, with good warm boots and mitts we did too. I’m sure we’re in for more winter yet but this warm spell was very welcomed. How about those calf prices last fall? It’s looking like prices are on their way up again. It’s nice to finally get paid for all the work we put into them. Let’s hope the prices remain strong for a long time. Shorthorn roots run deep around here. Sadie is a fourth generation breeder in the Anwender family, something we are very proud of. Another thing that we are very proud of is the fact that we have 6 generations of females here at ACC - from our top producing cow family, the matriarch ACC Candy’s Winegum 14W. A large number of the females in the herd go back to Ol’ Winegum. We are really pleased with the bull pen again this year. We feel that there is something that will fit the needs of most operations. We invite you to come for a visit, take a walk through the bull pen and take the herd tour. If you can’t make it out just give ourselves, Grayson, Jeff or Richard Bramley [Jack Auction Group] a call, he will have been through the bulls and analyzed them all by catalogue time.

ACC 39Y - DAM OF LOTS 1 & 2 PATERNAL GRANDDAM OF LOTS 3, 12 & 13
Liberty puts all the pieces together to lead off the 2024 On Target Sale. This is a genetic combination that hasn’t missed for us!! 43L has an abundance of mass and presence about him while being very attractive through his front end. He was very popular in the barns when we exhibited him at Canadian Western Agribtion last fall, where he was the Shorthorn breed champion in the President’s Classic Show. Liberty’s pedigree speaks for itself. His dam, Bubble Yum 39Y, is still the cow we consider the most ideal in phenotype that we have raised. That’s holding true at 13 years of age! She was a 2 time CJSA National show Champion Female for Sadie, including at 8 years of age, with a full sib (ACC 11G) to Liberty at side. Another full brother, ACC Candy’s Hubba Bubba 30H, is a reference sire for us in this sale, with three progeny (lots 3, 11 & 12). This guy has really pushed the scale down since weaning time. Whether you’re looking to raise show cattle or add colour and performance to your herd, we think that 43L is a special one that’s going to do just that.

Scurred. Lion Bar has undoubtedly been a favorite since birth. His masculinity and performance are second to none in the group and among bulls you’ll find this spring. Bubble Yum did an exceptional job raising this guy at 12 years of age. The top and bottom of his pedigree are from the heart of our herd. The Candy’s and the Madi’s are high performing and heavy milking females. Length, character and width are a few words that describe 5L. His sire, Me ‘N My Johnny 52J, was the high selling purebred bull in the 2022 sale to Twin Elm Farms in Manitoba. Don’t miss the chance to acquire a powerhouse son of 39Y. He’s been one to catch your eye in the pen with those characteristics and his roan colour. Fancy Pops 33F puts a lot of performance into her calves. We have been very pleased with the results of the first two calf crops from his sire, Janell’s Falcon 70F. Calves come easy and have ample growth.
