Swantewitt Simmentals 17th Annual Bull and Heifer Sale Offering 56 yearling bulls, 14 two year olds, and 20 replacement heifers Farm Gate Timed Auction Sale.
Bidding opens AT 8:00 AM March 12, 2021 and closes at 6:00 PM on March 13, 2021
Welcome to our 17th Annual Sale! We’ve had a few additions to the family with another daughter for Justine and Mat, and Darian and Austin had a baby girl as well. This year we have a few AI bulls on offer from some older genetics in the fullbloods and some new ones in the purebreds. Lots of calving ease bulls in our purebreds with a couple of Kuntz Sherriff sons as well as some TNT 90 Proof grandson’s. We have several homozygous polled purebred bulls on offer as well as quite a few polled fullbloods this year. For growth and muscle check out the Cayenne, LFE RS Lewis and Everest sons in the reds and the Open Range, Apache, and Keato son’s in the Fullbloods. We are sure to have a bull that will fit your program and all are semen tested and guaranteed. Our replacement heifer calves are heifers that represent our herd. All of the calves at the sale have been halter broke through a 5-day program and vaccinated with Presponse HM, Express 5, Vision 8 with Somnugen, and dewormed with Bovimectin as well as Cylence. We select our sale calves from our herd of 350 registered cows focusing on soundness, temperament, good udders, and longevity. Halter breaking helps to ensure the calves are willing to be handled and we definitely feel it is worth the effort for our customers. Due to Covid 19 restrictions our sale will be different this year. The bulls will be staying on farm and available for viewing at any time however we will have them specifically in pens from March 913. Feel free to stop by whenever or check out the bulls online. Videos will be posted of each bull on our website at www. swantewittsimmentals.com. The sale will be a farm gate timed auction by DLMS.

We purchased ‘Keato’ from Keato Meadow Simmentals in 2017 with the goal of acquiring a heifer bull and he has been just that for us. We find that most heifers calve with minimal difficulty and the calves have lots of vigor. The coloring on his offspring is fairly consistent dark red and he is heterozygous polled. Last year we put a handful of cows with him as well since despite his claim to fame of calving ease, he doesn’t give up any growth. He sires thick, stylish calves and his females are often our top selling heifers. We find his son’s have phenomenal libido and the daughter’s are super maternal.

Apache is sired by the very successful Brink Geronimo bull co-owned by Shane and Tony Wolfe. These are outcross genetics that bring size and muscling into a herd. Geronimo’s claim to fame is his ability to put size in his calves but not give up any other significant qualities at the same time. Apache was used on 45 cows last year and again on the same number this year as he has had no trouble going out and covering a large group of females.

Everest is easily one of the best bulls we have ever raised and we are so happy to have kept him as a herdsire. In fact we loved this combination so much that we bred his dam this way 3 times, each time getting a bull calf. The current “G” baby is already a family favorite and sells this year as a two year old. Everest has proven to calve well and produce calves with very manageable dispositions. It’s no wonder since he himself is a gentle giant. His dam, Violet, was a cow who could milk and this is something that she has passed down to her daughters in the herd. We feel that this is truly a fantastic combination with the Cayenne bull of muscling, thickness, calving ease, and disposition. Everest is exactly what the cattle industry is striving towards. As a two year old he topped the scale at 2400 lbs.

Cayenne is an AI bull who we kept back to use in our own herd for his different genetics. He comes from a completely outcross dam who had picture perfect feet and a fantastic udder. She always raised off a powerful calf year after year. He has so much growth and muscle for a red factor bull which is what makes him quite desirable in this industry, but he also has quite consistent calving ease. You can pick a Cayenne calf out of a field due to the impressive growth, size and muscling in both the bull and heifer calves. Cayenne topped the scales at 3000 lbs last year.

LFE Amber Jack sold through Lewis Farms 2017 bull sale and a few select semen packages were available. We’ve been really impressed with the growth and performance his calves have, weighing down that scale come weaning. Grasshopper is out of one of our best old cows who passes down an excellent temperament, as seen in her son Swantewitt Brave and all of his progeny. This is an opportunity for a really great bull! We have been very pleased with our fullblood and purebred female program and we are very happy to be able to offer these 20 females in our sale. Every year we struggle to choose which heifers will be retained in our herd and which we will part with since we love them all so much. We try to choose ones that represent the herdsires we are currently using. We select the heifers for our own herd at the same time as the ones for our heifer sales and aim to provide our buyers with a great representation of the kind of females we like to build our herd around.
