DO YOU MY MAP? CHALLENGE 1ST OCT 2016 1ST FEB 2017 The finest maps are made by the people who know the area best; the secret short cuts, the hidden wildlife, the undercover hideouts and untold stories. What are your favourite spots in the Clyde and Avon Valley? The Make Your Way team are asking people of all ages and backgrounds across Carluke, Lanark, Larkhall, Glassford and Stonehouse to document their journeys through a Citizen Mapping exercise.

MAKE YOUR WAY As September gives way to Autumn and Winter, the Clyde and Avon valleys will be awash with excitement and intrigue. Make Your Way are inviting people to appreciate the abundance of heritage in the area while developing new attitudes to utilising local trails and active ways of moving around. Thanks to funding from the Smarter Choices, Smarter Places grant and Heritage Lottery Fund supported Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership, Make Your Way will be working with communities in Carluke, Glassford, Lanark, Larkhall and Stonehouse to promote walking and cycling. This will be done through a diverse and engaging set of mechanisms to include creative workshops, route identification, digital mapping and an on the ground campaign. Can you help shape the project? The best knowledge of the area will come from local people and their experiences. Testament to the strength of local knowledge one member of the community has provided so far over 55 heritage points of interest for Carluke alone, while others in Stonehouse have used online mapping tools to show the hidden gems and points of interest. Over the coming months there will be multiple ways to get involved, so sign up @ www.clydeandavonvalley.org/make-your-way or contact myw@icecreamarchitecture.com if you have any questions.

All you’ll need in order to take part and submit your personalised map is to open a gmail account. This will allow you to access My Maps; enabling you to create routes and mark spots of interest. It could be where you like to go at the weekend, what fish you caught in the river or where you made a treehouse as a child; it is up to you what content your map will have.
