SAVE OUR SKILLS

Heritage skills training is identified as crucial to the delivery of projects under the Landscape Partnership Scheme. The projects within the LCAP have a high level of community and volunteer involvement, and people need training in order to acquire the skills to allow hands on involvement in the projects. It also empowers the communities and people involved as they are not reliant on external involvement to allow them to take work forward. The training projects are also important for the future sustainability of projects, as local people will be equipped with the skills to continue caring for the landscape and heritage beyond the period of HLF funding. The aims of this workstream are to train individuals in a variety of heritage skills. Projects in this Workstream include: D1.1 Training: Employability and Heritage Skills for Hard to Reach D1.2 Community Orchard Training

D1.1

EMPLOYABILITY AND HERITAGE SKILLS FOR HARD TO REACH TRAINING

Context This programme of training aims to offer a a wide range of heritage, conservation and horticulture skills, focusing on 

opportunities to deliver employability training to individuals to fill skill gaps in the area

opportunities to train hard-to-reach volunteers and those with support needs

Clydesdale Community Initiatives are one of the key partners that aim to deliver this training. They incorporate the principle that no one should be defined in terms of their support needs, rather they should be recognised for the contribution they are able to offer, gaining invaluable experience of vocational and social skills and as a result their self-confidence has increased, often reducing long term demands on mainstream services as a result. As a result both employability and hard-to reach heritage training work together to provide opportunities for those with support needs to be employed in work that makes a contribution to the CAVLP area. In addition, employability training is offered to a wide range of our community. These skills can support volunteering activities within the CAVLP programme and area to achieve our outcomes and offer new skills to make individuals more employable and get jobs. CAVLP team will work with partners to ensure that where possible conservation activities over the whole programme incorporate training for either hard-to reach or employability. The Proposals 
